In the first contest of the game after the centre bounce, Deledio was reported for a high bump on Blues' big man Simon White, who had his head over the ball.
The Tigers midfielder appeared to collect White on the head and was immediately reported by the field umpire.

Thoughts?
-
Week.
-
If the other bloke didn't suffer any injury Deledio should get off the charge.
-
Rubbed out and deserves it imo.
Stupid.
Weak or not he got him on the scone. Goner.
-
you cant suspend a bloke for hip and shoulder seriously if they suspend him the game is stuffed.
-
should be a fine at best, not alot of force in that at all.
-
Looked like Lids got White more in the shoulder from the side in slow motion. He'll still probably get a week given it's round 1 and the MRP will want to set a standard that they'll inconsistently apply for the rest of the season.
-
Inconsistent is the right word. I reckon its a random dice roll if he will get a week or they give him brownlow points instead.
-
will get 2 weeks because the system is soft and sucks. i hope the club encourages our players to bump regardless of the tribunal.
thought lids was the one who got us going in the second q. some one had to stand up and it was him.
-
Nothing in it, will see how the new system fairs... :whistle
-
White puts his head down at the last moment, Lids was already committed to the contest. Has been and always will be a ball player. If anything at all, no more than 1 because of the system
-
Should have taken his head off, make a report worth while.
-
the game is soft
-
Stupid but stuff it.
Good.
Hit em hard whenever u get aa chance.
So u get suspended......
-
Should have taken his head off, make a report worth while.
:clapping :clappingthe game is soft
agree.
-
Minimal force , should get a reprimand :shh

Agree.. but make sure they don't get back up. Especially if its a cheat or an ex filth cheat, nice work by McIntosh. ;D
-
Looks worse than what it ended up being but don't have faith in the system (new or old) that he will get off.
-
There is one angle that looks worse than the other 3, where he catches him high. Under the current interpretations he'll get 2-3.
-
Could be good to have an enforced rest for his Achilles/calf.
Will come back like a new recruit.
:lol
-
Reckon he is trouble 1-2 weeks
-
the games going soft. he hardly touched him.
-
the games going soft. he hardly touched him.
That's not the point really, the rule is very clear now you make head high contact when you bump and you are in strife. It's been that way a few years now so he's in trouble
-
stuff the rule. It's Gay as stuff.
If u don't get stretchered off and mis the game, u shouldn't be reported.
-

I agree, Lids was already bracing for the hip and shoulder before white put his head down at the last moment.
-
Will be interesting to see what he gets with the new setup they have. Could be anything from 0 - 3 weeks.
-
the games going soft. he hardly touched him.
Agree but what can ya do :-\
-
What bump, that was nothing. Should be a reprimand but because he plays for Richmond will get 3 weeks. Girls era of football ;D
-
Who knows what will happen?
Didn't look good TBH!
-
Ch 7 news last night reckoned Lids will get 2 weeks - reduced to one with an early plea. Apparently, that's the lowest penalty if the MRP sees the contact as collecting an opponent's head.
-
may as well put a red hankerchief in thier shorts :banghead
-

Yep if they deem it "medium contact impact" then that's the lowest penalty
If they grade it higher he will get more
That's why I reckon he will go, medium impact, not going for the ball per se, chose to bump = goneskis
-
It was low contact
-
He could do with a rest anyway to get the body 100%.
-
On AFL Game Day Lids was the only one they said was in trouble, even though the Suns & Pies ones were worse!!! The Collingwood one was very similar to Lids - go figure!

They hate us
-
Got offered one week.
-
whats he sposed to do?
headbutt the guy at speed?

From the AFL WEBSITE.
Brett Deledio, Richmond, has been charged with Engaging in Rough Conduct against Simon White, Carlton, during the first quarter of the Round One match between Richmond and Carlton, played at the MCG on Thursday April 2, 2015.
In summary, he can accept a one-match sanction with an early plea.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Carlton Football Club, it was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as careless conduct with medium impact to the head. The offence was classified as a two-week sanction under the table of penalties. The player has no applicable bad record. An early plea can reduce the penalty to a one-match sanction.
-
Take it too the tribunal. It's soft & it's only worth a reprimand. Fight it Tigers :gotigers
Set a example of The Fighting Tigers
-
Take the 1 and run.
Have the week off to get the body right :cheers
-
Take the 1 and run
Yep, challenge it and we will lose
1 week is a good outcome
-
Could do with a week off anyway and be right for the rest of the year.
-
how is Shaw's and deledio's both classified as medium impact?? Did anyone see Shaw's hit on the Melbourne player? Ridiculous they are graded the same
-
Still soft
-
Ridiculous that Lids, an honest player who was perhaps careless in the heat of the moment gets a worse penalty than those cheating Essendon drug cheats who allegedly took performance enhancing drugs systematically over a period of time
-

shaw should have gotten 6 weeks, that they both gonna cop the same penalty is a disgrace.
-
From twitter
@3AWisfootball:
Brett Deledio (Rich) + Matt Shaw (GCS) have accepted their one-match bans for engaging in rough play.

Not sure that Lids did get worse! Essendon players have been living this for two years.
-
Oh well lets hope Lambert or Knight can come in for Lids. Either can play that role IMO.
-
Yes! Bring in Lambert for the game against the dogs!
-
Steven Johnson gets a $1000 fine for a coward elbow to the back of a defenceless opponent.
With this mongrels history, the MRP has proven its a joke.
He puts more on the bar at Lambys on Saturday nights than that.
Sheeesh!!
-
Lids played well against Carlton. His disposal was very good. Need someone to come in with similar foot skills. Perhaps Knights or Lennon.

If Johnson was playing for Richmond he would have got 6 weeks for that hit in the back. MRP hate Richmond & it clearly shows

Long time reader of the site; great place. Prompted to comment today after laughing my ass off at Buggs comments on a footy feed. "Nick Reiwoldt arrived from no where and I just ran into him?" :lol
Think Bugg needs to rewind the footage, take a look and comment on it again.

Welcome to OER
Now a few bits of advise. Dont listen to _____ and _____. Never post about ________ or say _____ is good/bad.
Just kidding, welcome and enjoy the banter.
Lids coped a week, which will be fine as long as they are consistent. History says they probably won't be though.
-
Lids most likely wouldn't have played this week anyway due to his sore calf. So getting rubbed out for a week won't matter.
