A strong 10 weeks won't be enough to save Simmonds, Polak, Pettifer, Johnson and Bowden. The careers of Cousins and Richo hang by a hamstring, but if they can get thru the rest of this season without recurrences of previous problems, then they are probably safe for one year. Personally I'd be tapping Richo on the shoulder but won't complain if he goes around again.

King survives because he is contracted.

Coughlan needs to do something to give us a reason to extend for a year. We have a history of letting knee reco guys go a year early but I can't see us making a huge mistake if Cogs is let go at the end of this year.

Ditto Brown.

I'd be keeping anyone 23 or under, either to remain on the list or possible trade. I'd view most of these younger players as relatively untapped talent.

Look to trade Tuck for anything under pick 35, otherwise keep. Trade Schulz for anything under pick 70. Trade McMahon for anything under pick 110.

IMO: Raines, Oakley-Nicholls, Coughlan, Hughes need to show something.

Guys that should be cut like McMahon, King, Schulz are protected by a contract!!!  :banghead

Its really frustrating that some under performing players are protected by contract technicalities.

I can hear the screams of disapproval now when Cogs is let go before players like King and McMahon.

I dont think anything is going to save Simmonds,Pettifer,Polak,JON and Cogs.

Nathan Brown is now 50/50.....he has to show much better form or its bye bye.

Hughes or Schultz.....one has to go at the end of the year.

Cousins & Richos future depends on the new coach.

Good thread.

Of the vets?

Bowden, Sugar, Simmonds are definately gone.

Brown, Cousins & Richo (remaining games?) all need to maintain form and fitness to survive or they are also gone.

Of the rest uncontracted?

I think those need a strong back end are Raines, Pattison & Coughlan (who may go anyway).

Bar a miracle Hughes, JoN, Pettifer, Polak are all gone anyway.

Should be moved on if possible?

Schulz, King & McMahon may be moved on by alternative means.

Ignoring the usual suspects who should go (or won't because they are contracted  :scream ) and oldies who will retire then on the edge IMO are Brown, Cogs, Raines, Patto, Gourdis, Cleve, Connors (has had no preseason but needs to show discipline). I think the new coach will mull over these guys' futures the most.

Some won't need a strong 2nd half to be staying anyway.
