Just had a call from Bully in Qld - he's caused a riot at the local pub by wanting to watch the AFL lol

Err, what happened in the last 5 minutes - Eagles have so much of the ball they should be miles in front really.
Good players, Tuck, Johnston, Hyde, Rainsey, Gas done a couple of things.
We really are lucky they have stuffed around with it, but at the same time we've done some nice things as well.
They were man on man for most of tht half and just slackened off a bit towards the end.
A good effort so far - i don't know how much we can expect out of this.
Tucky cleaned up Roachy - in the jaw - i think he is okay. Other than that, injury wise we're good.
Rainsey going well from previous weeks - not a great deal of it, but he is taking them on dodging and weaving and running down the ground, delivering effectively. I'm so proud lol

Interesting looking at the AFL stats, the eagles have the top 5 in uncontested possesions, so to stay in it we will need to MAN UP in the second half by the sounds (stats) of it. :cheers

They came out after half time and just looked tired. Richo drops a sitter the only time we virtually go forward - what chance do you have when that happens.
Very frustrating when they were so competitive in the first half.
If they give a good show this quarter and don't let the Eagles kick away, is about as good as it will ever get. If not, we're looking at another round one debacle.

Well at least they didn't roll over and die. We all know where we are at and it can turn around and improve, but we are a few years off any type of consistency.

Ch 10 just showed Tivs making a howler in the backline dropping a simple handball from Rainesy then getting tackled and coughing it up when we were a goal in front which cost us a goal and began the Eagles run.
Gas' hammy looks very low on the upper leg almost on the tendon behind the knee. Doesn't sound good.

And yet Gas seemed to be walking ok around the boundary as he was making his way back to the rooms.
Tivs cough up was expensive. And how many times did we kick to an Eagles player. Patty's handball instead of kicking a goal in the fourth quarter :banghead Why don't we seem to man-up? Wouldn't it take off some of the pressure on the backline a bit?

I know this is kinda a schit attitude but really is this a bad thing, get a kid in there and start training em up now. Gasper is finished. Great servant of the club that he has been but it's over.

For anyone who didn’t get to see the game, consider yourself lucky. Fairly lack lustre game. Never reached any great standard, although WC added any class there was in the game.
WC started very slowly, but once they got some run going in their game we were left lagging. They pretty much won in a canter, and Judd and Cousins didn’t really get into the game, while Cox took until the second half to get going.
We didn’t get blown out of the water, but it was nowhere near last week’s effort.
In our best would be Tuck, Johnson, J. Bowden, Richo with 4 goals.
Hyde, Pettifer, Kellaway and Tivendale were serviceable.
Hartigan and Raines tried hard, but not much after that.
Browny just couldn’t get into the game and wouldn’t have had many possessions. Kicked 1 goal.
Cogs did go off in the last quarter, but came back late in the game. Got a couple of centre clearances, which resulted in a couple of goals. Apart from that, didn’t have much impact and was nowhere near as good as last week.
I think Simmonds and Hall were changing on Dean Cox, with Simmonds taking the centre bounce and Hall doing the around the ground work. Simmonds didn't have the most effective game, while Hall was ok.
Humm’s decision making in the first half was a tad infuriating, but did some ok things in the second half.
Costly skill errors and turnovers throughout just eroded any confidence the team may have had.
Really disappointing that with only 7 seconds in the game to go we let WC get a goal.
Just to top the night off, Tim Gossage was one of the commentators. Of all the commentators in the universe ... :banghead
Whoever that camera man to the right of the screen was, he desperately needs some lessons in how to follow the game. :banghead
As for the producer, get a feel for the game or find another occupation. :banghead Every time you we get a game over there, it's the same old stuff. Concentrate on the game. :banghead

Richmond was unable to capitalise on an excellent first-half in going down by 46 points to West Coast at Subiaco Oval on Saturday night - 20.16 (136) to 14.6 (90).
Trailing by just 13 points at the main break, the Tigers conceded eight goals to three in the third quarter and it was here that West Coast set up its win.
To add salt to the wound, Thomas Roach copped a heavy knock in the first-half and was sent to hospital for scans on a suspected broken jaw.
Shane Tuck was the Tigers' highest ball-winner with 28 disposals, while Patrick Bowden (20 touches), Kane Johnson (18) and Joel Bowden (29) also were prominent.
Matthew Richardson finished with four goals in a heartening performance, but lacked support when it counted and enjoyed a good duel with Darren Glass before the Eagles defender limped off with a hamstring injury midway through the final term.
Earlier in the day, Hawthorn showed upsets were not only possible, but could be done comprehensively when they belted the highly-fancied Geelong by 52-points at Skilled Stadium, but after half-time the Tigers never looked likely to cause a similar boilover.
David Wirrpanda - playing his 150th match for the Eagles in a career that began more than a decade ago - was strong in defence, while Tyson Stenglein had the better of Nathan Brown.
Chad Fletcher (34 possessions), Rowan Jones (27), Mark Nicoski (26), and Quinten Lynch (23) were prolific ball winners, while Andrew Embley and Ashley Sampi provided strong targets up forward and finished with three goals each.
After showing plenty of grit and determination in their 11-point loss to the Saints last week, the Tigers entered the match fired-up, and opened their goal account after just 80 seconds through spearhead Richardson.
The Eagles seemed surprised at the ferocious pace of the game and the Tigers took full advantage, entering the first break with a slender five-point lead, with Richardson booting two goals for the term.
The Tigers began the second with two of the opening three goals, but as the quarter wore on the Eagles' midfield began to assert their dominance, though to little immediate effect as West Coast posted four-straight behinds.
It was left to Chris Judd to break the shackles, swooping on a loose ball inside 50 and kicking truly to tie up the scores 18 minutes into the second period.
The goal seemed to lift the Eagles, as they slammed on another two to go into the main break with a 13-point lead.
The Eagles broke the game wide open in the third term, slamming on eight goals to Richmond's three to enter the final term with a 44-point lead.
From their 15 inside 50's for the term, the Eagles recorded 12 scoring shots.
Ashley Sampi was a livewire in the forward line and kicked three for the term, as the Eagles midfield began to break free and run their opponents into the ground.
Richardson, Shane Tuck and Brown recorded majors but were unable to create enough pressure in their forward line.
A goal to Cox early in the final quarter put the result beyond doubt, with the term becoming a scrap as both sides made simple skill errors.
The Tigers travel to the Gabba to take on the wounded Lions next week.

I know where you're coming from CUB but in 8 days we've lost 3 key defenders including the two most likely young ones who would have replace Gas had they not themselves been seriously injured last week :(.

- McGuane who is playing in the Coburg reserves tomorrow and hasn't played a senior game.
I guess we know next week Joel is capable of playing on big Jonathan Brown but he did have help from Mark Graham last year.

Planned to head to the local pub last night with my mate to watch the game
Asked a girl working at the bar on thursday if they show fox footy and she said yes.
Got there at 7.30 to find out that they dont have the footy channel. We made our way down to Mooloolaba wharf to watch it at the pub. When we get in they had Sydney/Carlton on and Union and League also. We got some drinks and asked the girl at the bar if there was any chance of getting Richmond on the TV.
She asked the manager who said he would change it when he got a chance.
By the time they put it on the game was 5 min into the second qtr. They turned off the league match (Storm v Penrith) for the Tigers. The crowd at the pub went crazy ;D ;D ;D yelling and screaming to turn it back to the league.
Well i got 10 minutes of the second qtr before the TV was put back onto the leauge. So there was about 5-6 people watching and barracking for Penrith. To my delight the Storm turned it on and gave Penrith a hiding. I was cheering every try as though big Richo had slotted one home!!!!!
Finally the league finished and i got to watch the second half of the footy. It was certainly a funny night and in the end i suppose i had some sort of a victory in getting the second half on.
Just a shame that the Tigers didnt get up.
Cant wait to watch the game live again next week up here in Brisbane before i return to Melbourne for our first game back at the G.

Watched the game and agree with most that it wasn't a great standard (not helped by the biased commentary BTW). AFter getting over the frustration of watching us turn the ball over and calming down a bit I worked it that it wasn't all bad. AT least you could actually see the type of game they were trying to play and at times they played it very well...running to space and spotting up running players. Unfortunatley our skills are still not up to it and it was very costly when we missed a target, usually resulting in a WC goal.
The decision making was actually pretty good, it was only the execution that let us down...most of the turnovers were because we missed the target, not because we made the wrong decision. This is a big change from previous years where both the decision making and skills were crap. The coaching staff can work on the skills and they will get better.
Interesting to hear Wirrapanda actually talk about the Tiges being ok...in fact in his post match interview he mainly only spoke about the Tiges and how the supporters should stick with them because they'll become a good side.
Forward line is working ok and a lot less predictable...just need to get the ball in there a lot more and lot quicker. Richo actually provided a dummy lead and then protected the player going for the ball on a number of occasions..very impressive.
Agree with MT though, the backline is now officially stuffed and we need to find another 4 or so speedy midfielders pronto. At the rate we're getting injuries we'll be lucky to field a team in 4 weeks.
Just remember folks this year is supposed to be a bumper draft...

I hate Subiaco oval - it's too big and it's bloody hard to see up the other end of the ground. But having said that....
I thought Tuck was our best player by the length on the said huge Subiaco oval.
I reckon young Andy Raines will learn alot from playing on Sampi. I was very ticked off that after Sampi scored one his goals in the 3rd (the one where he roved the pack and kicked it from 5 metres out) that not one of the senior guys (read the 2 DVC in Gaspar and Bowden) didn't go up to the kid and say something to him - a distinct lack of leadership IMV. Critcise Richo as much as you like but he since he's been in the leadership group he is always quick to go up to the young blokes and offer them some encouragemet

Thought Johnson was great - showed excellent leadership, gave alot of voice out there and he gave a certain player a good old spray in the 3rd for not doing the basics - did that show up on the telly ;D
I got very frustrated with Joel in the 3rd when he let his opponent on 3 occassions get a early break on the lead - costs us goals. :banghead
I thought Pettifer let himself down a few times by leading in the direct path of Richo - shouild lead in the opposite direction to creater another option
Which brings me to Jeremy Humm.........
I received a SMS at half time from one of our esteemed OER posters who posed the question "Is Humm still playing for the Eagles?"
I had to ask myself the same question - was extremely disappointed with his game. Granted I will admit I wasn't happy with the decision to promote him let alone give him game but at the moment at least I can say I feel vindicated ;D . Forget the decision making errors - he was on Fletcher in the 2nd and showed him little regard, played him loose, didn't chase him let alone go after him when he had the ball - a very ordinary game indeed.
And just on Cogs (I think MT asked is he right?) - I actually thought he wasn't playing because I barely remember seeing him :-\
At the after match function he said that he was fine and that "the body is the best it's ever been" :gobdrop - gotta say he doesn't look fine to me.

Skill errors and bad decision making again cost the Tigers dearly as they made the long trip west to take on the Eagles at Subiaco Oval on Easter Saturday. OER made the trip too.

It was a warm Perth that greeted the Tigers for their round 3 clash with the Eagles. The Tigers were chasing their 1st win of 2006 while the Eagles were looking to continue their winning ways.
At a pre-match function Tiger Assistant Coach David King mentioned that the last 3 times the Tigers had played the Eagles certain small Eagle forward (some bloke called Matera) had been the difference between the 2 teams in the last 3 games and with that in mind Kingy was of the belief that the Tigers were a “real show” this time.
There were no changes to either side, with former Eagle Jeremy Humm making is debut for the Tigers.
Key match-ups: Andrew Raines on Ashley Sampi, Stenglein on Nathan Brown, Eagle Glass took Richo, Johnson on Judd, Coughlan on Cousins and Ray Hall started at CHF on Hunter. Troy Simmonds also had a massive job on the competitions form player in Dean Cox.
The Tigers got off to a fast start scoring the first 2 goals of the game. What was clear from the outset was the Tigers were going to run and carry the ball and play on at all costs. Early on the first this worked and as a result it was the Eagles that were making errors especially by foot. As the first quarter progressed the Eagles settled and at the first break the Tigers led by 5 points.
The Tigers started the 2nd quarter well with more quick movement through the mid-filed while the Eagles continued to struggle to hit targets. Another pleasing aspect was the Tiger tackling which seemed to be following on from the 60 tackles they had the week before against the Saints. The Tigers scored the first goal of the quarter to stretch their lead to 10 points the Eagles replied to cut the margin back to 4 points before Tambling scored another to give the Tigers back their 10 point buffer. It was just after this the game turned for the Tigers. Firstly, the Tigers worked incredibly hard in a 5-7 minute period for no reward. They actually had the ball in the forward 50 in this time and could not score.
Then a couple of turnovers, the most notable being the Raines handball that had Tivendale turn to his blind side and cough up the ball. These turnovers resulted in Eagles goals that gave them the lead. The highlight of the first half had to be the Deledio/Judd sprint in the first quarter which this time round Lids just won.
The third quarter was full of skill errors and bad decisions for the Tigers but to their credit they kept fighting and somehow managed to get within 15 points half way through the third quarter with goals to Tuck and Brown. But in the space of 15 minutes the Eagles blew the game open with Sampi causing the most damage kicking 3 goals in 12 minutes (bad luck for Raines because until this point he’d beaten Sampi). It was during this period that the poor skills took their toll on the Tigers with short 15 metre kicks missing targets and 5 metre handballs landing at team mates shoelaces – so frustrating
By the end of the third the game was all but over with the Weagles holding a commanding 44 point lead.
The Tigers fought out the final quarter kicking 5 goals. But in the end it was again a very disappointing night for Richmond.
The Tiges wretched run with injury continued with Tommy Roach breaking his jaw and DVC Gaspar suffering a hamstring injury late in the game. Best for the Tigers from high up in the Subi stands were Tuck, Johnson, Richardson, Raines, Gaspar (until injured) and Tivendale. A few players probably had games they’d want to forget because they seemed to forget the basics, running, tackling and especially going in to help your team mate, as I said extremely disappointing.

It was just after this the game turned for the Tigers. Firstly, the Tigers worked incredibly hard in a 5-7 minute period for no reward. They actually had the ball in the forward 50 in this time and could not score.
Then a couple of turnovers, the most notable being the Raines handball that had Tivendale turn to his blind side and cough up the ball. These turnovers resulted in Eagles goals that gave them the lead.
It's that sort of thing that kills us. The whole team works its guts out for a crucial period of the game and if we had snagged a goal the game could have broken open our way but instead we cough a soft goal and the game turns the other way :scream. The same thing happened last year against the Roos in the third quarter with Tivs and Knobel turnovers.

The fact that our KIDS are plying the game with wild abandon in regards to their own safety is a great sign.
This to me shows they are nothing like the Cowards that have faked careers at Punt road for the last ? years.

Moi has a different opinion to mine of tamblings game. Whilst not a great game after seeing it on video again- its fair to say he got the footy more often than in the past, i noted he had about 15 possessions, i felt that alot of his disposal was fine and he started to use his speed better. For mine, they should give the kid a copy of this games highlights- tell him for the rest of the season this is the minimum standard required...if we can get an average 15 stats a game for now he'll be well on the way...when he starts to get more confident, 15 stats will become 20 and then hopefully 25. With his speed and disposal skills...he'll be a ripping player. I have plenty of faith in this kid...and thats from someone whose known to be a pessimist when it comes to our club lol.
