Must win game!
-
8 point game!
-
More like 80. To them.
Tiges will cop a rodgering as they play Geelong back into form.
I Can hear the cats rubbing their hands together already......and who can blame them.
-
Really want to see Corey Ellis play
-
Corey Ellis doesn't have the conditioning required to play at AFL level yet. Remember he had surgery
-
If he can get 23 touches and a bunch of clearances in VFL then he is ready.
Sub him off if he gets tired.

We are in big big trouble

Sub him off if he gets tired.
Or when he gets injured.
Is injury not a risk in the VFL?
He's played three full VFL games now. He's right.

Expected attendance 48,000. Lol no chance now after Friday's performance.

Any game of football has its risks but I would imagine that AFL presents a greater risk to a kid playing his first full season of open age football.

Perhaps, but if he's OK to play a full game of wet-weather VFL football, playing as an inside mid, then he can play AFL I reckon.

This same game got 28k last year when we had the same amount of wins and Geelong were doing good. We will be lucky to get 30k.

Match preview: Tigers v Cats
Nathan Schmook

SUMMARY
After appearing to get back on track with a big win against the Brisbane Lions in round three, Richmond (2-2) dished up one of its worst performances in recent seasons against Melbourne on the Friday night stage. It was an effort described by coach Damien Hardwick as "insipid" and "not tough enough". To rebound with a win the Tigers will need to overcome a shocking record against Geelong, having lost the past 10 meetings. The Cats (1-3), however, find themselves in unfamiliar territory after their worst start to a season since 2004. Incredibly, the Cats have now lost two matches at their former stronghold of Simonds Stadium after North Melbourne ran over the top of them in round four to win by 16 points.
WHERE AND WHEN: MCG, Saturday, May 2, 1.45pm AEST
LAST FIVE TIMES
R7, 2014, Geelong 11.15 (81) d Richmond 12.4 (76) at the MCG
R6, 2013, Geelong 20.11 (131) d Richmond 13.9 (87) at the MCG
R4, 2012, Geelong 11.9 (75) d Richmond 9.11 (65) at the MCG
R18, 2011, Geelong 17.11 (113) d Richmond 7.9 (51) at the MCG
R6, 2010, Geelong 24.17 (161) d Richmond 7.11 (53) at the MCG
THE SIX POINTS
1. The mercurial Steve Johnson was the difference between the sides in round seven last season with 29 disposals, one goal and three Brownlow votes. However, he was the Cats' substitute last week, raising doubts about whether he can reach those same levels now.
2. No team has kicked the ball less in 2015 than Geelong. The Cats have averaged 185 kicks a game while Richmond is equal seventh at 209 a game.
3. In their dominant 10-game winning streak against Richmond, the Cats have won matches by 157, 108, 70, 63 and 62 points. Their average winning margin against the Tigers in that period is 57 points.
4. No team has received more free kicks in 2015 than Richmond at 25 per game. Geelong skipper Joel Selwood is equal first in the League for free kicks for (14).
5. Geelong continues to be the worst contested possession side in 2015, averaging only 128 a game. Richmond is ranked No.7 with 143 a game.
6. Since reaching a career-peak of No.13 last season, Geelong midfielder Steve Johnson has dropped to No.20 this year in the Official AFL Player Ratings, brought to you by Gatorade. He is likely to keep falling in the short-term after wearing the green vest in round four.
IT'S A BIG WEEK FOR …
Damien Hardwick. The Richmond coach was in the spotlight early in the week after his team's loss to Melbourne, with questions asked about why the Tigers failed to bring the required effort on the eve of Anzac Day. There will be significant interest this week in what level of performance the sixth-year coach can draw out of his players on match day.
PREDICTION: Geelong by 12 points

Dimma talking about the Geelong game ...
* They’re a great side. Their one and three win-loss record is not reflective of who they are. They’ve got some terrific players and they’re probably a little bit like us, they’ve got a couple of players out through injury. It’s going to be a tough, old game. They’re going to have a bit of sting in the tail, as will we, so we’re really looking forward to the challenge. We haven’t beaten Geelong in a long time – it’s about time we did. We’ve just got to make sure we take this challenge head-on.
* Contested ball is going to be crucial. They’re going to have some fireworks early, we’ve just got to make sure we take that battle on and get the points we’re after. If Geelong is allowed to dictate through uncontested possession, they’re going to beat most sides. So we’ve just got to make sure we deny them the ball as much as we can and defend really well.
* Last week, we kicked 6.15 and we had 3.10 from in the corridor which was disappointing. If you don’t take your opportunities and you don’t put scoreboard pressure on, it certainly comes back the other way. We’ve just got to make sure we continue to challenge our players, put them in those pressure situations, where they can hone their craft and get the result we’re after. Because, at the moment we’re not kicking anywhere near well enough at goal and the pressure comes.

So which is it?

Noticed on league teams (Foxtel) last night 3 of the 4 tipped us to win. On sen a fair few are tipping us too, legit or the media playing funny buggers ie pump us up to make the fallout even bigger

As soon as I saw the betting odds tip in our favour I jumped on BF and noticed the overwhelming majority picking us too. I don't know why. I'm not a betting man but those odds to double up by chucking some on Geelong are juicy.
-
I just can't see how we will get even close.
We are in big trouble
-
Win today and beat norf next week and Collibgwood beat the Cats we're looking at 85,000 in round 7 :shh

Funny - we are favourites with the bookmakers
But the Richmond faithful are as pessimistic as hell.

l'm sure we don't know how too man up. pathetic really is
-
How many basic turnovers Richmond! How freaking many!
-
Will the coach stops Blitzavs???
Useless!!!!
DO SOMETHING!
-
11 Tigers haven't touched the ball yet.
-
Great contested mark by Rewoldt & got 50m
-
Houli to Jack who gets 50. Kicks to Vickery 20m out and he drops the uncontested mark :P.
-
Chalpin to Rance to Dusty to Vickery who can't mark again. Newy gathers and snaps but it's touched on the line.
Rich 2
Geel 13
-
Houli on Steve Johnson. :facepalm
-
l'm going to make a serious statement here. Hunt is one of the weakest players l have ever seen play VFL/AFL He is a chicken & thats why Geelong let him go
-
Kicking efficiency: 60% to Geelong's 70%.
Disposals: 35- 60
Inside 50s: 6 all miraculously.
Dusty long and Jack marks 40m. Post again. Our freaking goalkicking :banghead.
Rich 3
Geel 13
-
that was clear cut deliberate taking the ball through without any pressure :banghead
-
You know when we are playing crap when we over-handball and our handpasses can't hit a open target 5m away.
-
Missing Lids big time today. Someone who can run and carry the ball, break the lines and hit a target.
-
We are officially back to playing our old style of football :banghead Who teaches this poo
-
Astbury does not belong in the side. Terrible
-
Who is on Motlop?????
poo!!!!
-
Steve Johnson off the ball hits Cotch and gives away the free. Rance goes to Cotch's aid.
As for the game - our half-forward line is a brick wall. Geelong rebounding at will :scream.
4 - 14
-
Jack to Dusty 55m out finds the first gamer Corey Ellis 51m out. Point.
Rich 5
Geel 14
-
Corey Ellis to Chaplin to Jack 1-vs-2.
Corey had a few touches there but his snap rolls and hits the point post. No score.
Selwood throws the ball (not called ::) ) but we get the free in defence for a good tackle. Siren. Mercy bell!
1/4 time
Richmond 0.5-5
Geelong 2.2-14
Perhaps we can start again :help.
-
Astbury getting torn a new one. looks disinterested, disappointing. Like cotch showing some aggression but needs to channel that into the contest by winning the ball, not fighting off ball. again F50 entry and organisation is letting us down the most.
-
Capt. needs to step up
-
:chuck :chuck :chuck :chuck
Is this the team that said they were a bloody good side.
:ROTFL
P. S. SIDESHOW BOB. 1 kick 1 Clanger. :facepalm
-
The signs are there. We just need to calm down & take that extra second to compose & execute the disposal. Brandon Ellis would be on the the pine for me with Astbury. Cotch showing the way by fighting which others needs to start doing. He takes the best tags weekly & is showing his had enough. Johnson copped a great punch in the head & if that aint leading by example & others don't follow we are doomed. Man the hell up in that forward line when they are kicking out.
-
Stats:
Disposals 73 - 99 (cont. 23 - 30)
Inside 50s: 10 - 7
Tackles: 17 - 10
Clearances 9 - 9
Frees: 7 - 2
Hitouts: 8 - 12
Houli 8
B.Ellis 6
Dusty 6
Miles 5
Newman 5
Chaplin 4
Edwards 4
Hunt 4
Maric 4

Geelong aren't playing well. We're just our own worst enemy.
-
who gave off that hospital handball to Houli after Macintosh showed his got ability.
-
Nice kick to the fat side. :clapping
-
Lennon set this up :clapping. Vickery finally holds onto one and he kicks it :gotigers
Rich 11
Geel 14
-
Just what we want Vickery :clapping :gotigers
-
Grigg out of centre to Titch to Ivan and hits TV again 45m out. OOTF! :P
-
Serious we are slow & not ready for the fast moving ball up forward. This is the problem
-
Cotch to McIntosh on the wing hands to Astbury to Vickery at HF but it's spoiled as TV tried to mark it on the chest.
We get it back but our kick inside 50 is again cut off.
It's kick to kick at the minute.
Rance now to Newy on the lead beyond 50. Gets the distance but it fades for a point.
Rich 1.6-12
Geel 2.2-14
-
Macintosh has only been here for a little bit but already he's forgotten how to shephard after the quick give.
Pathetic.
-
Serious we are slow & not ready for the fast moving ball up forward. This is the problem
No faith in our forward line. If it's not marked, the opposition will clear it. We have no smalls or crumbers.
We've dominated the quarter so far but can't put it on the scoreboard. No surprise Geelong go forward for rare chance and goal :banghead.
12 - 20
-
We look smaller slower and skinnier than them.
-
We need another Mcintosh
-
"Richmond are leading the inside 50 count 14 to nine, yet inaccuracy in front of goal is costing them kicking 1.6.12, including 1.3.9 from set shots."
The old saying - Bad kicking is bad footy!
-
Titch :snidegrin
:gotigers
-
Geez we are dumb dumb dumb. A clear breakaway from a stoppage and we handball ourselves into trouble. We get another chance and Jack gives away to a free.
Yep the only way we were going to get a goal. A bad Geelong turnover in defence. Lonergan's bad kick gifts Titch a goal :gotigers
Rich 18
Geel 20
-
That is the worst decision l have ever seen :banghead
-
The best days of Stevie J are well behind him. Finally year for him.
Ivan to Houli back of centre. Finds Batch to Chaplin to Lennon on the boundary at HF. Goes to long but no mark and Geelong clear at ground level ::).
We have it again. A chain of six handballs and our kick forward goes wide and to a Geelong player :facepalm.
-
A goal to them :banghead.
18 - 27
-
Serious we are pathetic. Vickery does the hard smother & then everyone watches & they goal cause they can't & wont man up. They are weak. l hope they come out in the second half as men
-
Vickery has to be the softest gutless incompetent lazy gutless person ever to pull on the jumper
-
Hunt gets the free for holding the ball. Back to Rance to HB. Dumb handballs again between Rance and Hunt but we get it to Dusty who turns it over by foot :P.
Geelong run it up for a long goal.
That sums up our play :banghead.
18 - 33
-
& that fans is the end of the game right there. :banghead
-
Vickery has to be the softest gutless incompetent lazy gutless person ever to pull on the jumper
What game are you watching ? Vickery is playing ok
-
Wouldn't surprise me if Hardwick calls it quits after this game. :snidegrin
-
Usual suspects make Dumma seem more Dunn each week. Batchelor must back the opponents. Vickers the laziest person I have ever seen. Zero system. Good players? Don't influence the match.
-
Cats are bottom 4 quality and they're spanking us
-
Now we're into dumb self-preservation mode. No one is running and we have no one forward of the ball to kick to.
We've dropped our heads now. Sloppy defence gives away another goal :banghead.
And another to them :help.
18 - 45
Last 4 goals in 5 minutes to Geelong :help
-
Cats are bottom 4 quality and they're spanking us
We only have 2 wins because we got to play Carlton and Brisbane in the first 3 weeks. We are a bottom 4 side.
-
Wouldn't surprise me if Hardwick calls it quits after this game. :snidegrin
Before he goes he should ask good ol' Blair about how that list management is going ::).
-
Cats are bottom 4 quality and they're spanking us

We're VFL quality... :help
-
They are not even trying. This is pathetic :banghead :scream
-
:lol :lol :lol
-
Gutless. Cant come out like this after the performance last week. No want to show that they arent pathetic. No competitiveness or pride.
I have no pride supporting this club anymore.
-
We are our own worst enemy and it starts with our useless forward line.
"Geelong's tall defenders Taylor, Lonergan and Rivers have been hard to pass with the trio taking a combined eight marks from opposition kicks between them."
"Of Geelong's score of 4.3.27, all bar one behind has come from a chain launched from its defensive half. Three goals have come from turnovers and one has come from a kick-in."
"Today, the Cats have already scored 5.2.32 from chains launched from their defensive half."
"In the last seven minutes, Geelong have had five of six inside 50s and have cashed in kicking four goals, three as a result of Richmond turnovers."
Pathetic! :banghead
-
Wouldn't surprise me if Hardwick calls it quits after this game. :snidegrin
you obviously do not watch That lazy vickery stroll to pick up another player. No urgency. Could not give a toss. Taking or attempting a chest mark when a professional footballer knows to take the mark out in front. No grunt. No heart. No brain I suspect.
-
Half-time
Richmond 0.5 2.6-18
Geelong 2.2 7.4-46
Goals: Vickery, Edwards.
Gutless. Cant come out like this after the performance last week. No want to show that they arent pathetic. No competitiveness or pride.
I have no pride supporting this club anymore.
Because the club ignores the flaws in the team and list especially forward of centre and tries to pass it off as "not coming out to play" :facepalm.
-
Hardwick Must be Sacked!
2 Goals in a half of football is pure rubbish.
Style of football is pure rubbish.
Coaching tactics from our box are total rubbish.
Our player list is rubbish.
-
Please tell me that Hardwick might actually give them a spray at halftime. FFS the commentators can see we are flat, even Hardwick looks flat to me, did they train too hard in the pre season. Its like watching our players running in treacle and the Cats are on roller blades, where is our run, handpassing to stationary players, chip kicks sideway and backwards, we saw this early last season and its happening again. Half a season plus a pre season and the clueless coaching staff still cant fix this, pathetic. :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
If l wasn't ill today l wouldn't be watching this game. l see better down at the local. If you have a player running beside you why the freakin hell would you pass it too him. Kick the bloody thing long cause forwards can't time their leads when the ball is constantly being overused. :banghead :banghead :banghead
-
Monkey ... just do what I did ... turn it off. Theyre not worth squat. Hardwick, the players, the assistant coaches, the football department ... no worth a tinkers cuss.
-
Wouldn't surprise me if Hardwick calls it quits after this game. :snidegrin

Strange how the commentators are saying his also doing well. His not there to chase players. His there to kick goals & make his presence in the forward line. Geelong have some of the most experienced play makers in that backline for any AFL team to chase. Thats how they setup most their goals.
-

First 5 mins of this quarter will reveal just what our playing group is made of. Came out flat to start the game and looked alright for 5 or so mins. IF we come out of half time flat then I just don't understand what's wrong with these players.
-
-20 down in contested possies.
-40 down in uncontested possies.
We're getting spanked on the inside and out by a ageing Geelong side. We are just terrible. Forward line is useless.
-
If l was Hardwick l would be cutting some heads off this week. B. Ellis, T. Hunt, Astbury, & blooding some new players
-

Astbury and Ellis wont be dropped. They are Hardwicks boys (amongst many others). That Elton didn't get a chance is a disgrace. We are rebuilding again people. As I told you all last year
The rebuild is dead... long live the next rebuild. :snidegrin
-
Cotch to Houli to Grigg but misses the target at HF. McIntosh still gets it and Jack gets a free 65m out. To the forward pocket and it's spoiled out of bounds.
Commentators stating the obvious saying we a listless and lacking cohesion.
Houli now with a set shot. Goal :gotigers. AT least we kick the first of the third quarter for a chance.

Bulldogs are playing great footy with some heavy loss of players after last season. Collingwood played great last night with new players so why is it we are rabble. l think our players are so pent up beating Carlton that we have set them as a bench mark. They are rabble & we are happy beating them. :scream
-
OMG l click it back over just in time Geelong scores another goal :banghead

And that's it boys and girls. Geelong makes us pay and the mini-charge is over. We'll drop our heads again so easily.

:banghead :banghead :banghead that was a perfect spoil WTF is going on umpires :banghead
-
Thanks ump. No free there. Hawkins misses away. It was OOTF but the goal umpire gives a point.
37 - 59
-
Something ive noticed this game in particular is that the players dont want the ball. the geelong players HUNT and ATTACK the ball whereas our player will get the ball but get rid of it as quickly as possible to team mates most of the time under pressure.
-
It's obvious Selwood has some input to the Geelong team they way they act for frees.
-
And there it is again. The unnecessary momentum-killing handball when we were on the break. Flossy just kick the blooody thing! :banghead
-
Sam Lloyd was substituted into the game for Ben Lennon.
-
That hurt well done Cory Ellis getting up after stops across the thigh & not letting them see it hurt :clapping

Bad decision. l would have subbed Taylor Hunt

Another unenforced error by us but they miss. Thankfully they are now missing.

Only at Richmond do we headbutt the ball :snidegrin

Sam Lloyd was substituted into the game for Ben Lennon.
Bad decision. l would have subbed Taylor Hunt
Agree. Why doesn't Lennon get a proper run..
-
Flossy to Mcintosh (good mark) to Houli. Goes long. Stoppage in the forward pocket. Cats clear from our forward line at ground level yet again :banghead.
Selwood gives away to the free to Chaplin. Kick is turned over :banghead and Geelong have a set shot 30m out. Misses thankfully
43 - 63
-
l reckon sack some of these players cause they are so dumb :banghead
-
Cory ellis playing out of his skin this quarter. Astbury looking much better out of the defence.
CAPTAINS GOAL 0/2 so far this year is cotch.
and 0/3. Get stuffed.
-
Cotchin cops more smacks in the head than any player in the AFL
-
Brave kick-in for Miles to mark. We go forward but Dusty blazes away OOTF :scream.
We get it back. Newy hands to Cotch to Corey Ellis to Houli to Dusty 50m. Kicks it into the man on the mark (what are you doing today Dusty :huh ). Stoppage.
Titch now long to full forward but Cats clear for a throw-in. Free to Cotch. 59 secs to go. 30m out. Misses :banghead.
44 - 63

Lats chance. Houli to Grigg to Rance but off his non-preferred it's turned over. Siren.

C'mon tigers show us what you got.....
Two shriveled balls and one teeny cock!!
-
Maric wasted another pass into the F50 kicking it to 2 cat players. Drop him & bring in Hampson. Got to make him earn his money :snidegrin
-
I wanna know why its taken 4 and a half games to start playing on and running. Probably too late for this game.
-
C'mon tigers show us what you got.....
Two shriveled balls and one teeny cock!!
::) ;D :lol :rollin
-
Cotch doesn't know the meaning of a captains goal. Should be kicking those
-
well at least we got 4 goals that quarter. A better effort but Geelong are too professional for our lot.
-
I cant believe i am saying this but in my mind Cotch is no longer the elite player he may have been. An elite player and also Captain when your side really needs it will put those kicks through the big sticks, simply not good enough. But again for all the effort we have little to show for it that quarter, poor decision making and poorer skills. Trying to play a faster brand of game but our skill level is just very poor, loopy handballs, passes low to the ground and to two on ones, all the mistakes a VFL side would make. We are so far off being competitive this season its just deja vu from last season. Really cant see where our next win will come from to be honest. A true test of character will be this last quarter, do we lie down and just roll over or do we fight it out, will be an interesting press conference for Hardwick given his presser from last week, nowhere to hide.
-
Cotch miss was a non negotiable given the effort and state of the game.
Leader of men he is not.
Had enough of this non combative result driven leadership failure crap at RFC.
Can't win today and overall just middle of the road mediocrity.
No point if he gets 30 touches we get done and he misses that.
I'm over it.
Hodge, McVeigh Pavlich, sell wood won't miss that. :help

Sick of this mob.

We are crap. How does a player get the ball passed 2 mids then after a comedy of blunders Geelong still scores with a herd of stand still tigers.
:banghead

Not once intercept mark in defence today. Geelong have had 10+.
And that's the game. Geelong goal to start the quarter.

Out of ideas. Dusty high to Lloyd 55m out. High and long. No mark and Geelong clear at ground level again. Groundhog day.

This is shocking. A comedy of slop :facepalm.

Use the forwards for Geez sake
Aside from Jack - what forwards? The imaginary ones good ol' Blair was meant to bring in as list manager.
-
Disgrace

Rance to McIntosh to Batch who goes backwards around the body towards a Geelong player :huh.
We get it back. Jack gets a free 53m out. Top fo the square. Lloyd legged but no free. Rushed through.

They let a good forward go in Dean McDonald who is making his way back to league football. Currently at Coburg but coming back from pre-season injury. His dynamic as a goal sneak & forward pressure & excellent skills. reminds me of a Daniel Conners type but stronger & faster. Still only 22 & a Tiger supporter.

Well done Corey Ellis :clapping :pray :pray :pray miracle :snidegrin

Thanks but no thanks.
Enough of the nearly or the this or the that.
Failure failure failure.

Riewoldt should have had a shot but tried to handball from 15 metres out
That's what happens when you coach a goal kicker to stop kicking goals and to share them
Get stuffed you stupid idiots nfi

:banghead :banghead another game lost l'm not 1 bit happy with that performance & expect heads to roll.
We won't play finals this year but Geelong won't on that performance.

absolutely pathetic. Dont care how CLOSE we got. why does it take 3 quarters to 'turn up to play'. Most annoying team to barrack for. Cant wait to hear the stupid comments from the coach after this one.
-
Hardwicks face after the siren had clueless written all over it, he simply does not know what to do, 4 more losses coming in quick succession so maybe we all take a month off to avoid further torture watching this lot.

I didn't criticise the coach for this loss. i criticised him for his stupid comments after losses which I have always done. Its plain to see in this game our players weren't hard at it and had no energy for 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 quarters. its like all of a sudden they wake up and think geez we're going to lose this one. Didnt 'open up like we expected'
-
maybe they are using the wrong drugs. maybe taking downers instead of uppers :snidegrin
-
Don't worry boys - next week there will be another line in the sand drawn. All good.
-
l wonder how many Richmond supporters are on anxiety / depression medication :snidegrin
That's if there is any left at the chemist after the Collingwood supporters go in for their scripts ;D

Groundhog day. Virtually a repeat of last year's Geelong game. The cynical will say we only lifted in the last when the game was gone and there was no expectation on us getting back in the game.

l can't get over the serious mistakes 3 umpires can make on a day. That free against Rance was the perfect spoil that a stat he will never claim. It was perfection by Rance & how umpires can make them mistakes stuns me.

Should've sacked Dimma after 2012 and got Ken Hinkley
Thought we played some of our best footy in 2012…..
Faster and more exciting than todays brand that's for sure.
-
Thought for the first 10-15 minutes in the 3rd qtr we played fast attacking footy but poor decisions meaning resulted in turnovers, lose the momentum you have and bang they get a couple of really soft goals. Then we go back to stupid, slow footy :banghead
Was really impressed with Corey Ellis, if only some of our more senior blokes showed the 2nd efforts this kid did today. Yes he made mistakes but every time he did he went again, 2nd effort, 3rd effort. Impressed with that sort effort
Biggest momentum killer though was the Cotchin's miss in the 3rd. Saw the heads drop, crucial
Also in the final Jack should have kicked it not hand balled to Grigg. Poor decision
-
WP I think Jack has become a share the love fullforward he needs to become more selfish
-
That's exactly what I said earlier this thread at the time of occurrence. That play in a nutshell summed up what the coaching philosophy has done. He's coached a natural goalkickers hunger for goals out to instead share them around for the betterment of the team, well in big games big players carry their side over the line, jack was 15 out needed a quick snap to get us within 7 points, instead he stuffing tries to handball over the top, misses game over.
That is player ruination

Absolutely
And also going to go against the trend here but I thought our tackling in the 1st half was some of the best I'd seen since probably 2012/13.
Dropped off considerably in the 2nd half but what it shows is if the mindset is right they can actually be aggressive when they tackle
-
Unfortunately this clubs mindset is so shallow and their application to the job at hand feeble

but our ball movement was terrible. Players first instinct is to go sidewards towards the boundary which gives the opposition time to get back and have good structures.

Not disputing that but I wasn't talking about our ball movement. I was only talking about our tackling in the first half. For something that has been practically non existent for the 1st four rounds it was a small positive in an otherwise terrible day.
Raise the obvious question thought why can't they do it for a full game, week after week after week

Yeah I know. The real problem with the RFC is that the players are happy to go at 95% and collect their pay check week in week out. This has been going on for 33 years. Until someone can come in and get players who have pride in their performance and do the little sacrificial things like shepherd, block protect their team mate and run hard both ways for 4 quarters week in week out, then we will always be posting criticisms on this site. It happened briefly in the Northey era but that's just about it.
-
I thought Cotch was good today, showed a bit of mongrel.
Stevie J and Selwood are the 2 biggest free kick posers inthe AFL, the free kick agaunsr Batch was a dusgace as was the one against Rance/Hawkins (THE perfect contest/spoil)
-
Just not good enough. 2 and 3 and we should really be 4 and 1 if you believe the hype.

Footy Smarts.

MCG alarm caused chaos during Tigers-Cats clash
A FOOTBALL hitting an internal sprinkler was the cause of the MCG's emergency warning system being activated at Saturday's clash between Richmond and Geelong.
As the teams took their places for the start of the third quarter, an alarm went off around the ground that was accompanied by a voiceover that told those in attendance to evacuate.
Most of the crowd appeared confused by the alarm and directive, and there wasn't a mad rush to leave the ground.
Play started on time as the sound ceased, and an announcement was made to inform patrons it was a false alarm.
The MCC later explained it was an incident within the Ponsford Stand that activated the system.

Tim Watson after Morris recovered Grigg's shyte kick then passed it back to him to set up his shot - "Morris usually makes good decisions with the football in his hands"
No wonder St.Kilda only won six games in two years under him.

In the first quarter our tackling was good. I think we got about 3 or 4 holding the ball decisions. From then on the tackling intensity dropped. Agree ball movement was substandard. It was slow. We over used it-handpassing when should have kicked it. Made us very predictable going into attack. Jack did not have a chance and Vickery was not providing an effective foil and was wasteful of the chances he got. Geelong were understrength yet Scott again outpointed Hardwick. Most damning for me is that we came out flat. It appeared only Maric came out with aggression and it took an act of aggression from Cotchin to get any sort of passion from other members of our team excluding Jack and Maric. Before that only a tackle from Jack had given any indication that the team was going to apply themselves.

The beers are 1.5 pots in size and $7.30. No difference in price to a lot of city pubs. I actually reckon the price for beer isn't that bad.
Must confess to having washed down a couple of pies with more than a couple of draughts.

Anything more than $4 for a pot is un-Australian
