How did we all rate Castagna's year?

If he nailed his shots on goal I’d give him a 9.

I gave him a 7.

Gun player, critical to our team IMO.

Marked him down for a sub-50% conversion rate. If he was anywhere near 60-70% he'd be almost AA.

6/10

Just misses to many shots at goal including out of bands on the full. He had a good year but his kicking is shizenhausen and thats why he only gets a 6.

Simply needs to convert more. Also I felt his positioning around Lynch at times was average. That being said it’s an area the whole club can improve on. It’s ridiculous that Martin is our second highest goal kicker above castagna given that Martin also plays on ball.

To castagna credit his speed and contested marking is amazing

Below par for me.

Missing shots is one thing, but I really don’t like the brain fades.

It will cost us big time one day.

That being said, I appreciate he is a key player in our team. His tackling is first rate and we covet the pressure he can apply.

x2. I gave him 6 also.
Although he has improved in his decision making he still makes some stupid decisions.
I do like how he took the opposition on with his run and carry from further up the ground which was really where he had grown in maturity and belief this year.

I think he should learn to kick goals on his left foot, cant be much worse

That's not the problem. WAT was still kicking coach when George got to the club

Dusty is a once in a generation, freakish player and one of the best finishers in the league. We often set specific plays to keep Dusty isolated deep in the forward line.

Castagna is at best an important role player. I see your point but it makes perfect sense that Dusty would have more goals than just about anyone else in the team.

I gave him a 7

Yes the misses in the GF were bad go back a week to the Prelim and he kicked 2 clutch goals when we're on the ropes.

Some weeks his goal kicking is good other weeks below average.

But on the things he his mainly in the side for he doesn't let us down, gives 100% every week.

Can't ask for more

Gets a 7 from me. Hardwick said last night he performs his role to a tee each week. That's why he gets selected. Would they like him to kick more accurately? Of course. He will only be replaced by someone who can play the same role AND kick goals. Until then,  he stays in.

Well done George.

Anybody who remembers Jake King stinking it up as a defensive forward will think of George as a massive upgrade!
I love George for his speed, aggression, massive tank, pressure & bone-snapping tackles.  His goal kicking & kicking in general could obviously be better, but he has already shown he is capable of massive improvements in many areas of his game, lets see him improve his kicking next.  Have a great pre-season George ...    ;D

Best performed small forward of the year, never stops trying and is good in the air too, whether it be marking or creating a marking contest.

It will be interesting to see what some give Rioli considering George has been much better than him this year..... and last year..... and the year before that.

George would be the first small forward picked every week.

And Georgie’s field kicking is pretty good and I’ll back him over the summer to improve his goal kicking.

Players like George are the reason we can have so many stars like Jack, Cotch, Dusty, Rance, Prestia and Lynch.
Players like George are almost as important as those guys when it comes to being successful and winning Premierships.

Try to remember that when judging guys like George.

10/10 for me.

I think you would be better off as a St.Kilda supporter- irrelevant

Kicked two goals in a prelim.

Kicked the best individual goal for Richmond against Fremantle.

Two time premiership star.

One of the bottom 4 players in our team for me. The lack of finishing is just too much for me. I know he does many other things well but chances up foward can  be hard to get so you have to take them, he doesn't.

Hardwick disagrees. There are many things he does that are for the team thst he is instructed to do but go unnoticed by many here. He'll often lead a defender away from the corridor to open up a hole for another player to fall into as part of a foray forward. The whole team does these sacrificial acts which we don't see but result in us having a distinct advantage.  One of the most unselfish teams ever to play the game.

As l said I know he does many other things well. Would be so much better if he did those things and finished in front of the big sticks as well. As to Hardwick agreeing  or not I don't claim to know but I'm pretty sure he would be happier if Georgie put a few more though.

Agree he can be frustrating at times but he is also unpredictable which makes him a nightmare match up.  He still has time to correct decision making and goal kicking.  If he can fix those things he becomes probably the most dangerous small forward in the game.

Regardless of any of that he's a 2 time Premiership player at Tigerland so everyone should be praising the guy.

Yeah, he really sucked the life out of our game in the Prelim when he nailed that one from the boundary.

I hope you’re trolling with that ^^

And as per usual you pot shot anyone whose opinion doesn’t agree with yours.

I’d agree that an explanation as to how that rating was arrived at would be good. But it would be much more constructive to ask for an explanation than to have a crack at someone.

It was a f$&king stupid and disrespectful opinion as was yours but I find you more irrelevant than Dio so I didn’t comment on yours.
And do me a favour, don’t tell me how I should post.... Dio knew I would bite so I did. Nothing to do with you mate.

Our best performing small forward this year and the only one of them not to be dropped.

Biggest positive is that he’s getting more involved in the game now rather than for the most part just confining himself to the forward 50.

Kicked his most goals in a season and improved in every key statistic. Agree with the comment above, it’s these no fuss, team first role players on the low end of the salary cap that both help us execute our game plan and fit in the number of stars we have.

Around 30 goals is very good for a small forward but yes if he could improve the 27.28 to something like 35.20 he would go up another level.

I would have given him a 6 but moved him up to a 7 as he doesn't have a famous surname
