Public transport changes
Due to an autumn road and rail construction blitz, we encourage MCG fans to plan ahead and allow more time to complete their journey.
To find out how your journey may be affected, click here (https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/getting-around/network-changes/autumn-construction-blitz/).
Drop-off zone for vehicles
Vehicles can drop off and pick up patrons from the corner of Jolimont Street and Jolimont Terrace.
Bicycle parking
Patrons riding a bicycle to the MCG are asked to refrain from locking their bike up on the MCG concourse, or in an area that is likely to cause an obstruction or is too close to congested queues or crowds of people.
Any bicycle deemed to meet the above criteria will be removed and stored inside the MCG for collection after the match.
At present, there are approximately 80 bike hoops in Yarra Park. We ask cyclists to use these hoops when riding to the MCG.

Surely we will get more than 42k on a Saturday arvo at the G? That's less than 50% of members turning up. It's not like we are Carlton. I would hope we get >50k at least

The AFL website is predicting us to win by 27 points.

SUMMARY
The Tigers bounced back from their Grand Final rematch loss to the Crows to see off Hawthorn by 13 points at the MCG last Sunday. They unveiled yet another small forward – Jack Higgins – who's sure to give opposition coaches a headache after making an immediate impact with two electric goals that made him an instant fan favourite. The Tigers will keep the Lions guessing this week with a squeeze on for selection; there are no obvious omissions or injuries, while Josh Caddy, Nathan Broad and possibly Dion Prestia will all be available. However, one thing is certain; Toby Nankervis is in for a big challenge against Stefan Martin, who was the Lions' best last week, not only against Justin Westhoff but also with his work around the ground. The Lions fell just five points short of Port Adelaide without skipper Dayne Beams, who was a late withdrawal with illness.
WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Saturday, April 14, 2.10pm, AEST
LAST FIVE MEETINGS
R17, 2017: Richmond 16.16 (112) d Brisbane Lions 12.9 (81) at Etihad Stadium
R4, 2017: Richmond 17.17 (119) d Brisbane Lions 10.7 (67) at the Gabba
R14, 2016: Richmond 17.15 (117) d Brisbane Lions 11.9 (75) at the MCG
R3, 2015: Richmond 21.11 (137) d Brisbane Lions 8.10 (58) at the Gabba
R16, 2014: Richmond 12.7 (79) d Brisbane Lions 7.12 (54) at the MCG
THE SIX POINTS
1. Can Dustin Martin bounce back from a quiet (by his standards) performance against the Hawks? History says maybe; the Brownlow medallist had 40 touches and kicked two goals against the Lions in round 17 last year, but touched the ball just 16 times when they first met in round four.
2. Jack Riewoldt could prove a handful for the visitors. The spearhead kicked four goals in both wins against the Lions last year, while Dan Butler booted three in round 17.
3. The Lions could get the edge in the clearances though, given they're ranked second (with an average of 43.3 per game) to the Tigers' equal-13th (36 per game). Dayne Zorko and Rhys Mathieson lead the team with 12 each, Martin is second with 11 and Jarrod Berry third with 10.
4. The Tigers are a force when it comes to getting the ball out of the centre. They're ranked third in the League at centre clearances, led by Martin and Trent Cotchin, while the Lions are 10th.
5. Recent wins at the MCG have been few and far between for the Lions, against the Tigers or any other opponent. They last toppled Richmond at the venue in round seven, 2009, while they've lost their past five matches at the 'G, their most recent win coming against Collingwood in round 21, 2014.
6. Former Crow Charlie Cameron has wasted no time settling into life as a Lion. His three goals in each round have seen him soar up the rankings in the Schick AFL Player Ratings. He was 172nd overall after last year's Grand Final, and is now 129th after just three games.
IT’S A BIG WEEK FOR …
Moved into the midfield after half-time last week, Reece Conca was impressive against the Hawks. The popular whipping boy for Tiger fans has overcome persistent injuries over the last few years to play the first three games, but with Prestia nearing a return, the pressure is on for him to maintain his form in the final year of his contract.
PREDICTION: Richmond by 27 points.

We've pretty much owned the Lions for a long time now (won 15.5 of last 17), but we can't afford complacency as they've played some good footy in patches so far this year despite being 0-3. It's that inconsistency though that is their main problem. Against Melbourne they started poorly before coming from 7 goals down to level, only to fall away late. Against Port, they had a strong first half but then had a poor 3rd qtr giving up 7 goals before just falling short.
-
The Lions are building a very nice team by the looks of it.
I still expect a comfortable victory and I think Townsend will find some form too.
-
Please destroy this mob. The G is ours
-
First sign of winter today. Shocking outside - raining & windy. K.I.S.S. footy needed today. First in hard to win the contested footy and then long kicks (forget handballing too much) to achieve and maintain field position to score.

Not sure who this rain suits. Perhaps them? Although, good week to get Caddy and Prestia back.

Rain has stopped and the Sun is out now. Apparently there is going to be thunderstorms later on in the day. Welcome to Melbourne ;D.

Dusty's kick into the corridor is poor and not high enough and is straight to a Charlie Cameron. Lucky for us the review overturns the goal to Brisbane.

We finally break out of the backline. Conca to Short to Ellis to Cotch. Left foot inside 50 and Dusty gets the free.
Dusty kicks the goal but the ump calls him back as time on wasn't called on. Doesn't matter Dusty kicks it through a second time around. Goal! :gotigers

Prestia inside 50 from the centre clearance. It's a throw-in 15m out. Brisbane get the free but can only go back-and-forth sideways until they kick it OOTF. The long kick from Jack is rushed for a point.

Shocking kick by Brisbane at CHB. And we get the turnover and 6 or 7 Tigers can raffle it. Ellis with the set shot. Misses.

Caddy on the wing to Grimes but he coughs it up. Good team pressure saves the day and Rance marks. it ends up with grigg who goes to jack inside 50 to Georgie on a tight angle. 50 secs to go coast to coast and we did it in 40s. Goal on the siren :gotigers.

A couple of sloppy moments especially early on but overall we got going and dominated all over the ground thanks to our pressure and ballwinners.

Rince and repeat that quarter. Dominate all over the ground again. Only criticisms is it became too easy that we started lairising and became sloppy in the last 5-10 mins. We should have kicked more than 3 goals (5 behinds as well).
Richmond were dominate on the inside and efficient on the outside in that quarter. They lead the contested possessions by 20 and their kicking efficiency was 66 per cent in the forward half.

We are getting the rub of the green from the umps especially some of these blocking frees look really soft. But most weeks we’re on the bad end of it so I’ll take it.
Anyone else rekn we’re taking this dusty playing forward thing a bit far? Barely played midfield last 2 weeks.

The poorest game I have seen brisbane play in a long time.

Cut out the too cute stuff Tiges.

Alex Rance and Dylan Grimes have been a pivotal source of scoring for the Tigers. They have had 12 intercepts collectively as well as 3 and 4 score launches respectively.

30 secs to go and Brisbane finally get a goal after Nank couldn't hold the mark.
Mind you the last 10 mins has been sloppy and played between HB lines.

Richmond's tackling pressure has continued in this quarter, leading the count (17-5). As a result, they have launched 3 goals to 0 from intercepts.
In that quarter, the Tigers had 62 per cent time in forward half and launched 3 goals from 9 attacking midfield intercepts. But, Brisbane were able to launch their first goal from their 23rd clearance.

Conca, Lambert and Townsend were all better this week.
Cotchin was clearly BOG. Dusty is all class too.
Good all round game. Defence was much better today. Prestia had a good run.
Not much opposition today.
-
To only concede two goals is pretty amazing. That might be the lowest score kicked against us Ive ever seen.
-
Our percentage jumped by almost 30%. Now up to 3rd on the ladder for the time being.
Our immense pressure and ballwinners demoralised the Lions from the get go and they just fell to bits. As someone posted during the game, that was the worst performance by Brisbane for a while (credit to us). They've been mostly competitive under Fagan without winning until today. Junk time came early and we started to get too cute and lairising for about a quarter and a half after half-time. Thankfully we woke up again in the last 10 minutes and blew the margin out to 93 pts so we enter the Melbourne ANZAC Eve game with our heads screwed back on.
ps. It looked like Dimma used the thumping to experiment a fair bit. Dusty played FF for almost the whole game and it felt like Butler spent more time in the back half than usual.
-
Very good game by lambo, quality rev up from some of the boys on here :thumbsup
-
Good percentage boost will be handy at the pointy end of the home and away season. Brisbane weren't much chop at all, I felt we were
ok but a fair bit of our best. Our pressure rating was only 180 ... I think in the finals last season we were well over 200. With Rioli and Broad to come in. I think our best is in front of us, 3 and 1 its a good result so far this season. A win against Melbourne and Collingwood sets us up big time for the season ahead.
-
Not sure how you fix up a broken ahole but the Lions better find a good doctor after that game
-
1 packet of depends please my good chemist!
-
Great performance all round.
Graham will miss a game i feel.
-
I was very pleased with the way they settled down for the last quarter, which was probably caused by brisbane playing somewhat better.
Enjoyed the game overall :gotigers and any win is a great win no matter how it is got :thumbsup

Were you watching another game by any chance? he was one of our best.
-
No he wasn't. Looked a class below everyone else. Only BEllis was arguably worse and it was only Brisbane's utter putridness that made them look better than they actually were. People just get carried away when he doesn't stuff up ,executes a basic skill or simple play, evades a few defenders and does the odd good kick. Big woop.
-
I think you should watch more football.
He was clearly one of our best players after having a terrible start to the season.

Good win, but should have been 100+ the way they played.
-
I think you should watch more football.
He was clearly one of our best players after having a terrible start to the season.
Stevie Wonder watches more football than you do if you think Conca was one of our best. Truly laughable assertion.
-
Conca's theme song should be The Time Warp because whenever he gets the ball you're suddenly transported back to 2016.... :shh

Plays better in the midfield than he does off half back, hilarious if you disagree.

I don't....
-
Was it just me, or was the flavour of the umpiring today the "not 15, play on" rule.
Felt like I'd been seeing signs all week

Some of the best footy minds in the game (Dimma, Balme, Leppa and co.) pick him to play and publicly acknowledge his good performance....your hate for Conca has clouded your ability to see the/his performance for what it is and to say he was shyte is truly laughable.

Good win. Good to finish game off strongly.
-
We did do well in the end, but had the rub of the green early.
We should have trailed by a couple of goals early. Still not sure how Cameron's goal was called a behind on the replay footage I saw, but the players seemed to think it had hit the post.

Are they the same footy minds who kept on playing Vickery exc Balme

Yes the same ones who produced us our 11th flag! :gotigers

Hard to glean much out of the game to be honest as the opposition was insipid
Great Prestia got good solid game time
Lambert got played back in to some form, ditto Graham
Conca was good
Dusty kicked 6 goals but when on the midlle was just "going"
Nank did really well all things considered
We won, got a % boost that we needed and we mpve onto the game against the Dees
-
Conca has been good . For the sake of team balance much better he plays midfield. Allowed Dusty to kick a lazy 6 . Sure he butchers the ball from time to time ...but geez look at Luke Hodge yesterday.
Hope Conca can get a decent injury free run to see where he is at .
-
Training drill and Conca was still shyte....should've won by 25 goals.....anyway, good to see the umpires bog for us for a change.... :clapping :gotigers :clapping
I don't rate Conca, if you play enough then at some point can help but fall into some form. I'd be amazed if he ends up consistently impacting games when the whips are cracking at the end of this season

Haven't checked yet to confirm but apparently yesterday was the second lowest score we have ever conceded and the lowest in 108 years (16 pts to St Kilda in 1910).

Brisbane were as lifeless as Carlton. It’s odd because the numbers don’t display an overwhelming dominance by Richmond other than the inside-50 count. The Tigers had 30 scores from 53 entries. The Lions had seven from 39. The confidence they found against Port Adelaide was dismantled by the best defensive team in the competition. It looked like whenever Brisbane got the ball, the Tigers had already set up defensively and also had numbers swarming around the ball-carrier. It was the Double Deluxe Defence which led to mistakes and turnovers and frustration from the Lions.

Yep, it's true.
Saturday was the 2nd lowest score we have ever conceded in our entire VFL/AFL history. It was also the equal fewest scoring shots we've ever conceded.

It was a brutal defensive obliteration of a brittle opposition.
-
I always get worried when we play Brisbane, thinking they are always better than they actually are , thinking they are a team on the rise and their ladder position is not reflective of their actual ability.
They are a very ordinary team - I should remember that .

I get the same feeling around a lot of teams, but I feel it's still the past 30 odd years of pain and fear of losing again and again is somewhere still embedded inside. Bloody hard to shake off.
Like I've always said (until 2017) Richmond was the only team in the AFL that could lose the unloseable game so consistently.

Obviously Fagan gave Conca that vote as he was clearly Brisbane's best player... :shh
-
Astbury (FB), Cotch (C) and Dusty (FF) all made the AFL website's Team of the Week.

I thought it was Dimma, the man that won't drop him unless he is injured...... :shh
-
Reece plays his role and I wouldn't be surprised if it was Fagan who gave him that vote as Reece doesn't need validation from Dimma :shh
