Title: Christian Salem
Post by: torch on October 26, 2013, 02:43:53 PM
Christian Salem should be our main target.

Would be an upgrade on Grigg.

Salem can hit targets and tackle.

Ellis, Conca/Vlastuin, Salem as our centre line will be very good!

We are no chance
They aren't planning to take him so don't see how that matters...

But we are a very, very little chance of getting him.

Just pointing out that he'll be gone either way

I still hoping we go for Luke Dunstan. You can never have enough of this type of player in the midfield IMHO.

Totally agree on Dunstan. The way he moves, his body shape and his running style remind me a bit of Dane Swan. Wouldn't that be nice!
Also has a bit of X factor, which after the last 3 drafts IMO we could do with.

Dunstan on is not worth pick 12 , Salem is

1. GWS - T.Boyd (Lock him in)
2. GWS - Matt Scharenberg (Big midfielder, big need for that at GWS)
3. ST.K - J.Aish (Need genuine midfielders, could pick Kelly. Flip a coin)
4. WB - J.Kelly (running midfielder, they'll take Aish if Saints don't)
5. GC - J.Billings (Nice fit for GC, midfielder who kicks goals)
6. COLL - Cameron McCarthy (With Cloke getting on and no other tall forward looking likely, McCarthy could go to Pies as the 2nd best forward in draft, can't see them going with Bontempelli over McCarthy)
7. BL - D.Sheed (Been linked to Lions as the next Simon Black, can't see him going top 6. CAn play. Larke medalist.)
8. NM - Luke McDonald (Father Son)
9. MELB - L.Taylor (Dees need a gun midfielder, if Taylor is still available I reckon they'll snap him up. Salem, Lennon and Freeman a chance)
10. COLL - B.Lennon (Can't see him not being a Top 10 pick. Gun, would love him at Tigerland.)
11. WCE - C.Salem (I reckon they'd have wanted Sheed, being a WA home boy, if he's available I reckon they'll snap him up. Would love Salem to slide too. Think he'd destroy sides on a big oval)
12. RICH - N.Freeman (Bit of an XFactor, wouldn't mind him, prefer Lennon or Salem but Freeman can play)

i have misgivings about him. cant really put a finger on it because he performs like a top 10 pick.
he plays hard and is strong but its this i think i worry about. it seems to me he relies on strength to buy time and space and at afl level i dont think he will have a strength advantage.
he will compete against boys who will be bigger when they develop. i dont see physical attributes that would allow him to off set this.

who knows maybe im just reading something that may never happen. one should never really project too far forward and just judge em on what they have done and hes been damn good.
no problems if we took him but i do prefer others.

I would take Bontemtelli  if he slipped to our pick , which would be probably wont happen

Should be there. If he isn't then Salem will be.

Why does that Bojangles fellow always post that shoosh emoticon at the end of his posts?

Anyway, Acres > Freeman > Lennon > Taylor > Salem > Crouch IMO.

I'd even go McCarthy over Salem and hope someone like Combe is still available at 50, though we'd still need a quick outside mid.

This one has us taking Salem - Bontempelli goes at 6.

Draft experts Jay Clark and Sam Landsberger give their thoughts ahead of the AFL national draft -
12. Richmond
CHRISTIAN SALEM
183cm, 81kg
Club: Sandringham Dragons
Combines strength with silk, like Dan Hannebery, in a perfect mix for the Tiges. Salem’s left foot is precise, he kicks goals and boasts impressive contested footy numbers.

Agree - just edited my post because I had Salem  & Crouch the wrong way around. Would be extremely disappointed if we used our first pick on him.

Do not want Bontempelli. Mostly because of the hideous surname
