Must be a good chance , in excellent form .
Has responded beautifully since chopstix gate and the fiasco of having his father deported.
Many will have egg on their faces.
Will he take Conners as his date ?
What will he say in his speech ?
At least it will provide some intrigue in a disappointing season.
Go Dusty.
-
If he keeps his cool & attacks the footy for the remaider of the season the Brownlow is his easy. No-one in the league has been more consistent this season than Dusty. There is no-one else in the side who will take the votes from him this season
-
Did he get votes last night IYO Matty?
-
Will he take Conners as his date ?
Aaron Edwards seems to be his preferred plus one. Polynesian solidarity.

38 disposals , would be a fair chance possibly 2. Stringer won the match with 4 goals so deserves 3.

Just watched race 5 at Kalgoorlie Races
Backed the fav at $1.40

Apart from Cotchin , not many take voted off Dusty
We win another 3-4 games , he will win

Here comes Dusty. AFL website predictor has him with 17 votes only two behind their leading vote getter Luke Parker :thumbsup
Danger signs as Brownlow race heats up
AFL.com.au
11 July 2016
GUN SYDNEY Swans midfielder Luke Parker has edged in front in AFL.com.au's Brownlow Medal predictor, but hot form from Luke Shuey and Dustin Martin sees them close behind.
Parker leads with 19 votes after polling two in the Swans' Friday night victory over Geelong.
Cats midfielder Patrick Dangerfield was quelled after an 18-disposal first term and did not feature among the game's top-three players. He shares second place with Shuey, on 18 votes.
While Dangerfield's superstar status means he continues to reign as CrownBet's raging favourite to win the award at year's end – he was at $2.20 on Monday morning – Shuey and Martin are chasing hard.
Shuey has registered eight votes in the Eagles' three straight wins.
At odds of 50-1, he represents real value for punters. Those who jumped on with the bookmaker after round nine would be even more excited, when Shuey was listed at $101.
Martin had similarly blown out after nine rounds. Richmond had won just three times and the bookmaker was offering $81 for the 25-year-old.
On the back of three best-on-ground efforts in his last four contests, Martin has shortened into $8.50 – on the fourth line of betting behind Dangerfield, Daniel Hannebery and Joel Selwood.
The Tigers were valiant in defeat against the premiership-contending Western Bulldogs on Saturday night, and Martin was at the forefront, racking up a season-high 38 disposals.
With 17 votes, Martin is level with Adelaide's Rory Sloane in fourth spot.
And when it comes to putting money on the line, it's hard to look past the person in the lead on the predictor, especially when he is at $14.
That is where Parker sits – on the sixth line of betting.

I think he'd have to get some lucky votes to get it.

It's pathetic that we have such marvellous bookends in Rance and Jack ......plus a beast in the midfield who is in Brownlow form - only to be 6-9 and a mile off 8th.

I agree with you 100% but Dimma in his wisdom has made Jack a half forward flanker.
Looking through his stats from 2010 when he kicked 78 and won the Coleman medal and this year, he averages just over 3 more possessions now than back then, only .5 more goal assists now, and one less tackles now than he did in 2010.
But the worst thing after moving him further up the ground and losing all those goals is we haven't found any decent KPF to help take some of the load.
Play him deep forward, isolate him, and get the ball in quick, and not to the pockets.

How did Dusty miss a vote?

DUSTIN Martin continued his sparkling season with another day out at the MCG against Essendon.
The Richmond star was everywhere on the ground as he amassed 43 disposals, 35 kicks, 22 contested possessions and 14 clearances — all career highs — as well as two goals, six marks and four tackles to earn 152 SuperCoach points in the Tigers’ 19-point win over the Bombers.
Frankly, there was not much more Dusty could do in what was arguably the biggest performance of his career.
The three Brownlow votes are surely in the bag.
Our very own Sam Edmund thinks so after awarding Martin three votes in the Herald Sun Player of the Year award, and ex-Essendon star Matthew Lloyd gave him the maximum five votes in the 3AW award.
Martin firmed into second favourite for the Brownlow Medal at $7.
But Carlton great and ABC commentator Mark Maclure questioned Martin’s influence and didn’t give him a single vote.
That’s right, Dusty didn’t even feature in Maclure’s top three best players with his votes going to Richmond teammates Ben Griffiths (three), Trent Cotchin (two) and Essendon’s Zach Merrett (one).
Just spoke to Maclure. He gave 0 votes to Dusty. His first comment: "I couldnt care less". Says he had 33 in the back half that went 2 yards
— Jon Ralph (@RalphyHeraldSun) July 16, 2016
Don't agree with Sellers that Dusty wasn't in the top 3 but agree with his point we should ignore stats sheets and vote more on influence
— Jon Ralph (@RalphyHeraldSun) July 16, 2016
Yes, Martin’s disposal efficiency was only 51 per cent but most of his possessions didn’t come cheaply, and his 585 metres gained was the most of any player on the field.
He also had six inside 50s, which was more than any other player.
It’s worth remembering not even 44 disposals guaranteed Greg Williams a Brownlow vote in 1993.
However, Martin’s absence from Maclure’s vote certainly raised more than a few eyebrows on social media.

THE BROWNLOW Medal race is heating up after the top four on the leaderboard all featured among the votes in round 17, according to AFL.com.au's predictor.
As it stands, Sydney Swans gun midfielder Luke Parker and Geelong superstar Patrick Dangerfield share the lead on 21, with Richmond's Dustin Martin one behind that pair and Adelaide's Rory Sloane hot on their heels with 19.
Dangerfield ($1.95 favourite), Martin ($6.50 second favourite) and Sloane ($8, third favourite) are all into the shortest odds with CrownBet that they have been this year.

Dustin Martin is making a run to win the 2016 Brownlow Medal but Patrick Dangerfield likely too far ahead
JAY CLARK
Herald Sun
July 19, 2016
RICHMOND superstar Dustin Martin needs a miracle to win this year’s Brownlow Medal, according to Champion Data.
Martin has surged into a $7 second favourite with TAB to win the prized medal on the back of a career-best 43 possession effort against Essendon on Saturday.
It is the fifth-straight week he has gathered more than 32 disposals.
Martin, 25, also overcame the death of a close friend last week, with the Richmond star kissing his black armband after booting one of his two goals.
But days after Carlton great Mark Maclure didn’t give the red-hot midfielder a single vote for his onball heroics against the Bombers, the AFL’s official stats gurus believe Martin has left his run too late to catch blazing $2 medal favourite Patrick Dangerfield.
After 17 rounds, Champion Data forecast Martin is well back in seventh spot on the Brownlow leaderboard with 16 votes, a whopping 12 votes behind Dangerfield (28).
They have got evergreen Hawk Sam Mitchell (21) in second place and Swan Daniel Hannebery (20) in third.
The stats boffins believe Mitchell, who is slated to play his 300th AFL game against Richmond on Sunday, will dominate the count for the Hawks.
Mitchell’s next-best teammate, Cyril Rioli, is on six votes.
Martin is vying to become the first Richmond player in more than four decades to win the Brownlow after Ian Stewart last triumphed in 1971.
Dangerfield firmed from $2.25 into $2 after another three-vote performance against Fremantle on Friday night.
But only four of the past 10 Brownlow winners have been favourite with TAB on the night.
Champion Data’s complex statistical formula takes into account the result of each match and expects Richmond’s underwhelming season to count against their superstar ball-winner.
They also factor in players’ polling history, and, like Maclure, Champion Data didn’t give Martin the top votes on Saturday.
The stats gurus gave captain Trent Cotchin three votes, Martin two and brilliant Bombers’ playmaker Zach Merrett one.
The Coaches Association gave Martin a perfect 10 votes to lift him to third place in their count, on 74, six votes behind Adelaide leader Rory Sloane, on 80. Dangerfield is second on 79.
AFL greats Wayne Carey, Matthew Richardson and Kane Cornes all said Martin deserved the top votes against the Bombers.
Martin has enjoyed a career-best season despite his father, Shane, being deported to New Zealand by authorities in the preseason due to character concerns.
“I thought Martin was brilliant,” Carey said.
“I’m not sure where Mark was coming from with that (no votes). Even his coach (Damien Hardwick) said after the game he (Martin) didn’t use the ball as well as he normally would, but that was the pressure coming from Essendon.
“Their pressure was extremely good.
“What he (Martin) does, like Dangerfield, is he explodes.
“And this is what attracts the eye, when you can win the ball from a contest and run and carry the footy and they both (Martin and Dangerfield) do that.” Richardson said Maclure was trying to be controversial.
“Dusty 22 contested possessions and 14 clearances deserves at least one vote, Sellers,” Richardson said.
Martin has moved into more of an inside midfield role since Round 6 but the increased onball workload has taken a toll, at times, on his kicking efficiency.
Of his 42 possessions at the weekend, 18 were deemed ineffective, by Champion Data.
Teammate Sam Lloyd said Martin’s performance was “unbelievable” and credited his increased commitment off the field for his hot streak.
“Me and him do a little bit extra during the week, a little bit of boxing and he drags me along sometimes when I don’t want to go.
“So it’s probably his professionalism that has stepped up more than ever. I have really seen him evolve the last three years and he has just taken it to a new level this year.”
Mitchell and Cotchin finished equal second to Jobe Watson in 2012 and could yet receive Watson’s medal if it is controversially stripped due to the Bombers’ drugs ban.

Just catching up on articles missed this week.
Quirky stats from Round 17: Dustin Martin’s record ineffective kicks
Herald Sun
20 July 2016
MARK Maclure was howled down when he left Richmond star Dustin Martin out of his votes against Essendon.
Martin racked up 43 disposals against the Bombers but the Carlton champion couldn’t find a spot for him when awarding votes for best on ground on ABC radio, instead nominating Ben Griffiths (three votes), Trent Cotchin (two) and Zach Merrett (one).
The Tigers star recorded career highs for disposals, contested possessions (22) and clearances (14) — but he also set an AFL record that gives Maclure some ammunition in the Dusty debate.
Champion Data has revealed Martin had 18 ineffective kicks — the most ever recorded.
Martin recorded an overall disposal efficiency of just 51 per cent, although a lot of his disposals were under pressure — and he still managed to gain 585 metres (most on the field), kick two goals and register 152 SuperCoach points.
Interestingly, Champion gave Martin only two votes in its Brownlow formula, awarding three to Cotchin for his 35 disposals at a slightly better 66 per cent efficiency.
ROUND 17 QUIRKY STATS
DUSTIN Martin had 18 ineffective kicks — the most ever recorded.
HIS 35 kicks in total were the equal second-most recorded by a player since 1999.

id love to know the true definitions of clangers and efficiency. I think if you kick it short and a player drops the mark ie his unforced error and it gets swept away by the opposition its then classified as an ineffective kick.
I saw Howe blatantly turn it over 3 times in the first qtr - CD had him down for 1 clanger. Give us a spell

Dustin Martin (Richmond)
It seems that no-one has every possession as closely scrutinised as Dustin Martin does in the wake of just one commentator questioning the hype surrounding his Brownlow Medal charge. In his 150th game he made sure he didn't disappoint, giving opinion makers plenty of possessions to analyse. He had 18 possessions up until half time and finished with a game-high 34 including seven clearances and a goal in the win over Collingwood on Friday night. We reckon he can mark down another three Brownlow votes from this game.

The Brownlow Medal race looks to be going down to the wire, with Luke Parker, Rory Sloane and Patrick Dangerfield sharing the lead, according to the AFL.com.au predictor.
They sit on 23 votes, while Richmond star Dustin Martin trails by one with just three matches remaining in the season.
Despite the expected tight race, Dangerfield is the clear favourite to take out the award. The bookmaker had him at $1.50 as of Monday, with Martin the next in line at $7 and Sloane paying $9.
Martin was influential in his 150th game, helping Richmond to a pressure-relieving win against Collingwood on Friday night with 34 disposals and a goal.
Dangerfield had 29 disposals and seven clearances in an easy win over Essendon on Sunday.
The superstar Cat will face Martin and the Tigers in round 21 on Sunday afternoon at the MCG in what could be an enthralling head-to-head duel.

The Brownlow Medal battle
In many eyes, Patrick Dangerfield and Dustin Martin have been the two standout players of 2016. Their numbers are eye-popping and the impact they've had on their teams has been just as significant. For the first three quarters, the individual match-up took a back seat to what was unfolding out in the middle. While Martin finished with a game-high 36 disposals, Dangerfield's ability to lift when he sensed his team had a sniff was just as impressive. The star Cat is the Brownlow Medal favourite for a reason and his final quarter against the Tigers, in which he gathered nine disposals, went a long way to cementing that view.

Umpires dont base brownlow votes on 1 quarter so that article is pointless for Dangerfield. Dusty however should poll 1 or 2 votes from the umpires

Dangerfield and Selwood repeatedly left unmanned in the last quarter. As I said in another thread - made me wonder if we tanked the game after showing our best is good enough.

Just had to prove it to a couple of players (within and outside our club) :shh

You' actually believe this club's egomaniacs would tank?
What's more likely is, they'd allude to tanking after their most insipid last qtr fade since finals time. .

It was quite apparent actually, some just can't handle it though and just need their soapbox moment

In fairness, we've been screwed in Brownlows in past years. Raines got no votes in 1980 despite being the favourite. Cambo was also one of the favourites in 1995 but only got 10 votes.

Dusty shows future Brownlow potential
Gilbert Gardiner
Herald Sun
September 27, 2016
DUSTIN Martin went to the Brownlow Medal on Monday night hoping for a “good time” and left a genuine contender for the years to come.
Martin, 25, might look at newly minted Brownlow Medallist Patrick Dangerfield and smile as he too boasts the tools required to win the game’s highest individual award.
The prolific ball-winner has the speed, skills and durability in spades, and has now added consistency to that irresistible mix.
The All-Australian and Richmond best-and-fairest stamped his future Brownlow credentials with 25 votes to finish third behind Dangerfield (35) and Sydney’s Luke Parker (26).
Martin wasn’t alone as rising superstars Adam Treloar (21), Marcus Bontempelli (20) and Zach Merrett (19) also polled strongly.
The Tigers’ playmaker was shunned early, polling just twice in the first eight rounds, before a withering run through the middle rounds saw him rocket up the bunched leaderboard.
Martin’s impressive haul featured six three-vote games, including the polarising Round 17 clash with Essendon.
Former Carlton great Mark Maclure ignored Martin when dishing out his votes for ABC radio despite the ball magnet punching out a career-high 43 disposals.
Maclure said Martin’s disposals were mostly in the back half and “went two yards”.
Champion Data later revealed Martin had 18 ineffective kicks, the highest ever recorded, a stat Maclure said vindicated his decision.
The umpires obviously saw it differently.
It capped a breakout season for Martin, who led the Tigers in most statistical categories, despite a tumultuous preseason and having to deal with his father’s deportation earlier in the year.

If Dustin plays in the midfield as of Round 1 and Richmond win 11 or more matches he will be a Brownlow Medallist!

Has the right stuff to captain the team better than Rance and Cotch who both sook too much to expect the kids to look up too.
-
Right, now that Danger has his medal the umps (& the media) can get on with casting votes to the players who deserve them! Its like we were obliged to let Danger have this one, to tick off Geelong giving up two first rounders for him, to justify all the guff that came out of several commentators mouths.
With any luck the 2017 Brownlow wont be another 'orchestrated' event (like too many have been) & maybe, just maybe, we might get a deserving winner for a change!
Vote [3] for Dusty! :gotigers
Oh ... & get Fat Boy to hand over Cotchin's medal too ...
-
Had a mate who was at after party.
Said that dusty was on fire on the dance floor lol, also said that gave no one anything, people asking for pictures and autographs and just brushed them aside. Mate said rude AF and pretty loose.
I said to him, wouldn't you just brush everything and everyone aside when all they want to do is to get a picture and then sell to the papers. He couldn't comment back.
Did say he had a good convo with Sam Lloyd though, Lloyd said this bloke is outta control - RE DUSTY.
-
That's the right thing to do.
The public don't own people.
-
Martin clearly deserves the praise he is getting. It is well deserved. I suspect the drought regarding the medal is going to continue for some time given that the number of greats at our club who have missed out on the medal in the past when they clearly deserved it.

Dustin Martin etched his name into the Richmond record books at the 2016 Brownlow Medal count.
Martin became the first player in Tigerland’s history to poll 20-plus votes two years running.
He finished third this year on 25 votes after being awarded 21 votes in 2015.

Also, some posters on here are surely the Taylor Hunt equivalent of poster - they try hard, but just offer very little.
