No, not much you can read into it, although the figures probably highlight how bad Essendon have been so far this season.

Yeah you're right but the most important information lay within the third and fourth quarters.
We all know that we are winning the last quarters but the for and against in the last two quarters is what shows why we are doing it better than any any club.
Third qrt
Won Lost Draw For Against
7. Richmond 4 3 0 145 123
Fourth qrt
Won Lost Draw For Against
1. Richmond 5 2 0 253 130
This is no coincidence, the group are instructed to conserve energy.
Basically we hold and maintain pressure using more overlap and less running (and of course pre season fitness has a little to do with it ;)). This allows few opposition scores to get through, but then gives us the ability to use reserved energy to massively over run the opponent in the last with plenty of fuel in the tank to spare.
This is brilliant and is so very effective.

Our third quarters have been bog average for a few weeks now. Melbourne, Pies and Freo all got on top of us then. I'm not sure if this is just a slow reaction to opposition coaches obviously trying to change their tactics after half time though.

Another third quarter loss today probably pointing to some coming out sleeping after half time?
