Astbury went off with an ankle but came back on.
Fire away with your changes after that 'effort'? :help
-
Too many in the gun after tonight. Need to absorb this and get back to you.

Agree but for a start Stengle needs a run, i think Higgins can go after tonight.
Would like to see bolton get a run but unsute who to put in.
I think Dusty out changed our team balance, Caddy was shut down, they were all over Cotch.
Razor Ray out.
-
INS: Rioli, Townsend, Graham, Garthwaite
OUTS: Moore, Higgins, Menadue, BEllis
Wouldnt risk Dusty but of they want to risk Dusty he comes in for Grigg
Lucky in the extreme: Grigg, Butler, MacIntosh
-
Out Higgins, Menadue, Macintosh, BEllis, Butler
In Townsend, Martin, Rioli, Houli, Prestia
If some of the ins aren’t fit then throw a coin up to keep whatever spuds in

Butler and McIntosh must be dropped as they have been seriously poor this year. Townsend for McIntosh, Rioli for Butler, Dusty for Broad, Stengle for Higgins. Grigg lucky.

Graham should never have been dropped ahead of Butler and his soft efforts, if Mrakov has a good game on Sunday then he must come in for Menadue. As much as I like Miles, there's reasons why he's been stuck in the twos. Higgins is miles off, Dimma caught up on his first two games, that putrid screw kick back into the corridor, please! Caddy exposed for pace tonight, forced to play man on man, got lead to the ball and was slow and ineffective both defensively and offensively, hopefully just put it down to an off night. Castagna misses too many easy shots for a guy who doesn't get a lot of chances.
Anyway not the end of the world but it did show some worrying cracks that need to be fixed and quickly
-
Dusty will be back next week according to Dimma.
-------------------------------------
RICHMOND remains confident Dustin Martin will return for the Tigers' blockbuster round 13 clash against Geelong.
Martin was sidelined with a calf problem, but coach Damien Hardwick says it's not a serious injury.
"We're anticipating he'll play," Hardwick said.
"If the game (against Port) was Sunday he probably plays but we were just a couple of days short.
"It's one of those ones you can push the envelope and he's probably going to miss possibly two if it goes pear-shaped.
"We'd rather just take the week and get him back and play him in the Geelong game."

With most of the sentiments here.
Higgins back to,the 2s and I'd give Stengel a crack, Mrakov for Menadue.
Butler has been poor this year then pulls one out in the nick of time to save his bacon.
Townsend Rioli graham back in for mcintosh
Bit more toughness and pressure back in the side.
We miss Prestia
Moore needs to learn and probably will be a lot better against the cats with a few changes to the team
It's round 12, wasn't good but better now than later

Oops I guess we squeeze that kiwi bloke in too :rollin

Back running
Hopefully after the bye 😉

...and at the end of the year he'll be saying bye..... :shh
-
If Markov puts his hand up the VFL tomorrow he should replace Menadue....
Moore was abysmal last night but still like to see him given a decent block of games and we're back at the fortress next week.....but Geelong can make mince meat of inexperienced players and at least we know Townsend won't take a backward step... :shh
Rioli for Higgins, Martin for Miles will be the most likely changes....
-
Time for Garthwaite over Broad.

Agree
Graham back in too...should never have been dropped.... :shh

Wasn't one of our worst. No point arguing with people who only see what they want to see & claim any kid in the 2's is already a better player :lol
Just love how we lose & it was all because of Bellis, Conca or Shaun Grigg. It's never anyone else. :lol
-
Who said it was just them? Though they do tend to be common denominators even if the other culprits around them may change.... :shh

Usual suspects going at Ellis. Ditto Conca. Grigg gets no love these days but I think he's bordering being past it now as well.
A few always seem to escape scrutiny. Lambert was terrible against Essendon and very very ordinary last night. Been ordinary most of the season actually. Butler was a disgrace. The 3 small forwards didn't do anywhere near enough. Caddy did SFA.
I mean, it's a team sport and a lot of the side was down. You can't drop 'em all.
-
I for one pointed all those blokes out except Caddy who I forgot...though unlike the others he has some credits this year.....Lambert's been below average all year and Butler's been woeful in probably 9 out of 12 matches.....McIntosh & Broad another couple who've been more poor than good....certainly no better than blokes who've been dropped like Townsend & Graham....I'm hardly a fan of his but Castagna hasn't been as nearly bad as everyone makes out but having said that he still hasn't been that great....Moore was poor, Miles was useless last night too and showed why he doesn't get picked and Mendue is the biggest passenger if not since Tambling at least since Corey Ellis was last in the seniors ....hell, even Nankervis had a shocker... :shh

I thought Nank was OK, had one of those moments that looked bad on TV but overall thought he was OK
-
Moore - would like to see him get a few more games, but his efforts were pathetic last night
Menadue - total passenger had his chance will be dropped
Butler - insipid. Has been poor in at least half his games this season,
Macca - has had about 2 decent games, surely has used up how credits
Higgins - needs a spell in the twos, love his work but was overwhelmed last night
all in the gun
Hopefully Rioli, towno, Markov, wombat, Bolton, Garthwaite all play well in the reserves to get a shot
-
If Astbury isn't 100% fit, I'd play Garthwaite. Great opportunity to debut. He has been brilliant in the twos.
I know WP didn't like Bolton's game but I thought he was one of our best and laid 5 tackles (wow for him). He comes in for Higgins. Martin in for Menadue, Conca or Miles. Balta in for Moore because he can give Nank a chop out.
-
Garthwaite was uncharacteristically poor yesterday but should still be the only real option to replace Astbury if required....Miller was even worse and not ready for AFL anyway...is still learning to play in the backline after mainly being a forward/ruck in juniors... :shh

It was heart in mouth stuff when he got trod on while snapping the goal, thankfully they checked it out, assessed no damage and he went back on for the rest of the game - theres no way theyd risk him. At the end of the game he also did some run throughs, which is a big positive - obviously wanted to get the miles in the legs in prep for this week. He's fine

Anyone got further news re injury to Oleg Markov?

Anyone got further news re injury to Oleg Markov?
We'll await the club injury report. It looked like a medial ligament from afar which is a 4 to 6 week injury but I might be completely wrong.
-
Hopefully it’s not a big knee, pity about Markov, just can’t get a good run at it this season injury wise

Rioli ready for recall
Daniel Rioli strongly pushed his case for selection in Richmond’s Round 13 senior side against Geelong at the MCG on Sunday with a lively display at VFL level yesterday.
The quick, slick small forward was one of the team’s best players in the narrow loss to Williamstown at Burbank Oval, finishing the match with 18 disposals, 10 contested possessions, four handball receives, three tackles and two goals.
In his second full game back from the broken foot he sustained during the last quarter of the Tigers’ 2017 Grand Final triumph over Adelaide, Rioli moved smoothly throughout and created plenty of opportunities for teammates with typically clever play.
Another premiership Tiger in Jacob Townsend also boosted his chances of a return to the senior line-up with a strong performance yesterday.
Townsend had 16 disposals, took four marks, kicked two goals and was at his defensive-minded best, applying 11 tackles.

The Barometer - Round 13
Herald-Sun
12 June 2018
ON THE BLOCK: Callum Moore will struggle to hold his spot after battling to get a touch on Friday night and Connor Menadue hasn’t taken his chance at senior level. They seem the two obvious outs but Kamdyn McIntosh could also be under the pump after just 17 disposals in his past two games. David Astbury looked in all sorts of trouble when he was helped off by trainers with an apparent leg injury in the first half against Port Adelaide but he returned after halftime and played out the match.
ON THE CUSP: Tiger fans and SuperCoach players will be praying Dustin Martin is fit after spending the weekend in New Zealand. Damien Hardwick said if the Port game had been on Sunday Dusty would have played which is a positive sign, but he has to get through training this week. Daniel Rioli appears ready for his first senior game since breaking his foot in the Grand Final after kicking two exciting goals in the VFL yesterday (he limped off the ground in the last quarter but returned). Corey Ellis (28 disposals) is still banging on the door and Jacob Towsend (two goals, 11 tackles) is ready if needed.
AL PATON’S FORECAST: Any thoughts the Tigers will give Dusty a leave pass until after the bye went out the window with Friday night’s loss. Sunday’s clash against the Cats is massive and Richmond needs to win to stay safe in the top four. The Tigers won three of four quarters against the Power but lost the contested possessions by 34 which won’t cut it against Geelong, which will have done some homework after being undone at the MCG in last year’s finals. Martin and Rioli would be two pretty handy inclusions.

In Rioli, Martin and Townsend.
Out: Moore, Menadue, Higgins.
Would like to try and get Bolton and Stengle in the team because their form warrants selection. Butler and McIntosh may be at risk. Garthwaite may come in for Astbury or Broad if either out injured.
-
I would like to see
Outs- Higgins, Menadue, Moore, Conca and Grigg
Ins- Dusty, Stengle, Townsend, Rioli and Bolta.
And if Astbury doesn’t come up but I think he will, Garthwaite to come in.
-
Has Hardwick ever made more than two or three changes without it being forced upon because of injuries?
I can’t even remember him dropping players when we were getting thrashed.
Will he drop players who were putrid last week?
I doubt it because it’s not his style. Conca is a liability but won’t ever get dropped. Macintosh has been woeful but continually gets games, maybe he would be better suited in theforward line as a high flanker?
Butler was putrid in Adelaide but won’t get replaced. I’d bring in Stengle which will keep them both hungry, best performed plays finals simple.
BEllis should be on a wing but with Houli out we have to put up with him pootting himself and his opponent clicking four. If it were up to me he’d wouldn’t be in the team at all but I’d still rather see him on a wing and I’d tell him if he doesn’t kick it over 40 metres forwards each time he gets it he wouldn’t be playing next week. He should be kicking goals from outside 50 with that foot. :banghead
If you could combine all the best attributes of both Conca with BEllis you’d almost have an excellent player unfortunately we have what we have. :rollin

RICHMOND
Get them in: Daniel Rioli is now officially banging down the door now. He had 18 disposals (10 contested) and kicked two goals against Williamstown on Sunday. Also, Jacob Townsend and Corey Ellis impressed while defender Ryan Garthwaite is on the cusp, and of course, they have a handy player called Dustin Martin to bring in as well while Jack Graham is fresh after a week off.
Under the pump: Callum Moore was subdued against the Power while Connor Menadue didn't have a heap of it. Anthony Miles had 20 touches without starring in his first AFL game for the year but will come under pressure particularly if Martin is available or Graham is recalled. Dan Butler was also quiet and has Rioli circling to steal his spot.
Medical room: David Astbury played out the Power loss with a sore ankle and will be tested but looks up against it. Nathan Broad reportedly has a sore back and will be managed this week while Martin is set to return after resting his calf. Sam Lloyd is likely to miss after being handed a two-match VFL rough conduct suspension, downgraded to one with an early plea.
Verdict: The Tigers' third loss could spark some changes. Rioli and Townsend to be recalled, Moore and Butler in trouble. The return of Martin and Graham to the midfield will see Miles and possibly Menadue out, while Garthwaite is ready to go if Astbury doesn't get up.

Out: Moore, Higgins, Menadue, Conca
In: Towners, Dusty, Rioli, Graham
Again think butler and mcintoshs form this season has long warranted a spell in the twos with Bolton/Stengle coming in and whoever the best performer in the 2s is which I guess from last week would be CEllis. Also don’t think Broads form has been particularly strong this season and since we’re generally playing an extra tall down back would consider bringing in an extra runner/mid for him.

RICHMOND FANS REJOICE
JON RALPH reports ...
DUSTIN Martin and Daniel Rioli are certain starters on Sunday, adding further lustre to a blockbuster MCG clash against Geelong.
Brownlow Medallist Martin missed last week’s loss to Port Adelaide with calf soreness but survived training at Punt Road today.
Finals hero Daniel Rioli has played four VFL games after breaking his foot in the Grand Final, surviving an injury scare late in Sunday’s clash.
He kicked two goals in an impressive display but had doctors look at his foot after it was trodden on when he kicked his second goal.
Tigers physical performance manager Peter Burge said yesterday Martin, who returned from New Zealand on Sunday, was fit to play.
“Dustin’s great. He had a good running session yesterday and he’s symptom free,’’ he said.
“He just needed an extra day or two from the soreness of last week. Unfortunately, with the six-day break, we just got caught a tiny bit short.
“So he’ll be fine for this week. We expect him to train all week and play.”
Burge said David Astbury was likely to be fit to take on the Cats despite twisting his ankle in the Power clash, while the Tigers are hopeful Rioli can "step up to the next level".

Does anyone believe Dusty was ever injured :D
-
He hasn't shown any of his 2017 explosiveness but that could just be him playing at 3rd gear to ramp up towards sept.even though we lost I thought he was great against Adelaide and was also one of our better players against the Eagles
-
Ch 7 news tonight showed Dusty doing full training but they said "inside sources" are saying he could still miss this week.
They also said Astbury didn't train.
-
Dimma said Dusty is definitely playing this week. So to Rioli. He thinks Graham will return too.......

OUTS: Conca. MacIntosh. Higgins. B.Ellis. Butler. Moore.

Menadue 1 more week to gain experience and adds extra pace to the side play him wing. C. Ellis deserves his opportunity as does Miles as does Stengle. Townsend adds grunt as does Graham.
Well balanced team that should easily account for Geelong.
A lot of changes but it puts everyone on notice before the bye.

Tigers star Dustin Martin is tipped to return from a calf injury.
While defender David Astbury is making great progress after he suffered what looked to be a nasty ankle injury against Port Adelaide.

Meant to go with the classic :shh
I do think Moore has something to offer and agree he needs to be persisted with. Would have been very harsh to drop him after one bad game. If he puts in another non competitive performance then there's a dilemma but a young KPF is something this club needs, so I'd back him in for a run of games
