gas is still a worry but something tells me he is gonna get back to his best, just a gut feeling, esp after i have bagged him so much
i would drop tiv and  put howat in and i think hyde wont make it atm due to lack of match practice. mguane will get the nod over moore imho and depending on plans and match up , knobs may be out for king, if they promoted him, they are obv gonna play him u would think so

Not a bad 18. Joel will have to play FB if Fev plays.

The bench is a bit iffy. Probably if all are fit - Knobel, Paddy, Howat and McGuane will stay in IMO. I prefer Patto to Knobel but does Knobel being named on the bench mean he could miss?

The Blues playing funny buggers naming all young guys in the guts - Murphy, Gibbs and Carrazzo. LOL @ naming Stevens on a HFF.

True Mopsy but my only concern is Hyde missed a whole heap of preseason and the Blues are a fairly tall side across the ground.

So who comes in now for Browny?

Paddy you'd guess will be used up forward leaving us with the need of another midfielder on the bench. Both McGuane and Hyde to play?

I'd pick King ahead of Hyde. Whilst he's just off the rookie list, he's been around a while and IIRC Carlton are playing a couple of first gamers. GO JAKE!! :thumbsup :thumbsup

I hope they play Cameron Cloke. He would be like a four goal breeze in our favour.

Hopefully they line up like this -

B: Chris Newman      Darren Gaspar        Andrew Raines
HB: Joel Bowden       Graham Polak         Brett Deledio
C: Greg Tivendale     Kane Johnson          Dean Polo
HF: Patrick Bowden   Matthew Richardson   Kayne Pettifer
F:  Andrew Krakouer    Jay Schulz          Richard Tambling
R:   Adam Pattison      Shane Tuck          Nathan Foley

Int: Trent Knobel, Jacob King, Luke McGuane, Cameron Howat

Should beat Carlton but willbe found out by the better teams.

Our starting on-ball brigade of Tivendale, Johnson, Polo, Tuck and Foley is very average.  Throw in Howat, Tambling, Krakouer and it doesn't get much better.  We need JBowden, Raines, Deledio, Newman to help out there but Terry isn't too keen on that idea.

I reckon now that Brown is out - Jake King will play :thumbsup

I think Paddy Bowden will also play and Moore & McGuane will miss out

i pm,d jack saying meyer should come in at hff and stay there . he needs a consistant run and he will kick goals even from limited opportunity or possession as he is our "generation next  - n.brown"

Your wish is my command  ;D.

Agree about Danny. We need to add someone with class in the side with Browny out. I still prefer to see him across HB but if he kicks a couple of goals and sets one up like he did against Melbourne then that's a handy cameo.

2 similar defenders on the bench! That won't give us any run off the bench. We much be going to play Polak in the ruck when Patto is rested with McGuane and Moore in defence  :-\. Gawd we're not that stupid to use Tucky again  :help.

Also why promote Kingy if we're not going to play him  ???.

Mind you there's always hope when Wiggins is in Carlton's best 22 lol.

I cant believe we are going in with one ruckman.

Doesnt make sense. Surely you would play Knobel ahead of a McGuane or Moore just from a team balance point of view.

Happy enough with that side polak will spell Patto i would imagine , perhaps even Schulz at times as well.
Not ideal but with carltons crap ruck and knobel not 100% fit and not that good anyway i think it is the right way to go.

My reading of it is that Polak may play forward and also help a little in the ruck. Knobel didn't participate properly at training yesterday, if I recall MT's notes, so they're leaving him out because he's not fit to play. Therefore, they're going in with 1 ruckman because Graham is not worthy, and Patto is the only one that's fit.
With polak forward/ruck, they need cover down back, and that's why Moore and McGuane are both included. They'll need someone with enough height, like Moore, to play on Fisher, who is good in the air and has been in good form.

I think the bench will be Hyde, Howat and P.Bowden, plus one of Moore/McGuane, so there's still a fair amount of run off the bench, MT.

Can tell you if Moore plays on Fisher, game will be over at quarter time sorry to say. ::)

Fair enough GB. I'm just concerned Hyde due to his interrupted preseason and Paddy will be used as forwards rather than as running players through the midfield. Let's hope you're on the money and they can run all day off the bench. You're right about Knobel. He isn't fit and they didn't risk him. Sugar said during the week that Knobs might not be ready until round 2.

Seems to be a suggestion on another site that Daniel Connors will make his debut tomorrow , in place of who i dont know..

And yes the other site is the site many people here don't have much time for so feel free to ignore this post!!

Yep it would be a surprise inclusion as Connors hasn't been seen at training or played for 2 weeks.

WHY THE F*** IS MOORE AND MCGUANE IN THE TEAM ...

WHAT IS THERE OBSESSION WITH THESE TWO ???

the players that shouldn't be in the team are:

Tivendale, Hyde, Moore and McGuane !

WHY DON'T THEY GIVE KING OR MEYER A GO !

meyer is a better half-forward or forward then hyde will ever be, and he has only played a handful of matches ...

why bother with Moore and McGuane ???

for our backline ??? ...

they will make it just as worse !!!

... give Daniel Jackson another go ...

2004 he was good in the backline !
