Hmmm considering Conca was valued at 37 you'd think those three would get us some decent picks....Astbury's always an injury away from being finished...Edwards not getting any younger and Ellis....is ....Ellis..... :shh
GWS FA's look the most enticing....though Swallow has three mates here now.... :shh :shh

This probably belongs in a different thread but I caught a sniff of something today regarding our targets next year.
I work with one of the Fremantle medical staff that looks after them when they're in Melbourne. We were chatting about the trade period today and he mentioned that they are terrified Cerra is going to demand a trade for us this time next year.
Just a murmur, nothing more.

Cerra spent most of this year considering it.....and will do so again next year... :shh

Think you've just turned a murmur into a loud conversation on this site. Will be an MCG roar by mid next year. He's going to look good in yellow and black

Coniglio is the only FA on that list I'd be keen on us chasing.

With Grigg and possibly Houli retiring this time next year, we'll have room back in the cap to chase someone of that ilk :pray.

THIS year's free agency crop is the oldest in recent years and lacks depth in the 25-26 age bracket that has proved far and away the happiest hunting ground for rival teams.
A remarkable 25 of the 37 players – 67.6 per cent – who have moved clubs since free agency's introduction in 2012 have been aged 25 or 26 at the start of the relevant season.

Let 'em all go and grab the compo picks.... :shh

Man coniglio would be a sweet pick up
-
This means the few mid twenty free agents will attract plenty of attention so hopefully if Ellis does decide to exercise his rights then we will get a hefty compensation pick

Out of contract: Top free agents for 2019

DAVID ASTBURY (Richmond)
A hugely under-rated key position defender who played when ill in the preliminary final and had his colours lowered. Brisbane was interested in 2015. Tigers will be keen to wrap him up early. Turns 28 on Tuesday.
SHANE EDWARDS (Richmond)
Has just come off an All-Australian season and turned 30 in October. His management hasn’t started talks on a new deal but they aren’t far away. Expected to finish his career a well-decorated Tiger.
BRANDON ELLIS (Richmond)
Loves the club, won a premiership there and currently attempting to become a legitimate midfielder after being pushed out of the back six last year. Is the kind of player a smart rival would think has significant upside and is still only 25.

RICHMOND
UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS
Brandon Ellis
Huge interest from rival clubs for the half back and wingman, but left out of Richmond’s Round 1 side. Clubs were keen to trade for him last year but the Tigers baulked.
Now the job is in front of him to get into this side. In a free agency period very short on quality he could be a rich man by year’s end if he takes up an offer from a Melbourne club.
Needs to get back into the Tigers side first, but can’t see the Tigers paying him what others might offer.
UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS
Shane Edwards
Contract talks have only just started on what would likely be a two-year deal for the 2018 All Australian, who could hit 250 games by year’s end and turns 31 in October.
The only issue for a player now getting recognition for his unique skills is what he is paid given the Tigers have cap issues, but no reason for many delays in this contract negotiation.
David Astbury
Talks have started with his media-shy manager Alex McDonald. Astbury’s role only grows in importance with Alex Rance out of the side for a year. Nearly went to Brisbane a few years back but no reason to leave a club he loves.
Bachar Houli
Eventually signed a one-year deal late last season but at his best a damaging half back and desperate to keep playing for a few more years yet.
Shaun Grigg
Sidelined with a knee injury and with his role as a quasi-ruckman likely to be diminished. But Grigg has always been one of the AFL’s most reliable ball winners and will feel he can prove himself all over again when he returns from injury.

The AFL has clarified its rules surrounding compensation for clubs affected by recent changes to free agency rules.
The league changed rules for delisted free agents this year, meaning players who have previously been delisted become free agents at the end of every subsequent contract.
There had been some uncertainty in recent months – both at AFL headquarters and amongst clubs – as to whether a club would be eligible for a compensation pick if a former delisted free agent left under these new rules.
However the league confirmed to The Age on Thursday that clubs would be eligible for compensation as these former delisted free agents are classified as unrestricted free agents.
For instance, if a player such as emerging Richmond tall Mabior Chol were offered a three-year deal on significant money by a rival club, the Tigers would be eligible for compensation under the AFL's standard secret formula.
Chol was on the most recent AFL list of unrestricted free agents after being re-rookied by the Tigers at the end of last year after being delisted following three years on the club's rookie list.

Restricted free agents: Brandon Ellis
Unrestricted free agents: Shane Edwards, Bachar Houli, Maverick Weller, Jacob Townsend
State of play: The Tigers are now resigned to losing Ellis after he put contract talks on hold until season's end. As a restricted free agent, the wingman falls in the Tigers' top 10 earners this year and would need to take a pay cut on any new deal to stay. Gold Coast is leading the race for his services. Houli has finally been offered a deal for 2020, while Edwards will remain a Tiger, with an announcement on his future imminent. Decisions on Weller and Townsend will be made in October. - Mitch Cleary
