Next Sunday is the Tiwi Island Grand final and the Imalu Tigers are playing. According to the ABC website this game is televised national at 3.30 pm, NT time
If you want to see some raw, fast, grass roots footy without a defensive zone in sight (and the occasional dog on the ground ) check your local guide and have a look.

Yep no such thing as flooding and getting numbers back up there. Just end to end free flowing old school footy. Good to see it's on ABC1 on Sunday week.

Luv watching the NT footy.
Fans spilling over the boundary with their streamers.
Dogs running on the ground
And abit of skillful non defensive footy to boot. :thumbsup

Why do they run there season so it ends in March? Be f**king hot, no?
-
I think the reason for that is to do with not clashing with cricket. Traditionally many sporting grounds will host cricket in the summer and footy in the winter. Up here we have basically a wet season (summer) and a dry season(winter). Cricket can't be played in the wet season so footy gets stuck with that time slot.
That's my understanding of it any way.
..and yes at this time of year it can be bloody hot as well as high humidity, unless it is raining.

There was a dog on the ground but he just stood and watched from the wing :D
Lots of niggle in the game today. One of the small Tiger players got totally cleaned up in a late shirtfront early on. It was something straight out of the 70s with the kid doing a 360 in the air :o. Also once the game was gone some of the Tigers just went for the man to even up.

The tiges just never looked like it at all :(
How's the way they just keep the game flowing, barely any ball ups at all. Would love to see a game of highly skilled footballers played like that.
