Im feeling quite uneasy at the moment. It's been a strange year. Since the halfway mark it has always looked like our premiership to lose. For a long suffering Richmond supporter this is unfamiliar, peculiar and uncharted territory.
Now it's sudden death and this marvelous season that has yielded 19 wins is on the line.
Let's face it... Collingwood are Richmond mark 2. They have successfully copied us and have been playing with an impressive spirit all season. They seem to have destiny on their side and it worries the pants off me.
It was reassuring to see us bully Hawthorn in the qualifying final and prove we had an extra gear to go to.
Hopefully we can start well and not give them a snif.
How are my fellow Oerites coping with Preliminary final week??
-
I am feeling nervous and the pressure is starting to ramp up.
But feeling like this in September sure as hell beats feeling like this after round 5.
-
Excited and nervous not because of any fear of the opponent but because it’s a preliminary final. The pre finals bye and week off for winning the qualifying final while good for the players is absolutely brutal for me.
-
I expect that we will deal with Collingwood quiet easily. Not worried at all to be honest. Aren’t worried in the slightest.
Our backline is secure, very consistent and rock solid. Led by 5 time all Australian Alex Rance, i Have a lot of faith in them to withstand anything Collingwood can come with. Just think about Grimes, Vlaustin, Astbury and Houli slicing through the opposition forwards creating another forward thrust and Short chiming in with some goals for icing on the cake.
Our forwards are led by the reigning Coleman medalist and one of the smartest footballers in the game not only kicking the most goals this season but also heavily involved with assisting the mosquito fleet to provide the pressure, speed and x-factor that has got us where we are today revolutionising how to play modern football they have become trend setters. Caddy built for the cut and thrust of finals football and Rioli sending shivers into the hearts of opposition supporters every time he gets near the ball to do what all Rioli’s just do in finals providing scintillating moments that will send us into raptures.
And just when your thinking how potent Collingwoods midfield is let me remind us that Our midfield is blessed with not just one, but two Brownlow medalists, three all Australians and the current reigning Norm Smith Medalist.
I don’t think about what if Collingwood win blah blah.
We are playing at OUR home ground! We are hungry. We are not easy beats. We hunt the opposition. We go in for the kill.
I don’t think Collingwood have much hope really.
Richmond by 6 goals.

I'm still on holidays so I really don't have a care in the world ;D
As for Friday night, just intend to sit back and enjoy this ride we've been on for the last 12+ months.... want to win but won't be throw the "toys out of the cot" if we don't :thumbsup

Opportunities to win a premiership do not come around that often
Opportunities to win a premiership off the back of a dominate season come around even less
Opportunities to build a "dynasty" are rare
We are s strong team, with emphasis on team. It is up to us to play to our full ability. Do this and we are hard to beat and it would take an opposition to play the best they have ever had to overcome us.
I am enjoying this and confident we are in the right head space.
Go Tiges
-
Half the time I'm just embracing and enjoying it all, reminding myself that it'll only be a few times in my life where this happens for us.
The other half I'm a cat on hot bricks. Can't stop thinking about it.
Hope it never ends :gotigers
-
I am nervous as poo. I do not want the Tigers to get rolled by the Pies and have McGuire's smug face infiltrating all media outlets. Really hoping for back to back. A part of me is supremely confident because on paper the CFC outfit just isn't that great but the rational side of me is jittery as poo as anything can happen on the day
-
I am quite nervous but not because we may lose. I just don't want it to be Collingwood who does it.

Same here. It's either going to be either extra painful if we lose having to watch Collingwood in the GF :chuck or extra sweet going for back-to-back after knocking out the Pies :pray.

Harden up, ladies.

This is the type of banter that makes OER such a great site.

If we stick to our systems and game plan and bring our A grade pressure and tackling snd gut running we win this game simple as that :gotigers.

Agree. I’m tipping a 6 goals win as a minimum.
-
It's a funny feeling, i'm a little nervous, but kind of confident (still not used to this feeling).
Not an over-confidence though, i'm not even thinking about who we might play in the Grand Final, I am just worried about this week.
-
If I had a choice of who to play in a prelim at the start of the finals
I would if chosen hawthorn or Collingwood
We are the better team gunna take a 10% drop off from us and an extra 10%
From those ctetins to cause an upset, possible but doubt it
Let’s smash this dirt
-
Nervous only because of how emotionally invested I am.
Do I think we will win? Yes, I honestly do.
In fact, we've won every game I've been to all year...which is extraordinary!
All the laughable chatter about how flat we looked in the last month or two haha. I knew we were just cruising along. Hawks only handled the pressure for 45min in the QF, after that they got belted for 45min and then it was all over. Hopefully the same happens with the Pies this Friday...
-
Been alot of focus on pies this week players comments and coaches etc alot of hype sort of to over confident .We just been focused and let our footy do the talking.
-
I feel sick in my stomach. Such a different feeling to last year. Nervous as hell.
-
I reckon we are ready to go WHACK!!
Last season was unexpected in winning the big dance.
This year a free hit and it's time sit those pies on their proverbials.
Start of week I was thinking it might not be our year, now I wanna smack them hard.
-
Im ok now I’ve got a ticket...
If we play well, we win.
Tag Sidebottom FFS!
-
I feel awesome. We are a real chance to be in another Granny so ill take that and just enjoy the ride whatever happens...or it will shorten my life too much.
-
Even though this week has felt torturous with the weight of expectation - I guess we should all feel greatful that we are in a position to enter a preliminary final as favorites.
Certainly beats finishing 5th and then losing to 9th in an Elimination final.

Just got home from the dentist
I feel crap :'(

You know you’re not a Pies supporter when...
-
Nerves have kicked in
Anticipation is building....
I really hope we go out like I think we will and win the game
-
Nervous as hell now
-
Keep telling myself that I am not going to worry if they jump us. I'm not going to worry. I'm not going to worry.
-
Perhaps this thread is still relevant.
Had to put on big smiles and work with people today, "You guys were too good" and all that jazz.
Inside I think I've never felt worst about a loss - hard to compare with the Carlton EF loss but I think this might take the cake.
Genuinely feel like my high school GF dumped me all over again.
-
nothing will compare to that elimination final or the 2 after. This was the 5th worst loss i have ever experienced.
Hunt after the siren is the 4th
mate when its all said and done we won a flag 12 months ago, and im still happy about that. The only thing that annoys me as we sit here right now is that pies will most likely win now. In the event Eagles do then the loss will feel a whole lot better.
-
Yeah nah Round 6, 2007 still the reigning champ...that one not only had me seriously wondering if we were going to fold but welcoming the prospect.... :shh
-
cats game? I would have chosen that but i was not there live, instead watched it from my hotel in tassy.
Seriously though splitting hairs on 5 of em
-
2015 EF. Walking out after our third finals exit in a row with the kangaroos fans singing “na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye” was the absolute worst.
-
Friday nights game for me.
Still feel sick in the stomach and truely sad in my heart that we let this one slip. It was ours to lose and we just didn’t show up.
Footy changed me last year after feeling what it was like to win a GF.
Those other games you guys are talking about were just a continuation of the last 30 odd years of disappointment for me. I really didn’t know what it was like to have it so it was easier than now to not have it.
I had the whole bloody week planned out this week with dinner with mates to discuss our GF day/night schedule, to the parade on the Friday and to the Sunday at Punt Road with the kids and a hangover.
-
positives to ease the pain:-
still reigning premier for 6 more days.
bumped up 2 spaces in the draft
you all probably get to see more of my wisdom this off season
Oxy is back
