Title: Changes for Cats game next week?
Post by: one-eyed on August 06, 2017, 08:25:53 PM
Dimma said he expects Jack back next week.

Fire away with your changes, if any?

Let's be honest, there isn't going to be any surprises. Very predictable club.
We barely make an unforced change when we lose by 70 points let alone have a win.
I'll take a punt

In- Jack
Out- Miles

If Jack is fit, I think we'll probably go:

In: Jack
Out: C Ellis (even though he had an impact today).

Had miles kicked those 2 goals I'd disagree. But looks likely.
Maybe soldo for jack.

Out of all the fumbles, missed targets and drop offs of effort, by far the angriest I got today was when Miles got caught in the goal square.
He is an AFL footballer and should be 1000% better than that.
Not good enough.

Still think we're a better team with him in it
While it was annoying, others made horrendous blues too.

I nominate Caddy, looks to have found his niche in going undetected without accountability

Agree, but if Dusty was running up beside me calling for the ball I'd probably look twice...

Grigg and Houli both were woeful. Both deserve to be dropped but won't be. Grigg's disposal definitely cost us goals yesterday.

Houli is our massive go to player, and his decision making is not up to it IMO.
Grigg is slow and tends to stop the fast play options. I think we should be looking at replacing these 2 in the off season but who would their replacements be OR who could stand up to fill their spots. Is Short a Houli type option?

Graham replaces Grigg. Markov replaces Houli. Short for Broad.

Id keep Broad, think hes good value and will get better as he settles in.

Watching the game yesterday it was obvious the 2 biggest momentum killers were Grigg and Houli - after a solid start to the season Grigg has reverted back to status quo over the past 3 weeks. Any two of Menadue, short, mrakov, Graham to replace them and I'd be happy

What does houli have that short doesn't ?

Short can atleast kick on his opposite so when the opposition does pressure him he doesn't have to handball to a team mate under pressure

Soldo is improving week by week I'm happy with him would keep him in the side.We look better with him and Nank.

You can't drop Soldo after his game, was solid and we will need him against Smith this week.
I also think Broad's inclusion is helping Grimes be more offensive so would keep him in also.
In Reiwoldt
Out Corey Ellis I am sorry to say.  If it's dry maybe Miles out.

What should happen:

Out: Miles, Soldo, Houli, Castagna, Grigg

In: Graham. Riewoldt, Short, Menadue, Lennon/Townsend

What will happen:

Out: Soldo

In: Riewoldt

Smith isn't some elite ruckman. The way nankervis is playing he definitely would be beating Smith.

We don't need Soldo I'd bring in another small forward with Jack. Either Bolton or Stengle.

Broad has been good, has slotted in well, would be cruel to throw him out now.

The Barometer - Round 21

Herald-Sun
8 August 2017

RICHMOND

ON THE BLOCK: No one deserves to be on the block after another outstanding display against Hawthorn on the weekend - a fourth straight win. But the fact of the matter is that Jack Riewoldt is likely to return so at least one unlucky Tiger is going to have to make way. Given it was a smaller side that dismantled the Hawks, could it be either of Ivan Soldo or Toby Nankervis? Not likely, if coach Damien Hardwick’s comments are anything to go by. It means that one of the side’s plethora of small forwards would be most likely to make way for Jumping Jack.

ON THE CUSP:
Riewoldt hurt his eye in a training mishap leading into the Gold Coast game. But just try holding him back for what shapes as a season-defining clash against Geelong on Saturday. “He was pretty close this week,” Damien Hardwick said. The Richmond VFL side had a bye so there’s no one from there really pushing their cause. Only Steven Morris (hamstring) is any chance to join Riewoldt in coming off the injury list.

MATT WINDLEY’S FORECAST:
Are the Tigers a certainty for top four? It’s looking that way after Sunday’s huge win over Hawthorn and the best part about the victory was it came without Riewoldt. Saturday’s clash with Geelong is going to be big and with the Cats to be without Joel Selwood, there has never been a better time for Richmond to snap its 12-game losing streak against Geelong. Riewoldt will likely come in for either Corey Ellis - who Hardwick indicted in his post-match press conference was “a bit sore” - or Anthony Miles.

In the Mix - Round 21

RICHMOND

Jack Riewoldt's return from an eye injury will strengthen an already firing forward line, so the big question facing the Tigers is who to drop? A complete 29-point win against Hawthorn will make the match committee's decision difficult ahead of Saturday's blockbuster against Geelong, and one of the club's small forwards might be due for a rest.

The VFL team had a bye, but half-back Jayden Short, half-forward Ben Lennon and small forward Tyson Stengle have produced good recent form. Midfielder Jacob Townsend was brought into the emergencies late last week in a sign he is in the coaches' thinking, but he did not play. Young onballer Jack Graham has also been close to making his debut, but this might not be the week to release the strong-bodied draftee.

A win and a VFL bye means no changes for mine (based on what I assume will happen)

Corey will come out i think. Bit worried about him actually, this might sound bizarre but i thought he actually look scared on some occasions on the weekend.

I think he just has a timid look about him. That mark against whoever it was a couple weeks ago showed he wasn't scared. He'll get more confidence with more size. Needs to put on a few kg over the summer

Jack is back into full training and will play if he gets the final tick-off from the eye specialist today.
