Title: Shane Tuck on SEN
Post by: one-eyed on June 18, 2012, 04:00:07 PM
Tucky was on SEN this morning with KB....

* Tucky thought his was going to be cut at the end of last year midway through last year.

* We're better off as a side for giving the young guys games but it was hard for him running around in the magoos.

* Footy turning back to a more contested brand has helped him.

* Tucky praised Ross Smith for the form he is in. Ross sits down with Tucky one-on-one and goes through each and every game and points out what Tucky did right and wrong. Ross have been good for the whole club.

* Dad (Michael) played until he was 38 so we'll see what happens. Got a lot to go to catch with the old man but getting to 150 is something he's proud of.

* Midfield depth has played a big part in our improvement this year - Cotch and Dusty are really good. Lids has joined the midfield this year along with Foley. Tucky hopes he continues to get a game.

* No talk of finals within the group. We work in 4 week blocks. Just finished one at 3-1. So after the bye we focus on the next block which begins with Adelaide in Adelaide.

* GWS - if he was Kevin Sheedy he'll be happy with the way the Giants played. Strong at the contested footy. The two Giants forwards, Cameron and Patton, were very impressive. Even though it was wet they marked well and kicked straight.

* Atmosphere wasn't the same as the 'G obviously but there were plenty of Tiger fans there.

* Tucky hopes his younger brother Travis gets a second chance at AFL.

Hardwick recruited him and CC protested the decision because he wanted a former Melbourne assistant coach.

So who hired him if the boss of the footy dept didn't?

Hardwick recruited him. CC signed off on it. What would Craig Cameron know of Smith's coaching? I reckon the bloke that has worked with him would have a fair idea and he was the major player in getting him to Punt Road.

Why does Craig Cameron get credit for that?

Is this true, did cc protest at hiring him?

If he is the GM of the Football Dept and was the one whose anus was on the line for hiring him then ultimately he should also get some credit?  Or do we just have a blanket witch hunt in place?

Nah, I made that bit up. :santa However, Cameron likes his Melbourne duds. His is one himself.

His ass wasn't on the line  ;D Smith is highly rated amongst the AFL. Very good appointment and the reason he is here is Hardwick. Cameron did little to get him, so why give him credit? I'll give him credit for the good things he's driving.

Fact is the bloke is an average footy manager and has a poo haircut. Dud delist.

In all seriousness, been told CC has a very poor reputation in the AFL. Tried to replace Nathan Brown with Russell Robertson.
