Thursday training to be available online
Richmond fans will be able to get a glimpse of the team’s preparation for the JLT Series, with Thursday’s short match simulation session to be made available online at richmondfc.com.au.
The session will be one of the players’ final hit-outs before next Friday night’s opening pre-season competition match against Adelaide at Etihad Stadium.
The Talking Tigers podcast, including Richmond champion Matthew Richardson and Tiger ‘tragic’ Tony Greenberg, will provide commentary and maybe even some insight over the vision, with the occasional special guest from the club dropping by during the play.
As well as the match vision, post-game interviews will also be provided on the club’s desktop website and mobile app, as well as a photo gallery and play-by-play summary.
You can also follow all the action on the Club’s social media accounts on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/Richmond.FC/), Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/richmond_fc/), Snapchat (http://tige.rs/RFCSnapchat) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/Richmond_FC), including a Facebook Live Q&A with a player early in the afternoon to summarise the match.

Well i enjoyed watching live streaming of practice matches at Punt Rd a year or 2 ago. Can't say i know of any other club that did that...could be wrong but i think they have followed us since.
-
This is good stuff. But is there any risk they might tell us when to tune in?
-
Real supporters already know.... :shh

Lennon bags four in Richmond intraclub
richmondfc.com.au
Feb 16, 2017
RICHMOND has used its intra-club match on Thursday to trial a smaller forward line, with Ben Lennon kicking four goals as he pushes his case for senior selection in 2017.
The Tigers haven't settled on their best forward mix yet as they prepare for life without Ty Vickery and look beyond the three-pronged tall set-up they have used in recent seasons.
The answer may be a smaller line-up, with the club encouraged by its growing group of small forwards and midfielders who can rotate in attack effectively.
Lennon, who played three games last season, was a standout in Thursday's trial game alongside small forward Daniel Rioli, who booted two goals and set up a number of others.
Rioli was particularly clean with his hands and was able to push onto the wing regularly after a faultless pre-season that has seen him add strength and endurance.
Others to impress were third-year forward Dan Butler (three goals) and draftees Shai Bolton (one goal) and Tyson Stengle (two goals), who were dangerous around the ball.
Star onballer Dustin Martin was in top form in the midfield and pushed forward, while recruit Dion Prestia made good decisions and stood out.
The coaches also started captain Trent Cotchin deep in attack for periods as part of the smaller line-up before rotating the Brownlow medallist through the midfield.
Lennon shapes as an ace in the Tigers' hand this season after just 19 games in three years, with his career yet to take off because of injury issues and poor form.
The No.12 pick in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft, he has also been moved through a number of positions, but appears to now be settled in attack where he has enjoyed a full pre-season.
Tall forwards Jack Riewoldt (four goals) and Ben Griffiths (one goal) both played on Thursday morning, but ruckmen Shaun Hampson and Toby Nankervis were rested.
Star defender Alex Rance was also rested but donned an orange vest and took part as a boundary umpire as the club keeps a close eye on his workload.

Hey Jackstar did you apologise to him at the ground for your previous thoughts and comments?
5 kilos of Potatoes for Lennon is a fair deal
Seriously
Can't play the game
Pathetic footballer.
End of Story
His real name is Ben LEMON
Enough said
Lennon is a shocker in my book
Watched him yesterday
Couldn't bruise an apple
It's amazing that you people keep pumping up Lennon when there are a handful of VFL players that are better than him
He has no value what so ever
Yep Lennon is hack
Houli is a gun
As I have said many times
Should of moved Lennon on last year
NOT an AFL player
End of story
-
I for one am not getting excited about him kicking 4 in an intra club. Who did he play on? Hunt? Houli? Please!
I think most would agree Lennon needs to pull his fist out of his arse and show everyone why he was picked up as a first round pick. The only thing he's given us this far is a lot of excuses and a desire to play for the cheats. :banghead
It's time he delivered.

Well Jackstar rates both Houli and Hunt quite highly so thats another endorsement

ah
Houli didn't play

I like still shots.
You don't get to see how they stuffed it up.

Anyone else see Soldo take some good marks?
Encouraging.

Smooth sailing in Tigers' scratch match
Callum Godde -

February 16, 2017, 2:46 pm
After a tumultuous AFL off-season, Richmond's second intra-club game went off without a hitch.
Star signings Dion Prestia and Josh Caddy played in all four quarters of the scratch match at Punt Rd on Thursday, while All-Australian fullback Alex Rance watched on from the sideline.
A Richmond official confirmed there were no fitness issues with Rance.
Piggybacking on his eye-catching performance in Saturday's first trial, Prestia once again looked a class above, while Caddy crumbed a nice goal before an errant handball lead to a major down the other end.
With the club's horror 2016 season in the rear-view mirror, Damien Hardwick's men will have to wait until February 23 to kick off their 2017 campaign against Adelaide at Etihad Stadium, having been gifted an opening-round bye in the AFL's pre-season competition.
Brandon Ellis, Steven Morris, Bachar Houli, Shane Edwards and Shaun Hampson trained away from the main group, restricted to running laps and riding training bikes.
Last season's Jack Dyer medallist Dustin Martin (three goals) showcased his trademark fend early in the first half, busting past two tacklers to set up a Daniel Rioli major.
Jack Riewoldt barely left the forward 50, snagging three goals of his own.
But it was Ben Lennon, who failed to secure a trade last year after a frustrating three-game season, who topped the goal-kicking tally with four.
The Tigers' season-proper gets underway on March 23 at the MCG against Carlton.

Tigers committed to game plan revamp
JON RALPH,
Herald Sun
17 Feb 2017
JACK was chained to the goalsquare, Dusty had his own footy and the backwards chip kick of previous seasons were nowhere to be seen.
Talented forward Ben Lennon kicked four standout goals and Daniel Rioli exhibited some serious moves to go with his shock of long black hair.
No one is getting too carried away with Richmond’s pre-season form on Thursday but at least at Punt Rd the negative vibes of 2016 had been wiped away.
The Tigers’ second intra-club contest in as many weeks has shown the Tigers are intent on significant changes to their game plan.
Ahead of next Friday’s JLT series clash against Adelaide coach Damien Hardwick would have been thrilled with plenty from the hitout.
The biggest positive is a shrinking injury list, with Alex Rance and Toby Nankervis managed but few other long-term injuries.
Steve Morris (ACL) is some time away and Bachar Houli has a hamstring niggle but the Tigers seem remarkably injury free.
Dion Prestia, excellent again, seems at full fitness after his knee issues and Ben Griffiths is back after groin surgery.
Jack Riewoldt was at his imposing best playing close to goal and Martin was scintillating running free without his regular tagger.
But Hardwick knows it is his emerging core who must fire, and on the performances of the past fortnight that is at least realistic.
Lennon, unwanted during trade period despite his pedigree as the 2013 draft’s No.12 pick, led strongly to mark and goal in the first minute and eventually finished with a bag of four.
He has finally compiled a strong pre-season and will get chances in the pre-season competition to show he can fill that mid-sized forward role.
Second-year small Rioli showed glimpses in a highly encouraging debut year but showed he has developed the tank to also get up the ground.
Trent Cotchin is tracked by Dion Prestia.
One scything Dustin Martin run through half forward drew enough traffic for him to handball to Rioli, who goaled from 30m on the run.
Corey Ellis was nearly best-on-ground last week, Nick Vlaustin again mixed midfield and forward time and even Trent Cotchin was trialled forward.
Yet the biggest change is the ball movement off half-back, with the methodical build-up replaced by bold movement and aggressive counterpunching.
Players were constantly praised from the sidelines for smart decisions to pick options with foot in the corridor or back themselves with pace from half-back.
Nankervis might have been rested but looms as the nominal Round 1 ruckman, especially after assistant Andrew McQualter’s comments on the club website.
“He’s been good. He’s nearly put a couple of our players in hospital with some of his tackles, but he’s had a real presence so far,” McQualter said.
“He’s a quiet, unassuming sort of guy, but works really hard. He’s made a great impression so far.”
It’s early days for the Tigers after last year’s train wreck, but all of a sudden there is a sense of anticipation ahead of the season-opener against Carlton.

I've always defended him as a prospect, but he was seriously impressive.
He had a patch (in the second period I think) where he took about four pack marks in ten minutes at both ends of the ground.
Good stuff.
