$9 Saints?? After our performance on the weekend, 6 day turnaround, coming back from Perth, possible injuries to Rance and Jack, Dusty not looking right, surely $9 is worth a punt?

The MCG website has upped the anticipated crowd to 52k.

It would be if the Saints could hit a target. Actually over the past couple of weeks their gamestyle hasn't been too bad and made them a threat in games but they just continually shoot themselves in the foot by butchering the ball. They had Collingwood on toast last week early on in the 3rd quarter. The Pies couldn't get the ball out of their backline. However, the Saints stuffed up about 10 virtually gimme chances in a row to score and once the momentum swung their errors gifted the Pies 5 goals in about 5 mins = game over. It's like watching us before last year. Missing sitters in front of the sticks, missing 3 open teammates in the F50 by kicking it straight to the single opposition defender, and kicking across ground straight to free opposition players that gifts them goals. They have been seriously crap!
If St Kilda wins then it'll only be because they pull a "round 16" out of nowhere like last year and suddenly learn to hit targets while we turn up not ready to play and apply no pressure.

St Kilda forward Mav Weller is set to miss Saturday afternoon's clash with Richmond at the MCG after suffering concussion at training.
However, the Saints have received a boost with Jake Carlisle and Paddy McCartin passed fit after their own concussion troubles.

Deluded Saints fans on SEN tonight :facepalm.
what are they saying? ;D
A number of them are boasting that they are confident in them beating us :stupid.
-
:lol
that used to be us :-[
Look I dont doubt that theyre better than what theyve shown this season, I expect them to find some form later in the season - the return match at etihad might be a tricky one
-
10 goal win coming up for the Tiggy Express.
-
Can't take this game lightly 6 day break coming from WA and saints are copping it to and they still mention they beat us last year.Play 4 qtrs and team effort we win comfortable.
-
This is actually the epitome of a "danger game"
We were as flat as tacks in WA, played poorly and the fingers started pointing; especially down back
At some point the Saints are going to have a "day" where it clicks
We need to be switched on and play to our strengths and play as a team... do that we win; we don't well keep everything crossed the Saints woeful skills get us over the line
-
The AFL website is tipping us to win by 5 goals.

SUMMARY
The Tigers will be looking to return to the winners list this week after losing just their second game for the season last Sunday. They'll be looking to restore their pressure game after it somewhat deserted them against West Coast. They went into the clash ranked third for pressure points in the competition, and then posted the third-worst result for the round against the Eagles. It's what the Tigers pride themselves on and they'll need better output across the field if they're to bounce back. Meanwhile, the Saints' goalkicking remains a problem. Only once this season have they kicked more goals than behinds, and against Collingwood on Saturday night, they recorded 10.12 with midfielder Jack Newnes (four goals) the most damaging in attack. Tim Membrey remains out of form, and as their sole available key forward, needs to turn things around if the Saints are to be any chance against the premiers.
WHERE AND WHEN: the MCG, Saturday, May 26, 1.45pm AEST
LAST FIVE MEETINGS
R23, 2017, Richmond 19.8 (122) d St Kilda 12.9 (81) at the MCG
R16, 2017, St Kilda 21.12 (138) d Richmond 10.11 (71) at Etihad Stadium
R22, 2016, St Kilda 7.13 (55) d Richmond 6.10 (46) at the MCG
R16, 2015, Richmond 13.11 (89) d St Kilda 10.13 (73) at Etihad Stadium
R22, 2014, Richmond 15.8 (98) d St Kilda 10.12 (72) at the MCG
THE SIX POINTS
1. Despite Sunday's loss to the Eagles, the Tigers remain as one of the best finishing team this season. They've won six of nine last quarters, which isn't the most, but they're the highest final-term scoring team with 295 points to their opponents' 185.
2. The third quarter has been the Tigers' weakest period of football with wins in just four terms so far. However, the Saints have struggled after half-time; they've won two third quarters and three fourth.
3. The Saints might have won two of the last three head-to-heads, but the Tigers have the better record since 2012. They've won seven of their last nine games, four of which were at the MCG.
4. The Saints continue to have issues when it comes to scoring. Membrey has kicked 6.15 this year from seven games, and they're ranked last in the League with an average of 65 points per game.
5. Neither side has been strong in clearances this season. The Tigers are equal 16th with an average of 33.9 per game and the Saints are last with 31.1.
6. Dustin Martin, Alex Rance and Trent Cotchin all took a tumble in the Schick AFL Player Ratings last week. But, ruckman Toby Nankervis continued to show his worth by rising from No.61 to 58 overall despite being in doubt before the game.
IT’S A BIG WEEK FOR…
The critics are circling Dustin Martin with the midfield bull down on his best recently and still lacked his usual punch last week despite being one of his side's best. In the Tigers' round 23 win over the Saints last year, he picked up three Brownlow votes – could this be the week where he explodes back into form?
PREDICTION: Richmond by 31 points.

Quite true. And I still believe that no matter where the sides are on the ladder, the travel factor in terms of returning from WA still needs to be considered.
For a number of years, I made some nice coin betting against any side that had travelled to the West for their previous game.
It isn't as big an issue as it used to be, but it is still a big factor.
-
Na we will smash them. I’d be more worried about the following weeks game of those cheats win this weekend

Couldnt agree more. That match we played v the Saints in 2016 is one of the all time worst games Ive been too. A little scarred, so not expecting big things.
-
To be fair we played unwatchable football in 2016.
We just need to accumulate and bank 4 points.

FINAL INTERCHANGES
Richmond: Brandon Ellis, Jack Higgins, Reece Conca, Connor Menadue
St Kilda: Jack Steele, Hunter Clark, Brandon White, Daniel McKenzie

-
Grigg inside 50. Scramble. Edwards' kick smothered. Saints clearing kick is intercepted. We get it back in there but Cotch's snap misses as well.

3 inside 50s to nil.
-
Scrappy play in them middle. Short marks the Saint kick off the ground. Gets it Grigg but his kick inside F50 goes straight to Carlisle.
We get it back. Caddy goes long to Jack who goes high but can't mark. Saints clear.
Lambert off HB. To Cotch to Caddy. Gives to Houli to Dusty to Edwards. Kicks it to Jack who cops a whack to the head from Carlisle >:(. Jack is wobbly and goes off. Caddy takes the kick = Goal :gotigers
Rich 1.2-8

Enjoy your enforced holiday, Carlisle.

Free to Short. Finds Floss. To Lambert who taps on to Dusty to Cotch and he finds Ellis who marks 25 out directly in front. Misses :facepalm.
9 - 0
Cotch with 6 possies already.
-
Great play by Macca. Beat 3 Saints. Butler had time to find a target but hits Geary instead :scream.
Saints run it down the other end for a goal :banghead.
9 - 6
-
Good one Butler >:(
Sloppy defence
-
Our entries into the forward line are shoddy without Jack there. Our disposal efficiency is worse than the Saints 67% - 73% :help.
-
Finally we kick a goal. Butler with the goal.
Rich 2.3-15
StK 1.0-6
-
LOL membrey. OOTF!
-
We are playing pathetic
-
Goal to them.
15 - 12
Ordinary first qtr.

Moore marks at HF with 36 secs left. Goes inside F50 and Butler gathers and gets it :gotigers.
21 - 12
-
Quarter time
Richmond 3.3-21
St Kilda 2.0-12
Goals: Butler 2, Caddy.
-
Any news on jack?
-
Jack going off seems to have unsettled us. We're relying on crumbing goals.
-
Any news on jack?
Not in the quarter time huddle...... :thumbsdown
-
Any news on jack?
Possibly concussed. They'd be doing the concussion test which takes 20 mins I think.
Houli off with a sore groin apparently.
Carlisle reported for his swinging arm on Jack.
-
Cotch steals the footy. Off to Lambert towards Higgins but his kick is off. Saint clear.
We get it back but moore can't mark. Throw-in by the point post. Conca snaps but it's another throw-in.
Saints kick it OOTF. Ellis to the square and Caddy snaps a goal :gotigers.
Rich 4.3-27
StK 2.0-12
-
Macca intercepts. Kind bounce to Caddy, back to macca. off to Short. Finds Moore on the lead, who chips to Butler. Poster. Another bad miss :banghead.
28 - 12
We should be 5 goals up if not for our goalkicking :banghead
-
Houli to Macca to Dusty. Finds Sheds but not called 15 ::) and he's tackled. The Saints pounce and run it up for a goal. Thanks ump :banghead.
28 - 18
-
They are getting too many easy forward entries and shots once they get it in there. Lucky Paddy McCartin misses.
28 - 19
-
Jack is official out of the game with concussion.
Houli back off again with that groin.
-
Starting with Rance who won the contest. We run it down in waves. Ellis to Butler who centres it to Cotch = goal :gotigers
Rich 5.4-34
StK 3.1-19
-
And that's why I'm critical of Menadue. Can gather and run but too often turns it over.
34 - 20
-
Geez menadue :banghead
-
Lucky they butchering the ball because we are turning it over too :help.
-
The Saints have lifted because we are playing poorly. Inside 50s this qtr: 7 - 15
Our forward of centre play is terrible.
-
Aarrgghh the commentators :thumbsdown
-
Goal to them.

They are working harder. Perhaps being two down on the bench is starting to hurt.
-
Both had a fistful of jumper but the ump pays it against us ::).
-
Geez we've stopped. Like last week, the ball is rebounding too easily out of our defence. No pressure.
Frees: 5 - 10
-
Floss to Astbury. Bouncing ball. Macca to Moore to Caddy in the square = Goal :gotigers.
We needed that one.
Rich 6.4-40
StK 4.3-27

Half-time
Richmond 3.3 6.4-40
St Kilda 2.0 4.3-27

Just watched the replay of the Riewoldt incident. Jack wont be back for the day Im guessing.
2 for Carlisle.
-
I wish they wouldn’t refer to Alan Richardson as Rich. There’s only one Richo
-
Both had a fistful of jumper but the ump pays it against us ::).
because that’s fair ::)
-
This is like the 2016 game .
-
Saints are running it to our forward 50 to easy and kicking straight. Need to tighten up big time.Play smart footy and simple one to.I have noticed we are getting the habbit of turning over the baĺl again.
-
We're getting smashed in the clearances :help. We've also only had 20 tackles.
At the half, St Kilda leads clearances 20 to seven. Tom Hickey has a match-high six clearances and also has six hitouts-to-advantage, leading the Saints to a nine to four advantage in this area.
In an end-to-end contest, both sides are scoring heavily on the back of defensive half chains. Richmond has kicked 5.2.32 from defensive half chains and St Kilda has kicked 4.2.26 from defensive half chains, representing all bar one point of its score.
St Kilda has won the inside 50 count 15 to eight this quarter and clearances seven to one, yet have only managed 1.3.9 from this dominance, compared to Richmond's 2.1.13.
Actually we're behind in all the stats :help:

Great win under the circumstances. Wins like this galvanise teams. Menadue and Moore are still reserve grade players, but so is Conca who was at his terrible worst today. Considering the injuries and the umpires trying their best to get the Saints a win, our players came through like a champion team should. Well done to them it was a great win IMHO.

It was a gutsy win in the end being two down for practically 3 qtrs and fighting back to lift ourselves off the canvas. The Saints had their best game for the year and hardly missed their goals unlike all their previous games so far in 2018. We looked gone once the Saints got 12 points up in the 3rd. We're not playing well, we're carrying passengers, and we're miles from our best team pressure wise (terrible again today) but the positive is we're still 8-2. Big 3 weeks coming up before the bye.

Winning after getting thrashed in the stats will be giving opposing coaches nightmares.
Thanks to MT et al for the coverage.

Agree with all of this. Though you left out BEliis who didn't let me down in the dinky kicks and pulling out of the odd contest side of the game

You picked it exactly WP. :thumbsup
We aren’t doing a lot right but luckily we are still winning. By the way we are playing I’m not confident in the games leading up to the bye.

Gee theres some saltiness on the St kilda boards . No one can remember a thing from the Bulldogs /Richmond flags but everyone remembers Goddard taking that mark .Pure salt .

They are a weird lot. I still remember back in the early 2000s at Docklands when a Saints fan turned around and told all us Tiger supporters to be quiet when Nick Riewoldt was lining up for goal. She wanted to watch the game in silence and not have us disturb her beloved Saint Nick :rollin.
Poor bitter Saints fans :nopity. Just one flag in over a 100 years thanks to a flukey wobbly kick with the past 52 years and counting being crap with no sign of it ending :yep.
The vast majority of their supporters only memory of a trophy is holding up a preseason wok that no else gave a stuff about with dopey Grant Thomas banning his players from showing any signs of happiness :wallywink.
Thomas: "Zee players must not smile Lenny or zhey zhall be shot"

They were a half decent side for a decade but just couldn't win a flag. Now their rebuild is reminding me of us under Wallace .No more Nick - what reason do they have to go to the football anymore.
Them and Melbourne were us and Carlton at the end of 2008 - that didn't work out well .

McCartin is a spud, the commentators go on about how great it is to see him play because of his issues, but he was a number 1 pick. St Kilda should have done their homework...

Looks more like a Union front rower.

Good win in the circumstances. When challenged in the third quarter stood up. Caddy and Cotch were outstanding. Caddy really stood up in Jack's absence. Cotch's attack on the ball and his disposal was second to none. He really lifted when challenged by the Saints and was one of the few who had clean use of football. Vlas going forward was a good coaching move and Vlas played well. Butler in first half was good and Nank around the ground was very good. Broad was good. Rance was good as well. Win was made special by the fact that we had no Rioli, Grimes, Prestia, Jack, Houli and George and still won. Moore showed some glimpses. Jury still out on Menadue. Conca unfortunately was very poor.
