Title: Who improved in 2009?
Post by: one-eyed on August 30, 2009, 10:24:14 PM
We know many players stalled or went backwards this year which is a reason why we finished 15th but for the sake of a positive thread who actually improved this year?

I really did not have much time for him but Edwards has shown a bit lately, I thought he was good in the Eagles game. Jackson has also improved, Angus Graham has come along a little bit too I suppose. Collins was showing some good signs prior to his injury, Post has improved, Riewoldt took some steps in the right direction, and last but not least and the biggest improver out of the lot would be Tambling, he really went well this year and lifted another notch.

It's a shame but that's about the best improvers IMO... :-[

Tambling
Collins
Riewoldt
Morton
Jackson

That's about it really
All the others like Nahas and Post are first year players so can't really say they improved as they had no base to start from.

2009 has really been a year where reputations have been destroyed.

Tambo is the most improved although he plateaued in the last month.
Jackson had his best year but still makes basic skill errors.
Riewoldt and Morton have had reasonable years fighting outside their weight division.

Tambling by a long way

Collins
Reiwoldt - but needs to do more
Jackson - but his disposal didn't improve enough
McGuane
Nahas
Deledio - 2nd half of the the season was sensational

The rest... hmmmm

By the end of the season King had improved from where he was early on. Thursfield also, was showing improvement later in the season (he was finally starting to link up and run).  Tambling, Reiwoldt, Collins, Jackson, Rance, Edwards, Deledio all improved.  Cotchin, Foley and Moore can be excused for injury wrecking their seasons.  Nahas, Post, Vickery and Browne all showed some potential in their first season.
