Logically, who do you think we will end up picking at pick 15?
Id be happy with any of the above, but have a gut feel we will end up selecting Adams.
-
I picked Docherty for no other reason than he appears to have a build ready to play a senior level
And his combine reuslts were good
-
Docherty for mine but he may go earlier. Adams would be my second pick out of that lot
-
I think they'll risk it on Kavanagh if he is still available.
-
So hard to call without truly knowing what GWS' plan is. IMO we'll go best available over filling a need and thinking maybe Adams, Kavanagh, Docherty and in that order. I'd be super keen on Docherty though happy with just about any of the names floating about.
-
I think we should get an inside midfielder! Adams my pick!
-
Adams or Doherty would be a sweet sweet outcome :thumbsup
-
which one of those kids is toughest mentally?
-
Good question.
They all have positives in this respect (that's why we have short listed them).
-
Patton, Coniglio, Tyson, Wingard, Longer and Hoskin-Elliot seemed locked in as six of the top 10. Buntine, Greene, Tomlinson and Sumner I think will be also gone before pick 15. The next 4 before ours then depends on whether GWS reach for a couple of other KPPs leaving a few mids we may be keen on to slip down to pick 15. Docherty seems to be the one we've being linked to although he's not strictly a midfielder; he's more a HBFer. You would draft him to eventually take over Newy's role or to free up Lids to push up the ground. Kavanagh and Grigg are more pure midfielders likely to be still around at our pick.
-
The AFL website thinks Markworth will be gone before our first pick ...
The bio-medicine student had figured in calculations for clubs in the late teens, but latest word has him under strong consideration to be snapped up by the Giants in the first 14 picks

Adams
-
Elton could be the outsider. Big player could fit into a CHF position. Good mobility can take a grab. Seems like a nice kick. Anyone seen him play this season and can offer an opinion.
-
think we'll go Adams - the way they were talking re his "interview skills" & leadership ticks a couple of boxes our recruiters spoke of when they said that these were qualities that were high on their list of priorities when deciding who they'd take...be happy with Kavanagh as well but not sure if they'd be willing to risk it due to injury worries (hopefully doesn't come back and haunt us re Fiola, Tambling etc.......)
-
I want it to be Adams but think he's gone. I voted other (McKenzie or Dev Smith)
-
After reading Quayle's l;ist in the Age I think we will take Tom Sheridan at 15.
And Jordan Murdoch at 26 as a medium Half Forward.

From twitter:
owenhlewis Owen Lewis:
"Are the Tiges going to get anyone decent at 15?"
Brett Anderson from Inside Football:
"Yep. Docherty and Ellis the two most likely right now."
owenhlewis Owen Lewis:
"don't know who I want more....probably docherty"
Brett Anderson from Inside Football:
"Definitely Docherty.....gun!"

Heard Emma Quayle said the same thing. We will get Docherty if Lions overlook him. GWS haven't even interviewed him so doubt they take him.
-
Weren't they saying the same thing last year about Heppell? The Lions overlooked him and so did we ;)

Yeah but Gerks they were picks 5&6 and he only slipped to 8. This year we're starting at 15

got it?

I honestly can't see Docherty being available at our pick. Unless Adams, Docherty, Sumner, are available, Kersten by the length of the Flemington straight for me. I wouldn't be disappointed with Kavanagh or Ellis either at 15.
At 26, Ellis, Markworth, Murdoch or Williams.
If we land that exacta we've already had a fine off-season.
-
Funny how you knock McKenzie for having no endurance yet apparently Kersten ticks enough boxes for you to overlook his horrible tank
and he's an inbetweener too
shocking stuff The Cotch ;D

Sorry Gerks, thought it was a nervous tick.
-
Kersten ticks all the boxes but his tank yes.
McKenzie on the other hand.....
Because my opinion differs to you, it's shocking? I've told you why I don't rate McKenzie.

Adams / Docherty / Sumner would be fantastic at pick 15 and I would be extremely pleased with any of the 3. My opinion differs to you on Kersten / McKenzie though, I don't rate Kersten but will admit I have not seen enough of him.
At 26 to get Markworth is robbery (I don't think he will be available), Todd Elton for mine at 26. My preference for the 2 picks are:
Pick 15 - Sam Docherty
Pick 26 - Todd Elton
I think there are plenty of good kids available between pick 15 - 26 so we should get 2 quality players here. Interesting for mine with what road we take with pick 55, but not fussed if we get the first 2 picks right.
-

Apology accepted. However, I reported your post to teach you a lesson. It really is for your own good.

Usually I let you have your say but not this time. You've told me nothing but LIES!!!!!!!!!!!

Also gerks, you say Kersten is an 'in-betweener'.
What would you call Fevola, Jack Darling? Same height.
What did you call Jack Riewoldt when he was first drafted?
So much is made about a few 3cm's.
Kersten is a footballer, give me that every day of the week.
By the way, this discussion is all academic, I'm still trying to figure out how Kersten will last to 15.
For what it's worth, I doubt Docherty, will be available at our pick. If he is, agree, we should draft him. If not, and assuming Sumner, Adams and co are also taken before us, well then we should draft on best available, and I have no doubt we will do that. The difference between taking an Ellis at 15, or taking someone similar at 26 is not much. The midfielders in this draft are all pretty similar from 15 to 40 unless there's a slider.
If we have Kersten at 15, we clearly have the 2nd best key forward in the draft staring us in the face. Let me tell you a little bit about Shane after having watched him quite a bit for the last two years.
First of all, he's the best mark in the draft, period. Even better than Patton. He reads the game so well. Already remind you of anyone? He tested top 10 in the clean hands test at the Comine, confirming his ability below his knee for a big guy. He suffered an elbow injury this season, so he missed the National Champs and a lot of the Colts season.
He came back and kicked 18 goals in the last 3 home and away matches. He then kicked 5 in the Grand Final and this is all coming from a very low fitness base. As an under age player in last years National Champs, he also kicked 15 goals. He just missed out being selected to GWS as a 17 year old.
So Kersten has a reason why he didn't test well at the Combine for endurance, he was injured all season.
Yes I do rate Kersten, and if he's available at our pick, I hope we pick him.
People say, 'we don't need another key forward', yeah, I bet you're the first people to complain if god forbid anything ever happened to Jack and Ty that we have no depth.
I've also heard, 'by drafting Kersten, what does that say to Griffiths?'.
Nothing.
Hopefully Griff makes it. Then Ty can play in the ruck. Wow, depth, scary thing isn't it?
-
Kiss me you fool :-*
-
Whoever it is we draft, Jack Riewoldt will nickname him "crumpet" lol
Jack Riewoldt on twitter:
"Just took our camp shirts to be nicknamed, whoever our new recruit is, will be called crumpet! #kidwillbecalledcrumpet #whowillitbe #crumpet"
-
When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful,
a miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical.
And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily,
oh joyfully, oh playfully watching me.
But then they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible,
logical, oh responsible, practical.
And then they showed me a world where I could be so dependable,
oh clinical, oh intellectual, cynical.
-
Just wondering TBR.
do faces come out of the rain?
does no one remember your name?
-
What will be interesting is if we at all pick any of the mentioned players, how many people here tipped Conca last year?? We may have another smokey in line???
Who knows really.
