3aw discussing Richo vs Lloyd now.
Healy and Russell saying it's line ball. Querying why there's so much increasing love for Richo yet there's not much for Lloyd.
Who was better?
-
richo holds records :)
as far as i know lloyd doesnt.
-
Lloyd was a far better kick for goal and very successful player considering finals success. He kicked more goals but only as a pure FF as he struggled playing upfield. Pretty handy at running around with his mouth open trying to catch flies.
Richo was better at everything else.

If Richo played his career at Essendon he would have kicked more goals than Lockett the way the ball would have been coming into the forward line.
Richo still managed to kick 800 with us with the ball kicked to his ankles.
If Lloyd was at Richmond he would have kicked half the goals he did purely based on the delivery into the fwd line. No falling for frees and conning the umps either.
-
Richo in a no contest. Brownlow tells it all.
Richo won games with a crap midfield, did Lloyd?
Richo re-defined his game for the greater good of his team, when Lloyd was asked to do the same, he retired.
-
If Richo had played at Essendon there would be a gold satute of him somewhere in Windy hill.
-
Mathew Louganis also played most of his footy @ the Dome which would have assisted his accuracy
-
Don't worry about the stats, look at the work ethic on and off the ball and the ground covered during games as well as the fairness of the players...... RICHO HANDS DOWN.
-
Lloyd was a better kick
Richo had a bigger motor and a fantastic pair of hands (marking wise).

Pretty well sums it up.
If players were swapped into their respective teams there would be no comparison.
-
Richardson hands down.
Richo's kicking is the only thing that brings them some what closer.
Richo is a bad team was still a major concern for the opposition, and many occasions won the game off his own back with a very average side. When Essendon were bad Lloyd had minimal impact and never won a game when they were bad.
Richo was a star in a bad team
Lloyd was a star in a great team.
Winner = Richardson

The long and the short of it.
Richo went toe to toe with Carey as the best player in the comp for a couple of seasons around 99, 2000. Lloyd was never in that company as a player.
-
Lloyd he had better qualities & played his career for the team, not himself
harsh but true

I take your opinion and wipe my arse with it in defiance.

I think Tigermonk's opinion is full of enough poo as it is
-
I break this argument into three parts...for first 5 or 6 years...i reckon Richo by a neck...The middle stanza I reckon Llyod drew away and then last 5 years where any measure of a CHAMPION is their ability to stand the test of time and overcome adversity...Richo hands down :shh :bow

Lloyd kick bags of goals more times than Richo ;D if Richo ever kicked a bag. maybe a bag of OOTF :lol
kicked 2 x 100+
played in premierships while Richo collected wooden spoons
Captained his club which Richo did not have the mentality to do instead spat the dummy & berated his own players in front of his fans.
1 more to top it off was Lloyd always performed on the stage & never went to water unless he was taking a dive
that enough poo for you ;D
-
If Richo played at Essendon they would have had 18 flags right now as good as Lloyd was.
Playing in a wooden spoon side was not his fault TM.
In 04 when we won the sppon Richo kicked bags of 7 and 10 in successive weeks and kicked 65 for the season.
Post 2005 when the Bombers were absent from finals and struggled bar last year and 06 when Lloyd was inj from round 3 I don't think Lloyd got close to kicking 60.
This proves at least one thing to me injury free and a half decent side around him and Richo is at worst on par with Lloydy.

Look l can tell you over the span of Richo's career that the leads he gave off that were not honored by his team mates, that would have been goals would be 1000 easy
my wife felt sorry for him at games saying if he was at the Skunks that he be kicking goals with them leads & he would have them leads honored in another club
We will never know how good he could of been, but will say one thing the Richmond doctors & Terry Wallace destroyed a longer career
& l agree they were both on par. Richo was a champion & one of only a very few LOYAL club players
