The Seagulls will face minor premiers Richmond in the decider at Ikon Park, the Tigers having lost just two games this season.
Despite the prospect of Ivan Soldo dropping back to VFL level, Meese said he wouldn't be worrying too much about the Tigers' possible ruck combinations.
"I've played against big Soldo before, he's an absolutely quality player," Meese said.
"Him and Nank [Toby Nankervis] were up [in the seniors] last week, so I'm not sure what's coming my way.
"We'll just cross that bridge when we get there, there's no point worrying now, it's out of my control."

Meese dominated against the bombers, will be a big job for whoever’s playing ruck for us.
-
This could be a glorious weekend for the club.

Set for a lengthy spell. Didn’t look anything more than a clumsy late hit to the back of the head during the game but heard during the bombers game that the port player suffered multiple fractures to the face.

Set for a lengthy spell. Didn’t look anything more than a clumsy late hit to the back of the head during the game but heard during the bombers game that the port player suffered multiple fractures to the face.
Given they especially take into account what injuries the player on the receiving end copped, Aarts has just cost himself a potential VFL premiership medallion. He's also played his last game for us unless he stays around going back to being a VFL-listed player.
-
3-6 weeks I reckon
O'Sullivan's Dad going on 3AW this morning wouldn't have helped
Shouldn't make any difference but stuff like that does

VFL Tigers and Seagulls battle for premiership glory
Brenton Mann
AFL media
Sep 19, 2019
Richmond and Williamstown will add another chapter to their storied rivalry as they fight for premiership glory in the VFL Grand Final on Sunday at Ikon Park.
It will be the second Grand Final for the Tigers in three years after Richmond eclipsed Port Melbourne by 26 points in last Saturday's preliminary final, while the Seagulls toppled Essendon by the same margin.
The pair has met once this year, with Richmond putting in one its best performances of the season to knock off Williamstown on their home patch at Fort Gellibrand, a feat the Club had never before achieved.
The Tigers will look to repeat the dose on Sunday.
VFL backline coach, Ryan Ferguson, spoke on SEN on Tuesday night about the “healthy rivalry” the two clubs have built over the last few years.
“I think the message coming out of both camps is the healthy rivalry that we have,” Ferguson said.
“We respect each other so much but we also love playing against one another and want to prove a point to each other, so I think the respectful rivalry is going to be huge on the weekend.
There’s a subtle blend of Yellow and Black in the Williamstown camp. The 2016 Guinane Medallist for Richmond VFL's Best and Fairest player, Adam Marcon, captains the side while former VFL Tiger, Nick Mellington, will also suit up for the Segulls.
Ferguson had a short stint at Downer Oval as a player, but his allegiances are well and truly entrenched at Punt Road.
“I do have fond memories of being there (Williamstown) but we’d love to beat them on Sunday,” Ferguson said.
A blossoming rivalry, coupled with the ferocity that both sides will bring, means gaining the edge in the clinches could hold the key to victory.
“(Williamstown is) similar in some ways to us as they love the contest,” Ferguson said.
“For any fans out there thinking about going along, it’s going to be a great game.
“It’s going to be an old-fashioned contested game of footy, so that’s going to be pretty cool.”
Seagulls forward Nick Ebinger bagged five majors last week against the Bombers and was aptly supported by swingman, Billy Myers, who booted four.
Richmond’s defensive unit was at its imperious best in last weekend's win over the Borough, and Ferguson is aware of the attacking weapons that Williamstown has in its arsenal.
“Their ability to find ways to score goals…they’ve got some big tall guys that can take marks and they’ve got those medium types and wily smalls, so they’ve got lots of different avenues to goal,” Ferguson said.
“It’s certainly going to prove a challenge for us and we’ll back in our team defence and our connection amongst each other with our backs, but also our forward pressure and our midfield contested stuff.”
One of the strengths of Richmond this year, which has afforded the Tigers the opportunity to etch their mark in history, is the strength of its VFL list.
Fielding three VFL players in its preliminary final win means that some hard conversations will have been had this week.
Players who have given so much of themselves will need to be told that they’ll be watching the game from the stands.
VFL coach, Craig McRae spoke at the VFL press conference on Tuesday about the difficulty of delivering such tough news.
“It’s heartbreaking really,” McRae said.
“With a heavy heart I have the conversation…those guys invest so much in our program and they’re the reason we’re in this position.
“We’ve got a great culture. We’ve got 24 VFL-listed players and they’ll train knowing that they may not get an opportunity, but they turn up, they work all day and they turn up.”
Ferguson also spoke about the importance of the core group of VFL Tigers, who have carried the load for a large chunk of the year.
“We’ve got a whole lot of development coaches in a way, Steve Morris, Hugh Beasley, Dan Coffield, Jacob Ballard, Tom Silvestro. I don’t know if people know about them, but we love them and they make our AFL guys better,” he said.
“Some of these guys have to stand aside to give these AFL guys a great experience.
“We just love our culture among the AFL list, the VFL list, our connection. We see that as a competitive advantage.”
Nick Meese is Williamstown’s lion-hearted ruckman and put in another masterful display in his side’s semi-final win over Essendon, finishing with a mammoth 70 hit-outs, 25 disposals and four tackles.
When asked how he’ll look to combat Meese, McRae was pragmatic with his response.
“Thankfully we’ve got Ivan Maric to take care of that because clearly I didn’t win too many hit-outs in my career,” McRae said, with a wry grin.
“(Maric) does a fantastic job with our developing ruckman and he’ll go to work on the tape and have a look at how we can combat (Nick Meese’s) influence.
“We’ve got three young developing ruckmen who are obviously going to ask some questions of (Meese) as well.
One of those young developing ruckmen is Callum Coleman-Jones, who put in another sterling performance last Saturday, finishing with 17 disposals, 24 hit-outs and three marks.
Another player whose name has been put up in lights this finals series is Marlion Pickett. Silky, courageous, graceful and steely—Pickett is all those things and more. He has been a key player of this finals series.
Recruited via the mid-season draft, Pickett has had limited time to adapt to his new surroundings and teammates, a point that McRae touched on, on Tuesday.
“Ultimately, he didn’t really know the ‘Richmond Way’ that well and he’s learning on the job, so he’s getting better and better and I’m really excited about this week,” McRae said.
Tickets to the VFL Grand Final are available here (https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/vflvflw-grand-finals-2019-vfl-rich-v-will-and-vflw-bull-v-coll-tickets-72827441839?ref=estw). Those unable to make it to the clash can watch it live on Channel 7 from 1.30pm.
Tiger fans can also follow live updates from Adcon Stadium via the Richmond VFL Instagram and Twitter accounts.
Richmond's team will be announced at 7.00pm tonight.

Midfielder Kamdyn McIntosh says the VFL Tigers will grasp the opportunity in front of them, as they look towards securing the Club’s first reserve-grade premiership since 1997 this Sunday.
Following a VFL Grand Final loss in 2017 and a devastating semi-final exit last year, McIntosh said the chance to fight for a flag is “massive”.

-
Anyone know of any good spots to park near the ground?
-
Park in the city and tram it. Parking will be diabolical
-
The sports doctor on SEN just said Stack has been pulled out of today's VFL GF.
Can anyone confirm?
-
Mcintosh and Ross not playing. Add Sydney Stack is playing today.
-
Stack is playing. McIntosh and Ross rested
-
Stack playing 3 quarters, sitting out the first
-
RCD playing well.Pickett doing some nice things.
-
Seriously, this woeful.
9 points in 22 minutes
We should be 5 goals up by now
-
Finally getting value for our dominance.
-
3.4 from 23 inside 50s :-\.
Naish marks and kicks our 3rd.
Rich 3.4-22
Willy 0.0-0
27 min Q1
-
Hope the seniors bring this pressure next week.
-
Eggy to Menadue who spots up Towner 40 out. Nice bend. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 4.4-28
Willy 0.0-0
-
Contested footy: 42 - 35
Inside 50s: 24 - 2
-
Is there a breeze favouring us this qtr?
-
Quarter time
Richmond 4.4-28
Williamstown 0.0-0
Goals: Pickett, Naish, Townsend, Ballard.
-
Is there a breeze favouring us this qtr?
Yep. Willy parked the bus that first qtr.
We'll find out how strong the breeze really is when Willy have it this qtr.
-
Straight out of the centre. Menadue on the run from 30 hits the post.
29 - 0
-
3 inside 50s to start the 2nd qtr.
Stack to CCJ who goes long and Moore marks 40 out. Falls short. Stack tackled and it's a ball-up 10 out. Rushed.
30 - 0
-
Stack banana from the boundary misses.
31 - 0
-
Stack good early signs
-
We gift them a 50 and goal when they didn't look like scoring :banghead. No one on the mark and then we get pinged for being in the protective area as CCJ tries to get to the mark from the side.
31 - 6
-
Butler reported for a stomach punch. Undisciplined as we had the ball on F50 :banghead.
-
When kicking into the breeze our forwards need to play in front as the ball will hold up and drop short.
-
Shallow entries so far this quarter.
Butler won't be there against us round 1. On report
-
CCJ dragged down after disposal in the ruck. Set shot 40 out. Breeze drags it from outside the right post to across the left for a point.
32 - 7
-
Butler won't be there against us round 1. On report
-
They kick one from the boundary.
32 - 14
-
Oleg Markov needs to go. Absolute coach killer, momentum killer. Turns it over so much.
They run it up and goal. 18 points in it.
Game on.
-
:banghead
-
Willy winning the contests.
Poor defending. Eggy jumps too early when he didn't need to. Lucky they miss an easy one.
32 - 15
-
That's why you're going Butler :facepalm.
-
Another free against Markov whilst we go forward. Trade him for whatever
-
C'mon. So many errors
-
Can our forwards just K.I.S.S. :facepalm. It's a grand final Balta.
-
Do these guys realise it's a grand final.
Not coping with the lift in intensity.
Shot for goal. Big moment....
Misses 16 points. Half time
-
Shot to Willy from 50 after the siren. Misses.
Half-time
Richmond 4.4 4.8-32
Williamstown 0.0 2.4-16
Goals: Pickett, Naish, Townsend, Ballard.
-
Rcd and Pickett unable to make big contributions that quarter. Stack has started ok but needs to do more in the last half to get a spot next weekend. No one really putting there hand up atm.
-
We won't be changing our ruck combo based on the first half.
Leading ballgetters.
Butler 11
Eggy 10
Menadue 10
-
Rcd and Pickett unable to make big contributions that quarter. Stack has started ok but needs to do more in the last half to get a spot next weekend. No one really putting there hand up atm.
DES is dominating.
-
He is a long way off being able to play in an afl gf.
-
Ex-Tigers Miles and Sam Lloyd in the stands watching and supporting the boys.
-
Rcd and Pickett unable to make big contributions that quarter. Stack has started ok but needs to do more in the last half to get a spot next weekend. No one really putting there hand up atm.
It seems it's either Ross or McIntosh in for Graham. The club wouldn't have pulled them out otherwise.
-
If stack plays well id prefer him in tbh.
-
Our forward 50 entries must improve if we are to hold on here. So far just bombing it. Will cost us.
-
Can we have someone on both 'sides' at stoppages. Willy just tapping it back to free players to win the clearance.
-
If stack plays well id prefer him in tbh.
Yep. At least he is clean with his disposal.
We are making so many dumb mistakes with our disposal.
-
If the game was simply about tackling we'd be 100 points up. Lacking some poise
-
Back to 9 points. Big trouble
-
This is as dumb as footy as I’ve ever seen :banghead
-
Another slow lazy bomb forward by Turner there when he had a free man short to his right (he didn't look).
Ump sucked in. Willy player drops the ball and gets 50 ::). Two 50s gifting them two goals so far :banghead.
32 - 23
-
Markov high snap floats for a point.
33 - 23
-
Are we playing blindfolded? Dumb dumb kicks forward :banghead.
-
We're allowing them to play in front when they are kicking into the breeze :facepalm.
33 - 24
-
No one can mark the ball up forward.
-
Balta on the run from 50 misses.
34 - 24
-
No one can mark the ball up forward.
And they are marking everything so controlling the ball.
-
Another butchered chance. RCD grounds the 'pass' with Menadue on the lead.
McRae needs to give them a rocket at 3/4 time.
-
In the back to Towner?
-
Really struggling, run is gone. You just get the feeling the more mature bodies will start to take over. Hope not.
Miller gives away a dumb kick 10 meters out back to 3
-
Miller :facepalm. Lost our brains. Getting sucked into their niggle tactics.
34 - 26
-
Stacks been ordinary. No hope of coming in next week
-
Nank can breathe easy.
-
Inside 50s: 47 - 18
And we're only 8 points up ::).
Just slop going forward and once in there butchering chances.
-
Just cannot take a mark inside 50. Balta, Chol, Moore, Ccj must lift or go small.
Great goal RCD
-
Finally we kick a goal.
RCD on the run from 50 sails one through :gotigers.
Rich 5.10-40
Will 3.8-26
Can thank Morris for the turnaround. Two key intercept marks.
-
Classy goal from RCD
-
3/4 time
Richmond 4.4 4.8 5.10-40
Williamstown 0.0 2.4 3.8-26
Goals: Pickett, Naish, Townsend, Collier-Dawkins, Ballard.
-
Inside 50s: 47 - 18
And we're only 8 points up ::).
Just slop going forward and once in there butchering chances.
Any chance we can lower the eyes and hit up a leading target? :banghead
The worse inside 50 entries I’ve ever seen. :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Stacks been ordinary. No hope of coming in next week
He can high impact playing a role at half forward. He is clean, quick still a chance I reckon.
-
Leading ballgetters:
Eggy 15
Weller 14
Menadue 13
-
Stack hurt. Limping off after that contest.
-
Willy ruckman continually pulling CCJ's jumper and the umps are letting it go ::).
And cause it stays in their forward line they get a goal :scream.
40 - 32
-
Markov having a stinker :facepalm.
40 - 33
-
Markov is going to single handedly lose this for us.
-
I’ll say one thing, the umpiring is ordinary at best.
-
Back to one point. Dare I say we are gone
-
Umps wearing Willy jumpers trying to get them over the line.
Another goal to them after what should have been a free to us (Eggy held without the ball) ::).
40 - 39
-
The bald headed umpire is terrible
-
Umpires very ordinary
-
Steve Morris been amazing. You goal mate
Back to 7
-
:gotigers
Morris showing why he the VFL captain. Just bursts through to Butler - over the shoulder handpass to Towner who slams it home.
Rich 6.10-46
Will 5.9-39
10 min Q4
-
Well done RCD. Been good today.
-
Pickett out of the middle hands to RCD who slams another on the run from 50 (this one into the breeze) :clapping :gotigers
Rich 7.10-52
Will 5.9-39
-
Chol that was closer to the corner flag than the goal lol.
-
Bunch of undisciplined idiots
-
What was the free kick for?
-
We have all momentum and the ball. Chol gives away off the ball kick. Goal back to 7
-
Get stuffed Ump. 'Oh no Willy after losing so we better pull a free out of nowhere and gift them a goal' ::).
52 - 45
-
Balta long. CCJ almost takes the pack mark. Butler goes across goal and finds Markov 40 out. Goal! :gotigers
Rich 8.10-58
Will 6.9-45
17 min Q4
-
Sick of biased umpires
-
Here we go another cheap free to Willy off the ball ::).
-
A couple of points to them.
58 - 47
20 min Q4
-
We can't buy a free. That was HTB against Marcon.
-
Umpires doing there best to get Willy over the line
-
#FreeKickWilliamstown
-
Umps are cheats. That was a free for too high to Towner in front of the sticks and they pay it the other way >:( >:( >:(.
-
Balta great run down tackle saves the day.
-
Balta to Towner to Moore 40 out. Falls short. We keep it in our F50. But then Willy clear.
27 mins gone.
-
Goal to them.
58 - 53
28 mins Q4
-
Callum Moore needed to not have that shot.
5 points
-
This umpiring is a disgrace. Blatant cheating.
-
These umpires are a disgrace
-
Wily hits the post.
58 - 54
31 min Q4
-
Umpiring is a joke
-
Terrible Butler. You had to keep it in there not cough it up.
They miss again.
58 - 55
32 min Q4
-
SIREN! :gotigers
-
Won against 25. Poor umps must be devastated ::).
Well done Tiges. We're VFL Premiers! :clapping
-
My God how long did that quarter go for!!
We've done it. 3 points.
Well done Tigers, good scrapping. Tried hard to lose it late
-
Umpires should be sacked from the panel. How they umpired was is and always has been unacceptable.
-
I thought the umpires had one hand on the cup until Richmond managed to wrestle it off them ...
Well done Tigers! :clapping :clapping :gotigers
-
I'll say it again. Umpiring pathetic and always against us in the VFL.
-
Butler did his best to lose it, along with the cheating umpire
Thank goodness they missed
-
Pickett awarded the Norm Goss medal :clapping.
Watch the media go crazy now about him putting his hand up today for a debut in an AFL GF :yep.
-
How did Stack,Chol and Kmac go?.
-
How did Stack,Chol and Kmac go?.
KMac didn't play. He and Ross held out
-
Did our best to lose it :rollin :rollin
-
How did Stack,Chol and Kmac go?.
KMac didn't play. He and Ross held out
Stack got a knock, didn't do a lot. Chol was ok but ineffective up forward. Good in the stuff against Meese.
-
Pickett awarded the Norm Goss medal :clapping.
Watch the media go crazy now about him putting his hand up today for a debut in an AFL GF :yep.
Have already heard it listening to the start of the WAFL grandfinal.

Final Score

Pickett 20
Eggy 20
Weller 18
Stack - 6 disposals, 2 marks, 2 tackles.
-
I thought pickett was good in the last quarter especiallly.
Yep. A couple of key centre clearances which set up last quarter goals.
The best game by far I've seen RCD play. Involved in most of the action all day and two classy and crucial finishes on the run.
-
RCD will be a player. Just needs time and another preseason.
-
Pickett awarded the Norm Goss medal :clapping.
Watch the media go crazy now about him putting his hand up today for a debut in an AFL GF :yep.
Have already heard it listening to the start of the WAFL grandfinal.
We had to sing the song twice because Pickett missed the first one doing media interviews lol.
-
The other who stood up in the last was CCJ. Took some strong marks down the line when we needed it.

A BEST-ON-GROUND performance by Richmond mid-season draftee Marlion Pickett in Sunday's VFL Grand Final has opened the door for his remarkable call-up for Saturday's AFL decider against Greater Western Sydney.
Pickett had 19 possessions and nine tackles in the Tigers' thrilling three-point win over Williamstown at Ikon Park after he kicked the opening goal of the game.
He was crowned the Norm Goss medallist in the Tigers' maiden VFL premiership win after his strong bid to be considered for a debut at Thursday's AFL selection table.
However, Sunday's triumph is likely the only one Sydney Stack and Dan Butler will experience this week with the pair unlikely to figure in plans for the decider against the Giants.
As the Tigers hung on to claim victory after the Seagulls moved within one point and missed two chances to steal the lead late in the game, Stack was hobbled by a fresh collision injury to his lower right leg sustained early in the last quarter.
He spent time a brief period on the bench but looked less than convincing when he returned before he finished his managed minutes with a quiet six possessions.
The fresh injury will almost certainly rule the first-year revelation out of a remarkable return to the AFL stage this week, given the VFL decider was already his first game in 36 days following left ankle surgery.
Butler, who was one of the Tigers' best in the opening quarter as they raced to a 28-point lead, was reported for striking Williamstown's Nick Mellington in the second term.
The 2017 premiership forward was unlikely to figure in Damien Hardwick's plans for next week anyway, especially after the Tigers withdrew Kamdyn McIntosh and Jack Ross before the bounce.
Likewise fellow premiership teammate Jacob Townsend, who did all he could to press for a call-up with his typical hard-tackling approach, 11 possessions and two goals, including an important steadier in the last quarter after the Seagulls moved within one point.
Also strong for the Tigers, and in promising signs for the future, were Riley Collier-Dawkins through the midfield and Derek Eggmolesse-Smith across half-back.
The game looked all but done at the first change after the Seagulls failed to score in the opening term, but they clawed their way back into it after the Tigers failed to capitalise on their early dominance.
The half-time difference was 16 points after the Tigers didn't register a goal in the second, which allowed the Seagulls the chance to pounce after the main break.
Late in the fourth, Willie Wheeler had two chances to put Williamstown in the lead in the dying minutes but shanked two set shots, which allowed the Tigers to hold on to a historic victory.
It was the club's second VFL Grand Final appearance after finishing runners-up to Port Melbourne in 2017.

Wowee! That umpiring in the last quarter was the worst I’ve seen.
Good win by the boys...
-
As dominant a first quarter as you’ll see, game should have been over already. Then went to sleep for a half only kicking 1 goal. 4th was even but thankfully they missed those last 2 set shots. Bloody count up clock is brutal.
Pickett, Eggy, RCD, Morris and Beasley our best I thought.
Kmac for broad if doesn’t pull up (was telling people he was good to go at the ground)
Ross or Pickett for Graham if doesn’t pull up
No changes in the ruck
That bald umpire #12 trying to be the star of the show calling frees from 100m away when there’s an umpire 1m away saying play on.

Did our best to lose ...suck shyte Willy & Willy....Pickett is a natural born match winner...coiled up like a sleeping taipan, then bang... CCJ will be a superstar - still miles off it as a ruckman though....Stack no chance for the GF.....good riddance Butler....RCD likes big grounds & big games..... :shh
Bays got up in the SANFL as well... #tigertreble :shh :shh

I still cannot get over the biased umpires. Even beer has not helped. I wonder if there is ever a meeting held after a VFL game where Umps are required to explain the actions? There just seems to be no Umpire accountability at all at VFL level. There has been some horrendis games this year.

Does anyone know how big the crowd was for today's game?

VFL Tigers hold on for premiership glory

120 minutes. That’s how long it took for Richmond to overcome Williamstown by three points to secure the 2019 VFL premiership in the most dramatic fashion.
The Seagulls fought to the death, hitting the post twice in the dying stages as the nerves of both armies were jangling around Ikon Park.
In an arm-wrestle, it was the Tigers who held their nerve, grinding their way to a 8.10 (58) to 7.13 (55) Grand Final win.
"An azure wave, streaked with vertical white lines, rises up and up — and, somehow — up higher, until it dwarfs a red tower and row of silhouetted onlookers in the foreground." - Rafi Letzer, Planet Earth, 14 August 2018
Big wave surfers from across the globe stand make the pilgrimage to Nazaré, Portugal, stand on the shore and stare at a 24-metre high wall of water hurtling straight towards them.
They get towed into a moving mountain and must somehow stay calm, composed and clear-minded to the task at hand to simply survive.
For Richmond, Williamstown was a wave and when the Seagulls were hitting the Tigers with every ounce of their being, moving the ball from defensive 50 to forward 50 would have felt like swimming across Bass Strait.
The Tigers have been so diligent at staying present in the moment, sticking to the process and remaining connected for the full 120 minutes of each game.
The last quarter was littered with moments, Riley Collier-Dawkins’ goal, Steve Morris' hangers, Dan Butler’s slick hands to Jacob Townsend who goaled, Noah Balta’s rundown tackle.
The Tigers went nearly an hour without kicking a goal as Williamstown made its tilt.
In the end, however, Richmond’s want, trust and heart, blended with its system, carried it to the ultimate glory.
Marlion Pickett’s imperious finals series was capped off by being awarded the Norm Goss Medal for best afield.
When Richmond needed him most, Pickett answered the call.
Pickett’s ability to not have his vision or decision-making clouded by the chaos shone like a beacon, as he glided across the Ikon Park turf.
The silky midfielder was stiff and sturdy over the ball. He pierced through the eye of a needle to slot the opening goal of the game.
VFL senior coach, Craig McRae, has been the forefather of connection, and it’s been Richmond’s competitive advantage for most of his tenure.
The bedrock of Richmond’s surge to the Grand Final has been its defensive superiority, and that was on display from the get-go.
The Tigers won the territory battle. Richmond continually pumped the ball inside-50, putting Williamstown’s defenders under siege.
With one goal on the board at the 20-minute mark and the Seagulls scoreless, the margin didn’t reflect Richmond’s dominance.
Jacob Ballard then kick-started a string of goals for the Tigers.
After Pickett crawled over a trio of Seagulls to extract the ball from congestion, the Tigers shared the ball by hand, finishing with Ballard, who steadied and goaled on the run from just inside the arc.
Patrick Naish then found himself free inside 50, marked and kicked truly which was quickly followed by a similar set-shot from Jacob Townsend.
The Tigers’ led by 28 points at quarter-time.
90 minutes to go.
Williamstown, smarting from its first-quarter performance, lifted its pressure rating and started to swing the momentum in its favour.
The Tigers missed opportunities going inside 50, which allowed the Seagulls to gain control of the ball and march it up the field.
Williamstown got in the face of Richmond, forcing the Tigers to rush their disposals, missing shots on goal they would usually nail.
Pickett laid six tackles by half-time. Townsend and Butler combined for 10 tackles for the half also, with the pair energetic, alert and assertive both defensively and offensively.
The Seagulls slotted two goals and held Richmond goalless in the second term, the Tigers holding a 16-point lead at half-time.
60 minutes to go.
Williamstown repeated the dose in the third term, antagonising and irritating the Tigers and stifling their ball movement by controlling the air.
The Tigers went nearly an hour without kicking a goal as its back-half brothers acted like a dam wall.
Richmond needed a goal and up stood Riley Collier-Dawkins.
The young bull looked more like a colt hurtling down the Flemington straight when he gathered a loose ball in the corridor and goalled on the run—the Tiger Army awoke.
The margin was 14 points with 30 minutes left in the 2019 season. Most of the script had been written, with one act to go.
As the Seagulls took control of the skies, Callum Coleman-Jones exerted his aerial influence and arrested back the momentum for the Tigers.
The Tigers simply held firm against the towering swell and will enjoy the fruits that a premiership brings.
