Title: Chasing Steven Motlop
Post by: 🏅Dooks on May 28, 2015, 10:49:11 AM
Apparently we are.

Thoughts? Would he be a good fit?

Yes.  :clapping

Stick him in the forward 50 & tell him to swallow anything the talls can't hold.

Listening to KB on SEN, Benny Gale was interviewed this morning & dropped the name very openly in the interview.  KB is talking it up, as he does.  Benny is also very confident about keeping Alex Rance.
Will Motlop be a good fit?  There's only one way to find out - do it!  He certainly is the player type we badly need!

Yep, would go after him, just turned 24, could be very handy for us. Trade Morris, Batch and a bunch of grapes.

Apparently he has an undetected floating bone in his knee - once Geelong find that out, we can bring him over with the Trengrove money to get Tigerittis.

The type of footballer we need. A quick small forward/mid with plenty of tricks.

Motlop on the footy show tonight denied the reports that contract talks had broken down although he wouldn't say he would be at Geelong next year. He said they're waiting to sign a couple of other players and to see what's left over (money wise).

we haven't got a small forward with any tricks , AT ALL , that's what worries me with donut, whats his strength, to be able to inflict  damage gotta have a bag of tricks

Post by: tony_montana on May 29, 2015, 05:58:33 PM
Dimma doesn't rate tricks? Not being negative, but legit observation, he prefers a defensive shutdown king/morris type and resting mids like Martin over a nippy goalsneak like garlett/betts

Possibly , that started with Morton. I reckon Garletts Charlie sheen style wrap sheet was what scared most suitors though ,, ,ironic that he was actually acquitted of those affray charges in the end,,duh

For Geelong sure.

If they're keen on it then it means we're getting cheated.

I'd be looking at another player - Murdoch?

Mentioned this deal to a good mate who is a massive Geelong fan. He said Geelong would be committing daylight robbery. He reckons Motlop is probably the most frustrating player on their list and he'd be perfectly happy for him to leave at season's end and get a compensation pick in return. Makes horrendous errors.

He's not a traditional goal sneak either more a high half forward/ wingman. Needs space to operate in.

Lids is a great player would be sad to see him go but I reckon his injury troubles are continually going to get worse. Will still get a few good years from him but everyone here seems to think we are a basket case anyway so why would we need him for a couple of years when you could get a decent player in Motlop plus a first rounder?

maybe cause i dont have any trust in Hackson finding us any talent in the draft and i dont think Motlop is worth any more than a second rounder at best.

Package griggster and FJ up and they can have them both in exchange for Stephen Wells

Richmond great says Tigers should 'throw kitchen sink' at Geelong's Steven Motlop

  Jake Bourke
     3aw
    July 29, 2015 - 7:24PM

Richmond should "throw the kitchen sink" at Geelong livewire Steven Motlop, says club legend Matthew Richardson.

Motlop's contract with the Cats is up at the end of the season and the 24-year-old has reportedly attracted the interest of several clubs looking to bolster their midfield.

North Melbourne has been touted as a potential suitor, but Richardson told 3AW the Tigers should do whatever it took to land the goalkicking speedster.

"Richmond should throw the kitchen sink at him," Richardson said on Sports Today.

"They are desperate for a small forward of that quality.

"It's something they haven't got and they desperately need it, if they want to go that next step."

But Gerard Healy said another club might be able to fix Richmond's needs on that front and at a much cheaper price.

I agree we should go for him, not necessarily throw the sink at him, but would he be more of a running forward flank type than a crumbling forward which the article suggests?

Ch 7 news last night said Richmond were the frontrunners with North making recent contact with Motlop. Brad Scott denied any contact while Chris Scott said they don't overpay Geelong players and that's been the policy for even their stars.

Australian football is the sport of choice for Indigenous Australians. The Indigenous population makes up two and a half percent of the total Australian population; from this, 90,000 participants are involved with AFL programs around the country. Indigenous Players make up 9% of our AFL list.

I would've thought that the fact that we house & facilitate the Korin Gamadji Institute in the ME Bank Centre at Punt Road Oval would of helped us unearth the next indigenous star that we could hide as a rookie until ready to unleash on the competition.
