In 2012, which teams will significantly slide down the ladder, and which teams will significantly gain positions up the ladder, compared to their 2011 finish?
I'll say:-
Sliders
Essendon
Stkilda
North
Melbs
Improvers
Freo
Richmond
GC
Adelaide
-
Agree
although i think the Bummers will still be in the 8.
Blues top 4 if not higher :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Sliders
Eagles - bottom end of the 8
Saints
North
Brisbane - will be saved from the Spoon by GWS ;D
Improvers
Richmond
Adelaide
Dogs - change of coach factor will have them in the 8
-
Freo to take the saints spot would be ironic
-
Sliders
Gerks, Owl, Dookie, Davey
Improver
WA Tiger
-
Sliders
Saints - new coach and they're still in turmoil
Freo - negative football for 12 months will see them drop away for a season
Bombers - Honeymoon is over
Geelong - to many players have left and cant see them winning it next year, so a slider
Improvers
Richmond - of course :gotigers
Hawks - may go all the way
Carlton - unfortunately i think they will go top 4
-

Ladder-wise I don't see us moving up greatly yet. List is still too young and inexperienced and we still lack the necessary depth.

l got 1k that the Skunks slide to the poo pit & the Tigers will finish higher than them :pray

i reckon there is a fair chance the wheels could fall of for colonwoood. depending on odds, that could be a good bet TM. i was considering backing them to miss the finals myself

Not a bad call in principle Big Al, for mine they will slide but perhaps not as far as 9th.
If we are $2 or greater to make the 8 I'll be dialing in a few hunjees :cheers
-
sportingbet have us at 3.25 to make the 8
they have the skunks at 6.50 to miss the 8. Weak as pee I'll be looking for a better bet than that.

What's the rationale for suggesting COllingwood will slide?
They have a young list, good depth, have lost next to nothing and have the hunger that comes from a losing GF.
The only question mark I can see if their new coaching set up.
I would say Geelong are a much greater chance to slide.
-
For me the main rationale comes from what effect the whole saga with Malhouse/Buckley combined with loosing the grand final will have on the club.
It's as much a gut feeling as anything i suppose, but that could be the curry and beer from last night though.
For me to outlay money on it I want long shot odds, as in reality that's what it is, but to me it's not beyond the realms of possibility.
-
I would leave the Richmond to finish higher than Collingwood bet for another year. Sadly I think the mongrels will be up there again in 2012 :chuck while we still have a young and inexperienced core group.

This is clearly the worst post in Internet history, guy. Collingwood have plenty of question marks.
And Dookie says get on Richmond for the top 8. :gotigers

If Buckley or Eddie had any sort of dignity and loved Collingwood knowing how Malthouse had the team going he would have stepped aside and let Mick continue until he wanted to, or Eddie would have seen to it. This saga to a large degree has cost Collingwood the flag in 2011 and Eddie stubborness to see this out will be detrimental to the Skunks. You can't have your cake and eat it too.
Add the fact that Watters and Neeld have moved on and Buckley has got blokes with little or no experience at his side with Eade as director of coaching making sure he is doing it all right and its a nice little molotov cocktail there.
Pendlebury signing a one year deal and the rumours on whether he'll join his bro at GWS will add another bad feel to the club this year and with Eddie putting up smokescreens to tell GWS he will make their life hell just adds to the behind the scenes funs at the Nexus Centre which again goes back to the players responding to Mick and what they think of Nayfan.
Yeah Geelong may slide a few rungs too I agree but the Pies may be bigger sliders than some may want to believe or admit at this point in time.

yeah, good point tucker
-
I guess it comes back to how highly you rate coaching as a factor in a teams success.
Being inexperienced didn't seem to hurt Chris Scott.
-
yeah, true.
were there many coaching staff changes made at geelong when he started?
-
Looking at their website Caracella and Lappin seem to have been there throughout.

Fremantle at 4.50 is paying nicely if you believe they will bounce back in a big way.
