Dismal Tiger years
1987 5 wins 82.5%
1989 5 wins 70.9%
1992 5 wins 73.5%
1993 4 wins 70.7%
2004 4 wins 69.2%
2007 3.5 wins 77.2%
2009 5.5 wins 74.3%
I guess you could argue we were more pathetic in 2004...but with all the Gold Coast draft concessions it almost feels like we are sinking in quick sand.
I look back to 1993 and think Wow we made the preliminary 2 years later...but there will be no " Fitzroy carcass" to save us this time.
To say we have to "nail" this years draft is a massive understatement.

i try and put the pain of these shocking years behind me, coz it's fresh yeah it is as bad as I remember, However It is all up from here, as we couldn't possibly play any worse :gotigers :'( :gotigers

I think this year was extremely painfull
I dont think you can judge by wins
We played without any spirit or passion ( apart from Jake King ).
Compare us with North, at least they have a go.
WE DIDNT on many occasions
The win against Melbourne was a disgracefull effort

Without taking any stats into account, the team as a whole just seemed to have given up and see themselves as a football club with no future.
Scary time ahead next year .... God help us :'(

Richmond beat a second string Melbourne outfit (after the siren)
The players celebrated like they won the flag....when they should of been too embarrassed to look Jade in the face.
Have not played with any pride or passion since. :chuck
Horrible, rip your heart out, soul destroying year.

We've had worse years both on and off (1990 and not knowing if we'd have a club at all for example) but they were never headed by such overbloated expectations which is why hurts more. The whole club got ahead of themselves and having a coach already under the pump for 2 years previously meant if we had a shocking start to the year which we did the pressure from within and without (media) would be terminal. Very similar to 2002 in a way and how the season and the team's belief and spirit died after the Essendon flogging in round 2. This year those things died after the first game. I can still remember Jake King telling playerlink members 30 mins before round 1 how we now had a gameplan the players believe in and know that works. Oops! :P

I didn't think Richmond played with any pride or passion against Melbourne either to be quite stuff. The fact that we won was a combination of Melbourne tanking, Melbourne not knowing how to win close ones and Richmond being extremely lucky. I am sure if winning the game would have meant something in the same way Jack had an after the siren shot against the Saints last year, McMahon would have kicked it out on the full.
