First of 21 consecutive games in 21 days
-
Just announced on Ch7.
-
Wednesday, July 29.
Prime time reward for two in-form teams according to Ch7.
A 5-day break for us. Dogs get 6.
-
Arguably our only remaining bogey side. 1 win from our past 6 meetings and that was by less than a kick. Time to turn it around. We need to win.
-
Jack mentioned we have experience with 4-day breaks thanks to the Anzac eve games. So we are following that course of preparation for this Dogs match.
-
Beveridge and McCrae publicly claiming this is a "test" to see where they are at. They do realise we're playing half our VFL team?! ???
-
I have grave fears we will get toweled up tonight. Their young brigade is running pretty hot at the Moment. Not to mention they are a bogey side.
-
Arguably our only remaining bogey side. 1 win from our past 6 meetings and that was by less than a kick. Time to turn it around. We need to win.
True but they’ve only got hold of us once in the time frame.
There are 2 occasions when I think we should’ve won the game 2016 and 2017.
I don’t think the Doggies are especially well coached either.
They are the greatest of down hill skiers but they hard to stop when they get on a roll
Pressure the ball carrier and physically go after Johanisson, English and Bontempelli and the rest of them go to water.
Bit like us in the mid 90’s with Knights and Richo

Tigers skipper, wrecking ball back but defender suffers setback
By Marc McGowan - 2 hrs ago
RICHMOND captain Trent Cotchin will return from a three-game absence against the Western Bulldogs on Wednesday night, but David Astbury is out for a little longer.
Cotchin hasn't played since suffering a hamstring injury in the club's win over Melbourne, and coach Damien Hardwick said the veteran midfielder wasn't certain to play every match in the next few weeks.
Promising hardman Sydney Stack has also earned a recall, while All-Australian defender Bachar Houli (personal) will fly to Queensland on Thursday to serve his quarantine period.
However, fellow All-Australian Shane Edwards won't be available until sometime after his partner gives birth in August.
The Tigers will play four times from this week to August 17 and will leave the sunshine state just once in that period, to face Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.
Premiership defender Astbury (knee) could miss the first two of those – against the Bulldogs, then Brisbane next Tuesday – after suffering a setback in his recovery.
He was originally trying to be available for Wednesday night's clash.
"For whatever reason, (Astbury) had an incident. We're not too sure what it was, but it's put it back a little bit," Hardwick said.
"It might be couple of games at this stage.
"Dave is a quick healer … but he's so important to the way we play. We just have to make sure we get him right, because whenever he comes back in, we want to make sure he's in for the longer term."
Stack will play through the midfield against the Dogs after working hard to regain his pre-season conditioning.
"Sydney's a guy we want in the side, there's absolutely no doubt about that," Hardwick said.
"He was in a really good spot I reckon, pre-(COVID-19) isolation, if that makes sense, then when we 'isoed', he probably didn't come back in the form or shape we'd like.
"It took a little bit of time, but he's been outstanding up here and he's really taken to it and his training has been fantastic and he's been doing some work off-field as well.
"We're really positive that when he comes back in the side, which will be this week, he's going to have a really positive impact on our footy club."
As for out-of-sorts key forwards Jack Riewoldt and Tom Lynch, Hardwick was confident they would have "a pretty dramatic increase of output at some stage".
They've kicked 19 goals between them despite playing all eight games.
"Jack and Tom would be the first ones to say they could play a bit better," Hardwick said.
"But we had a really good review meeting with the players and we're probably not helping them out that much, to be honest.
"Our execution and polish inside 50 hasn't been to its usual level … (and) the fact of the matter is they're probably a byproduct of the way we're playing."

Big game tonight with a big couple of weeks to follow. 3 of the current top 5 teams in a row. I'm sure someone will add the usual cliches to the thread.
-
It will be one of our greatest wins if we get over the line tonight. The Dogs are close to full strength missing only Naughton & Hunter.
-
No excuses dogs a not in great forget the 4 pts.We get our forward line right and midfield connection and nail our chances will win that has been letting us down.
-
5 wins from their past 7 is decent enough.
One thing tonight is we need to kick straight otherwise we won't win no matter who we're playing.
-
Oh dear Cotch drops a sitter :scream
-
That was terrible, a Dog player all alone
After another poor turnover
All seems a bit flat
-
Schoolboy errors :banghead
-
Cotch dropping that makes me think we are going to lose
-
Good onya Pickett. Keeping up the usual standards lol.

-
Bloody hell George :banghead

-
Chol good contest after he slipped. Typical george shank grrr!
-
Castagna is so frustrating
-
Stack had to stick that tackle on Bontempelli
-
Dusty finishes
But ball movement down the outer wing was excellent
-
Lot of guys have started well tonight, looking more confident than previous weeks.
-
Dusty goal. Great set up kick by Eggy.
21 - 7
-
Pickett looking a lot better today
Cotch looks like he's missed 3 weeks or was it 4
Jsit off the pace at the moment
-
Aarts goal.
27 - 7
-
Balta is so exciting. Questionable disposal but he can fix it. Uncanny how he's like a young Rance.
-
1/4 time
Richmond 4.3-27
Bulldogs 1.1-7
top stuff.
-
Poor by Stack
Equally poor by the Egg - lack of intensity
Wallis basically an uncontested mark and a very soft goal
27 - 13
-
That was soft, someone needed to drive that ball forward.
-
You can't over-handball in these conditions.
-
Im not able to watch it. Somethings come up. How we travelling?
-
Brilliant by Dusty
But kudos Baker, great attack on the contest

What was the diff b/w lambo and mccrae? Both fell forward in the tackle.
-
Poor kick by Higgins fails to hit Lynch on the lead :banghead
-
Probs at centre clearences.

-
Great mark Lynch. Goal.
63 - 23
-
It makes a diff when you kick straight.
-
Macrae seems to be a protected species
That was not high contact
-
These umpires are going to blow the pea out of the whistle tonight.
-
1/2 time
Richmond 4.3 10.4-64
Bulldogs 1.1 3.5-23
-
Delighted seeing the score. Hopefully we go on with it. We need the 4 points
-
Welcome to 2020 midfield-forward connection. Excellent so far. Quick entries giving our talls space.
-
Dusty killing it. 11 possies + 2 goals.
George & Short 10 disp each.
Lynch & Aarts 2 goals each.
-
Great half. Forwards finally looking dangerous and nailing set shots.
Dusty is a god.
Balta is a gun.
Pickett much better.
-
I posted somewhere else that the Dogs are an easy side to play. Pressure them and take out Bont, Johanisson and English and they can’t win.
Mentally, they are soft.
On the flip, when they get their tails up, can score quickly and hard to stop momentum
So, 3rd quarter, Tiges show ‘em it’s our premiership quarter and bury them
-
:scream
:banghead
Egg and Stack combine beautifully to hand the ball to the Dogs
-
Stack is a mile off it and lacks any urgency.
-
Poor option eggy when he had a free man running in the corridor.
-
Goal to Dogs
64 - 29
Why is Cotch kicking on his left
Turnover
:banghead :banghead
Pathetic
-
Letting them back in
Bloody lucky it was a point
-
Where's the manning up Tiges?
-
Cotch protecting the hammy, WP.
-
Higgins again, hid disposal at times is shocking
Free though to Tom
Badly miss
65 - 30
-
Lynch misses a gettable set shot.
65 - 30
-
Cotch protecting the hammy, WP.
Can't afford it MT
His turned it over every time he's kicked on his left
-
Dumb footy this qtr.
-
Macrae seems to be a protected species
That was not high contact
Just saying it again
-
Aarts goal. Thank dusty for starting that.
72 - 30

-
Really worried about Sydney Stack, he's really struggling

But is gunna be a star
-

Arent happy with the performance.
The first 10 mins of that are we were flat and gave the Doggies to much free ball
Luckily they missed a few sitters themselves
-
Sloppy too cute overpossing that cost us goals that qtr, Ramps.
-
Really worried about Sydney Stack, he's really struggling
Going terrible
But is gunna be a star
Absolutely agree
Noticed Dusty was tried a few times to get him in the game
-
Poor Egg had no idea against Bomtempelli
Goal to them
77 - 37
-
Sloppy and ordinary in defensive transition since half-time.
-
Beautiful goal by Pickett
83 - 37
-
Nice goal Pickett.
83 - 37
-
Egg is depth and that's it. Stack will find his feet from this game I think.
-
Great smother by Balta btw.
-
Mrakov hasn't had many possessions but he has done his job
Well done young man
-
Great smother by Balta btw.
Certainly was but gee Bruce is playing awful footy

They've now had more in50 marks since half-time
-
Goal of the year
That is all
DUSTY

Dusty. I made a post last week to have some faith in the boys. This is just one game I know but look what we can do even with our depleted side !

Think you're right WP re: McCrae.
-
Think you're right WP re: McCrae.
Clearly protected
It's Selwood/Albert junior like
-
Won by 41.
Great first half.
Second half meh aside from Dusty & Balta.
-
Best performance of the season
-
Percentage above Collingwood now which is a bonus.
-
Think you're right WP re: McCrae.
Clearly protected
It's Selwood/Albert junior like
When tackled he drops forward to the ground resulting in a push in the back free :banghead
-
Excellent win tonight! Cotch set the standard with a brilliant first quarter, Balta was outstanding, Bolton superb. We even got some goals out of our big forwards this week! Chol is really starting to show a lot.
We have been poor early in the year but I think we are turning the corner. We are going to come home hard! :gotigers
-
Great game from everyone tonight!!
Egg has some Houli moments both with the ball and his attack on the man...needs a little hardness.
Markov was good and should be afforded some games.
Greta to see Stack get some run in the legs and you could tell he was stuffed running both ways tonight...game high tackles was impressive.
Balta :bow
All round it is very satisfying beating the Dogs my most hated team :gotigers
-
Egg just isn't a backmen
-
Final Score
Richmond 4.3 10.4 11.10 13.12-90
Bulldogs 1.1 3.5 4.7 7.7-49
Goals: Martin 3, Aarts 3, Castagna 2, Lynch 2, Chol, Pickett, Riewoldt.
-
Egg just isn't a backmen
WP's new favourite whipping boy...still miles better than Houli was at the same age...:shh
-

Bit like us in the mid 90’s with Knights and Richo
As I expected.
They are a soft, middle of the road side that goes missing completely when their prime movers are locked down.
Bont, English and Jojo gathered 39 possessions between them at 70%. Pathetic really. We are a team
that plays to a system, they are blokes who play to their individual strengths.
-
Wonder if people still think Chol is soft and should be dropped? :shh
-
Egg just isn't a backmen
WP's new favourite whipping boy...still miles better than Houli was at the same age...:shh
>:(
And no, the one who has that honour got dropped (rightly) this week
-
Love Marbs. He makes things happen.
Egg is very soft but has great skills.
-
Wonder if people still think Chol is soft and should be dropped? :shh
I’m a fan. Drop Soldo and play CCJ until Nank is back and we’ll lose nothing in the ruck and kick more goals :shh
-
Great win. On the egg I noticed the previous weeks he likes to kick short a lot of the time. Short 20 metre kicks. Was it the same today?
-
Yes he generally doesn't like to bite off more than he can chew when he's in the defensive half... :shh
-
"Richmond had 10 players in the clash with 30 or less games experience " .Very pleasing considering I know we have injuries but we won last 2 flags.
-
Awesome game by the boys. Showed hunger and intensity from the get go.
Stack is badly out of form you can see he just doesn’t have his touch fumbling the ball nearly every time. Think they just have to give him a run of a few games and hope he plays his way into form.
Better from both lynch and jack hopefully it’s onwards and upwards from here.
Thought we were looked after by the umpires tonight which is a nice change!
-
Well called pre-match georgies and HRT :clapping. Amazing to produce that quality especially in the first half given half the side were so inexperienced at AFL level. A massive and important win for our season.
:gotiges
-
Really good win. Broad and Bolton have really stepped up this year. Pickett and Balta were both good. Martin and Grimes were outstanding. I hope Grimes wins the Jack Dyer medal this year. Week in week out he displays enormous courage, skill and determination. i also liked Chol's game. It is good having him in the side.

Not many go as hard as Grimes. He is a legit full speed attacker of the ball. Real inspiring stuff for the backline.

Enjoyed the game. Enjoying having the boys up here

Envy you Julz
you're very lucky
-
Don't know if this is true but Jobe Watson last night claimed that half our side being rookie/supplementary players was the most in 20-25 years.
-
Enjoyed the game. Enjoying having the boys up here
Nice reward for many years of loyalty julz. Enjoy!
