Baffling to say the least ::)
Even up to a few weeks ago was considered a smokey for the award and will poll very well most likely be the best poller from the club.
Does the AFL know something that we will find out on Monday when the count begins? :whistle
-
Nathan Foley u have got to be stuffin joking.
Next they are going to send my Nonna Rosina an invite. what a disgrace.
Foley had a very average year. I seriously cant believe this decision.
-
no Hodge or Franklin either, must be an oversight unless the Coleman medalist is an automatic invitee like all captains and past winners
-
no Hodge or Franklin either, must be an oversight unless the Coleman medalist is an automatic invitee like all captains and past winners
all australians are automatically invited
-
Thanks for clearing that up :thumbsup
-
I just looked at the other clubs list of invitee's and the players who made the AA are on the list! players like Cooney, Fisher, Bartel, Ablett, etc..... they're all on the list of invitee's but richo isn't on it!
Bit of a rip off if he isn't a show!
-
The Sunday Age has Richo as an invitee...
Richmond
Matthew Richardson, Brett Deledio, Nathan Foley, Shane Tuck, Kane Johnson (captain)

Is tonight about an award given to the best and fairest footballer in the AFL or just a petty excuse for the partners to dolly themselves up in designer dresses. Seems a little tacky now with all this red carpet crap and what not. ::)

Difference is I suppose the Lions tailed off whilst we finished strong. Although I suppose Richo's first half was a lot better than his second half of the season.

Fortunately for Richo the other leaders aren't getting votes :pray.
Looking at the count now I think its worked against Richo not getting votes against Essendon in Rd 9 when the general concensus was that he would. Hopefully he polls a few against Freo to get him over the line. :banghead
-
Tucky is going to take the 3 voters away from Richo in the later rounds :-\. Hopefully the big fella can gets votes against Brissy, Hawthorn and Freo.

Something like that :thumbsup
Apparently there was a scrag fight between Rebecca Twigley and Harvey's missus as Twigley was laughing at her copycat cheapbum version of her dress in 2004 and Harvey's missus lost it as she was not going to take that lying down and behaved in a way that befitted a woman who goes around belting other mothers at her kids creche. :lol

We get flogged in the next 2 games so Richo's got to hope Black, Cooney or Ablett don't get any votes either.
Bartel and Judd have got bugger all votes this year.

If Richo doesn't get up then Blacky would be great. Still underrated IMHO and one of footy's genuine nice blokes.

Yeah i agree Black is seems a real top bloke but does he deserve the medal as being the best.
Im just being biased as i want Richo to take it home.
-
Reckon we are gonna have a situation here where Franklin tops the count and the hollow victory for someone else.
Why can't they just subtract 5 votes for each game you are punted for?
-
After 19 rounds - Richo survives as none of the leaders eligible got votes.

Damn Richo's dropped from 4th to 6th. How can Buddy be 3rd?
-

-
Goodes is ineligible Julz.
We win our last 3 games but Richo won't get votes against the Dees. Geelong of course wins their last 3 too. Lions and Dogs win one each.
-
Richo needs a 3 against Hawthorn and to pinch a vote or 2 against Freo when Tuck and Lids had great games also to at least have a chance to tie with Black at a minimum or win outright. Had a shocker against the Dees in Round 22 so won't poll at all. Hopefully the 2 goals Richo kicked in the last quarter to get us over the line against Freo were eyecatching enough to the umps in a pretty uninspiring game overall. :pray
-
Please not Goodes again :pray
Not gonna happen Julz. Franklin will win by 2 or 3 votes.
Both are ineligible. Like I say why can't they just add a fixed penalty so that if you are pinged for one game (or accept a reprimand like Franklin did) you start on -5, two games -10 etc.
-

As I reiterated earlier round 9 v Essendon when Richo had a great game and got no votes cost him dearly. :banghead Deserved a vote in rd 21 also against Freo. Would have got him over the line. Place would have gone beserk if Richo had got up.
Great effort from the big fella would have been a wonderful winner a popular winner and a humble winner. Nevertheless congratulations to Adam Cooney. First number one draft pick from 2003 to win. Here's to Lids to become the second number one draft pick to win a Brownlow in the very near future. :thumbsup

average games against crap sides freo and melb killed him..

Forgot Simmo who also got 1 vote. Not too bad. 16 Tigers getting at least a vote.

Yeah tough. Richo kicks 2 match winning goals in the last quarter to give us breathing space in a game with no real highlights so unfortunate that Richo's efforts didn't catch the umps attention in a way that would equate to votes. Would have thought Tuck or Lids might have got votes in that match also and although Jackson was good on the day in hindsight perhaps is effort was not worthy of a vote.

Foley and Lids tore the Bombers mids to shreds in the first half and Edwards kept getting by himself inside 50 because dopey Lovett-Murray wouldn't go near him. Shane could have kicked 6 by half-time if he kicked straight. Hard for the umps to miss any of those 3.
How about Clever kicking 6 and Morton 5 goals against Port and no votes for either yet two Port players get votes in our win ::)

Fair point OE. Just checked to see how we all voted in the weekly match day OER Tiger of the Year Award and yes both in Rd 9 and Rd 21 there were clearly other standouts in the votes that we the forumites gave. So I guess as a consensus on how we saw things we can take off our yellow and black glasses now that all the hype and hope have subsided. What we can reflect upon though is that Richo is a champion and he proved it this year that as a 33 year old he almost upstaged blokes like Black Cooney and Ablett many years his junior. Hopefully team honours do not escape Richo now that perhaps the highest individual honour for this year at least has. :thumbsup

Also good to see Cotch get 2 votes in his debut year. The first of many for the future champ (touchwood barring injury).

The umps love Goodes as much as the tribunal does. 21 votes in a year he supposedly struggled :o. I know Richo was lucky to get 1 vote against Geelong but Goodes received 2 votes for a game he only had 14 possies and kicked 4 points ???.

Some things are never meant to add up
Martin Boulton | September 24, 2008
Richmond's Joel Bowden had 39 touches, including 23 marks, in the round 13 win against Port Adelaide, but the votes went to Shane Tuck (three) and the Power's Daniel Motlop (two) and David Rodan (one). Rodan had 20 disposals and no marks.
While Richardson almost stole the show, teammate and 2008 club best and fairest winner Brett Deledio finished the night 14 votes behind the Tiger veteran.
