Title: Memorabilia what are you buying?
Post by: Rampsation on September 30, 2019, 02:46:20 PM
Ive just ordered the Yellow & Black 2019 premiers team signed lithograph.

Ive also ordered HS poster with the premiership cards around the border.

Ill wait to see what else is put out hopefully some more nice pieces come up for sale.

Would have loved to get the 2017 and 19 signed premiership jumpers but $4k is way to much money and at least for me I cant justify the cost.

I'll grab the select footy cards when they are released.

A few of the magazines, and a couple of Knight posters.

i'll get the kids 2020 AFL gold premiership logo guernseys.

Probably a slab of beer.

I bought 5 Knight poster after the game at the ground

One is proudly on display in my office

Apart from that and based on the debacle it was in 2017 I'm loathed to buy anything on line

Might go into the store and see what they've got but nothing appeals TBH

But will buy a copy of the game

They lost me in 2017
Things were more expensive with a members discount than what anyone could buy for at the AFL Stores , which to me is complete rubbish

Add to that it took 5 months to get some things I ordered grand final night

Same, apart from the kids stuff, that was my haul from the 2017 flag, and I will replicate it, with the footy cards probably being my fav souvenir, closely followed by the beer.

All I want is high definition blu ray packs of the whole finals series.

Is this available? I've seen the DVD of 2017 that's going around but heard poor reviews of the quality.

Elsewise happy to just keep my membership and ticket from this year, keep adding to my yearly collection of scarves etc.

Managed to get the Herald Sun poster today from one of my patients in the cafeteria who didn't want a bar of it :D

I have the HD version of just the 2017 GF as well as the SD version of the whole final series. Like you, I’m hoping they have an HD version of the whole final series this time.

Any sport in SD these days is utter garbage and the fact that any sport is televised in SD is disgraceful. Can't see a damned thing!

Does anyone know if the 2019 Victory Pack (all our finals wins) will have the different audio of the grandfinal calls like it did in 2017?

I thought it was a great feature, even if I did get the wonky disc with timing issues first up.

I have tried emailing Beyond Home Entertainment who produce it without any luck.

Thinking about getting either the 2017 grand final alone or the 2017 victory pack.

Is this the one you bought? Does it have the alternate calls of the different radio stations for the grand final and is the grand final in blu ray format or all DVD quality?

That is the one I bought Tiger Khosh. DVD all games, there were quite a few comments about that when it was released. If you wanted it in Blu Ray you had to buy it in that format (GF only IIRC, couldn’t get the Victory Pack in Blu Ray)-). Nothing on the box of the 2017 pack says it has the alternate calls.

The Victory pack has alternative calls for the GF only (7, 3AW, SEN & MMM) and includes a 2017 season review with Richo, Grigg & Wayne Schwass. So it's a 4-disc set (GF, PF, QF & season review).

Ok I’ll grab the victory pack then. Shame they aren’t in blu Ray quality though - might just buy the grand final seperately and swap out the CDs.

Can we assume the 2019 victory pack will be the same with the alternate calls? Annoying that it doesn’t state it in the description.

I wouldn’t assume anything. The company that produced the Victory Pack 2017, Beyond Home Entertainment, got bought out by another company. If I find out any more, I’ll let you know.

When re-signing Dusty do you think the club suggest ways like writing a book as another avenue of earning more money to get him up closer to the Godfather offers from other clubs?

Club might say we can pay you a mill a year which might be $300k behind another offer, but we will put out a book and the Tiger faithful will buy it and make up some of the difference...

If 50000 Tiger supporters buy the book for $20, Dusty might see $10 per book- $500k

Does this stuff happen?

Manager Ralph absolutely.  All this outside of footy stuff would be Ralph. Just like Dusty's Dad writ8ng a book and getting a book deal was all done Ralph

Precisely, and this is very good player management. I used to despise Care but honestly none of his players have left and he seems to be finding ways for them to stay at RFC.

I will reveal now so i dont get pms unnecessarily
Weg is going to produce or reproduce a gold foil poster
for 1980 over next 12 months or so. In time they will also go back and do 1974, 1973, 1969 and 1967.
So if we are patient over the next few years our collections of the gold foil posters are going to be complete. Could even do all the posters going back to 1920.

WEG died in 2008.
If you are referring to the Weg Art posters, those are done by one of his relatives.

I don't recognise those as true Weg posters personally. To my understanding WEGS real posters were being reproduced by that relative and sold against his wishes.

The true replacement now for the WEG posters is the Knight posters from the Herald Sun. I managed to get the black one  from 2017 and the gold and black ones from this year and they look great.

I do have all the original weg posters (67, 69, 73, 74, 80) as well as our losing poster from 82 which obviously was never sold because we lost the GF. One day I will get them all framed, and in the 2017 and 2019 frames I'll have my GF ticket with them  :thumbsup

When I said Weg I did mean Weg Art. I know William Ellis Green passed away. His business is run by his Son in Law. In terms of the Weg Posters produced after he died, what you should know is that Weg drew posters for every team for after he died. So they are original Weg design Posters, The only thing that is super imposed is the date because obviously Weg didn't know when each team would win a flag. So the new WEG posters are original William Ellis Green posters and  are recognised as such and there are enough posters going forward to last a lifetime.

The Knight posters are a new replacement done by the HS but they are 100% not WEG posters and will never be recognised as such. They cant even be considered as post WEG simply they are not WEG designs. At least the new WEGS are still original WEGS.

Yes that's right, the son in law runs the Weg Art business.

Weg Art is not WEG, and those posters that you see are not drawn by WEG. They are drawn by the son in law.

I met WEG and his business partner Geoff multiple times at their store when I was collecting the originals years ago. They ran a store out of Croydon for years until WEG died.

The son in law was running his own business during that time and they had ongoing issues with the son in law for using WEGs drawings and selling them while he was in business with the Herald Sun.

It is true that WEG started on a bank of posters for after he died, and I had the privilege of seeing some of them. Those posters being sold by Weg Art are not the banked posters that WEG drew. Not sure who has told you that but it's false. When WEG died the Sun's and Giants weren't around and you can see they feature on the Weg Art website... The son in law draws those himself along with all the new posters they sell.

What I do know is WEG eventually stopped drawing the 'banked' posters, and instead wanted Paul Harvey to take over from him after he died. Once he died, the Herald Sun went with Mark Knight instead of Harvey.

Harvey now does his own poster every year as well which you can look up if you like, some of them look quite good.

So the closest thing you can get to the original posters in my opinion is the ones with the Herald Sun logos and that see the proceeds go to the Good Friday Appeal. We will never have another WEG, but he did those posters for the newspaper and for the charity and that's what lives on with the current ones.

I don't know anything about the family relationships there its none of my business maybe you know and have better information but I was told a lot of "banked posters" exist.

If the son in law is drawing the new Weg Art posters then he is doing a bloody good job. The 2017 and 2019 posters for us are brilliant posters and I consider them to be better than a lot of others going around.

If you're after a poster that sticks with Wegs style then Weg Art is the way to go  :thumbsup At the end of the day all that matters is that you enjoy your collection and the Tigers keep winning so we can have the choice to keep adding to them from wherever we please :cheers

He definitely started on a bank of posters, but he stopped soon after starting. I don't know what happened to them to be honest but I did see some of the ones he had done and what I will say is I haven't seen them reproduced since by anyone so they're probably locked away somewhere with his old business partner? Your guess is as good as mine.

I just picked up my framed Mark Knight poster framed with the Premiership Cards bordering the design.
The premiership cards have a white background and it makes a fantastic contrast to the 2017 frame Ive got which had black background cards.

Once again Sport Jersey Framing North Road Bentleigh East have come through 100%. There doing all my memorabilia these days. Quality framing at very fair pricing. I recommend anyone here to Ange at Sport Jersey Framing. For anyone interested Sporys Jersey Framing is located on the corner of North Road and Poet Road. Sort of Opposite the Maccas.

Victory pack is only DVD quality based on what’s displayed on the packaging and the description on the website.

Can only get the grand finals on blu ray.

DVD quality isn't great IMO. I struggle watching sport in anything but HD nowadays.

Would be nice if someone could record the HD replays off Kayo maybe...
