Title: missing football
Post by: Gigantor on November 01, 2009, 06:43:39 PM
I was thinking today how much of the fabric of melboune AFL football occupies. The offseason in melbourne is not quite the same despite the better weather.sometimea I'm at a loss as to what to do,and even chats in pubs finds a welcome listener when the converstaion turns to AFL.
today i even resorted to taking my sherrin down to the park for a kick...Geez bring on the NAB cup asap please

Yeah I know how you feel. For me it's Ok once the cricket starts, but the period in between.... :sleep
I even sat down this morning and watched the local footy on the telly.

:D Catch the bus to Darwin. They play in the wet season (summer) up here. ABC replay a local game every Sunday. You may even get it on ABC2 down south??

Barracking for the Tiges is during the offseason we look so much forward to the next footy season and then by the end of the footy season we're usually glad it's over  :P  ;D. We're all waiting for the day the Tiges match high expectations with on-field performance. Hopefully after some more short-term pain that's not too far away  :pray.

If you're a nightowl or got a vhs/dvd recorder, 7TWO will be showing footy replays during the night. Richmond on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday mornings. Otherwise head down to Richmond training when you have a day off  :thumbsup.

Just 'cause your watching old games, don't restrict yourself to old technology. Get a PVR :thumbsup
Channell 7 is the last of the commercial stations to get a second channel going and it will be the first one we can get up here in the boondocks  :banghead.  A month later than everyone else, but at least we will get it.

To channel 9 and channel 10....

I have the entire RFC 2009 season on DVD - trust me you don't want to watch much of it again  :'( :'(

Actually there was some footy on Foxtel yesterday afternoon (or was it Saturday) on NITV - some "lightening premiership" or something... I think it was coming out of Darwin

I just watch general footy videos dvd to fill the footy need when I need it.
My personal favourites are
The Collingwood v Richmond rnd 4 2001
Dogs v Tigers rnd 17 2001

The Passion To Play.

For me in 3 months time we'll be anticipating NAB Cup first round and the rest of the pre season. For us it just seems that pre season has gone on forever as our season was shot by quarter time in round 1 in our minds and in reality by three quarter time in round 1. We just refused to believe it with all the Wallace/Rawlings/Cousins/Richo/Hardwick shenanigans that went on.

It's nice to have some new restored belief once again rather than some hype we were all enthralled by this time last year.
