Title: Gary Ablett wants out of the Gold Coast
Post by: one-eyed on April 06, 2017, 09:54:22 PM
Ablett told the Footy Show that he wanted out last year due to personal/family reasons but the Suns held him to his contract. He then added that the same personal/family reasons still exist and he'll sit down with Gold Coast at the end of this season. When he was asked if he'll retire if the Suns try to hold him to his contract again, Gary didn't rule it out and just reiterated that he'll sit down the Suns at the end of the year.

Poor form by GCS.

Look at the way the Storm and Cronk have organised his departure. Something very respectful and sportingly romantic about it. Such a shame a club can't accept a player has something bigger in his life than football and try to facilitate that in a way that benefits both parties.

At least Geelong seems to let some players go in those circumstances...

Problem for Junior is he is seen as a money grabbing mercenary, everything he does always appears about how many dollars he can get

Leaves Geelong for money

He signed a 3 year contract extension a before season 2016 again holds out for a million a season. Has never once offered to take a payout to help GC keep any of their gun youngsters.

Asks to be trade at the end of 2016

Does last night exclusive interview for a fee.

Now he is implying, you dont trade me I'll quit. Fine quit, pretty sure he's not going to be left destitute

Yes Gold Coast is a basket case but Junior doesn't do himself any favours

Would any club in contention want him now for the draft price GC would want and $$$ Gary Jnr would demand? He'll be 33 (?) next year with a dodgy shoulder whose playing like a mere mortal since doing the injury.
