Richmond
B: Shane Edwards, Kelvin Moore, Chris Newman
HB: Alex Rance, Luke McGuane, Dean Polo
C: Dustin Martin, Brett Deledio, Trent Cotchin
HF: Ben Cousins, Jack Riewoldt, Mitch Morton
F: Ben Nason, Jayden Post, Richard Tambling
Foll: Troy Simmonds, Daniel Jackson, Shane Tuck
I/C: Ty Vickery, Daniel Connors, Matthew White, Relton Roberts
Emg: Adam Thomson, Robin Nahas, Ton Hislop
In: Cousins, Tuck, Polo, Roberts, Rance, White
Out: Thursfield, Farmer, Hislop, King, Thomson, Nahas
-
Hmm, Thursfield out???
-
Cousins, Tuck in
Thomson, Hislop out
According to SEN
-
Will Thursfield and Mitch Farmer were forced out of the side through leg injuries, while Tom Hislop, Jake King, Adam Thomson and Robin Nahas have been omitted.
-
In: Cousins, Tuck, Polo, Roberts, Rance, White
Out: Thursfield, Farmer, Hislop, King, Thomson, Nahas
Shame about Thursty's injury but the 4 omissions are no loss. Most likely they won't be around next year either.
Still no change to the structure of the side with the ins. We are still way too short and small :-\.
Is Rance going to play in defence as a replacement for Thursty? :help
A weird decision to promote Polly and not play him. A waste of a rookie promotion which prevents us promoting someone else such as Gourdis (not that I rate him) or Contin.
-
It doesnt seem to make any sense does it MT? The only thing I can think of is that Polak has something he needs to work on first, which I suppose begs the question as to why promote him? Perhaps he has less to work on than any one else on the rookie list, in Hardwicks eyes?
-
I think our line-up will look closer to this.
B: Daniel Connors, Kelvin Moore, Chris Newman
HB: Shane Edwards, Luke McGuane, Richard Tambling
C: Dustin Martin, Brett Deledio, Trent Cotchin
HF: Ben Nason, Jack Riewoldt, Dean Polo
F: Alex Rance, Jayden Post, Mitch Morton
Foll: Troy Simmonds, Daniel Jackson, Shane Tuck
I/C: Tyrone Vickery, Ben Cousins, Matthew White, Relton Roberts
-
I think you will find Polo will play back :thumbsup
-
WHY?! He plays his best footy when he's attacking!
-

F: Alex Rance, Jayden Post, Mitch Morton
Foll: Troy Simmonds, Daniel Jackson, Shane Tuck
I/C: Tyrone Vickery, Ben Cousins, Matthew White, Relton Roberts
The forward line looks better at least structurally that way as there are two other talls to give Jack and Morton a chop out but the backline would still leak badly being collectively far too small and outsized.
I can't see any match-up for Edwards for instance. It'd be a boy against a man with any of the Swans forward six named :help
HF: Ryan O’Keefe, Adam Goodes, Josh Kennedy
F: Jesse White, Daniel Bradshaw, Jarred Moore
-
WHY?! He plays his best footy when he's attacking!
Has he played his best...... ;D
-
I have definitly come to the conclusion that Edwards has a picture of Hardwick with a goat, even with the injuries and ommisions they should have brought Webberly in and Edwards out. Polo could have slotted straight into Edawrds spot and no one would have noticed... ;D
-
how on earth do Rance and White get games ? :banghead :banghead :banghead

From all reports from people who stayed for the 2nd half of the Coburg game, Rance was alright.

We had Polly training as a key forward all summer and used him up there for the practice matches so it must have been the plan to have him at FF come round 1 from the start. How much time does a player get to work on things? He struggled in the practice matches so that explains why he is not in the side but then the next question is why then promote him just prior to round 1. As you say al it just doesn't make sense.
-
how on earth do Rance and White get games ? :banghead :banghead :banghead
Because people who know about football and footballers selected the side.
As opposed to the crap that you dish up with your every post which is obviously based on your skill level, or should I say - demonstrated lack of skill.

Its obviously not only me that doubts your credibility.

Infamy, do you actually go to the football?
All you do is slag me .
You dont seem you to know anything on how the game is played, match up , zones, kick ins etc..
Rance has been terrible all pre season, white likewise, and they both get games this week.
Wouldnt have dropped Hislop to bring in the likes White and Rance :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead :banghead

How long is Thursty out? Hopefully only 1 week

Your opinion is obviously different to the QUALIFIED coach at Richmond - Damien Hardwick - and his selection committee.
These football experts have real credibility for two reasons - firstly they are AFL coaches and selectors - secondly, because they don't have INTERNET NUFF-NUFFS like you - and me - in a position at the club.
Get with the program jackwasneverastar or get off altogether.
The QUALIFIED STAFF at Richmond and every other club live and die by their actions - gooses like you just crap on with negative nonsense ad-nauseum. Gooses is correct because Geese have more brains.
You've got to stop banging your head against the brick wall....the effect is really starting to show up on this forum.
-
WHY?! He plays his best footy when he's attacking!
Because at pre-match last week the assistant coach who spoke said that when Polo got back int he side it was likely to be across half back ;D

And Jack, don't call me mate, because you will never be one and that is a privilege I reserve for people with character and resilience in the face of adversity.

Actually went to the Red Cross on Wednesday to donate blood and sorry to report its Red.

then why doesn't he or she behave like a responsible person who bleeds yellow and black?
We all feel the pain about every aspect of where the Mighty Tigers are at the moment. But we are all not as bitter as this self-confessed expert. And we all know what an ex-spurt is don't we.

Hello, we have been at the same place for a long long long time. ::) As Benny Gale said, a failure
Not my fault we have seen coaches and players come and go that simply couldnt cut it. :banghead
Am not bitter at all, all I am doing is highlighting the problems we have in my opinion, after , its an intenet forum , not an appreciation society

To be fair, you kept ranting on about how McGuane would play in the forward 50 all of last week. He didn't step out of our defensive half the whole game.

To be fair, its was discussed at the club during the week, the match ups didnt allow it to happen-.
He did come out of D50.
You obviously dont watch the game.
His run and carry into F 50 in the 3rd quarter was one of the few highlights on the night
Danog, dont kno why you want be an arse for

I said nothing about D50, I said defensive half. He ran to about the centre on a few of his bursts. I loved his game. I'm not trying to be an ass, but you need to stop digging the boots into others at every opportunity.
Also, I didn't pay attention to 100% of the game because of the little lady I brought with me. Mission accomplished by the way. ;)

Yes, went plenty last year, was there for Round 1 but couldn't make it to Round 2

No, they just seem to be the only posts you read
Anything I post about match ups and strategy you must not bother reading, probably because all you are looking for is something to have a go at me about but they make so much sense you can't find fault in it. Perfectly understandable.

Funniest post of the year, for obvious reasons.
By the way, list have been elevuated ;)

Have to agree as well. Throw an in form and fit Axel into that mix and it sounds even better. :thumbsup We just need someone such as Collins, Cotin and/or Roberts to step up as a quality support act and we may have a class midfield!

Lets just hope Collins body can hold up this year as he could be anything, if his body can't though unfortunately I don't think he will be with us next year.

Did we draft another Colins last year? Because the one we already had is a tryer at very best! And that's being nice. Can you honestly tell me you think he could be anything?... Another skinny boy....
-
Collins is one player in our team that can at least boast skills, he is a very good gick, good smart football brain and is also quite quick. He is not skinny and with a pre-season WITHOUT injury he could really come along nicely. Can his body hold up...?????

Shame about Will. How long is he going to be out for? He is a very good defender and would have thrashed Bradshaw. Need to watch O'Keefe and Goodes. Hardwick made the right decison in who he dropped and who he brought in. Would try Polo upforward. I can't stand Sydney. It is time a side exposes them as being overrated hacks.
-
I can't stand Sydney. It is time a side exposes them as being overrated hacks.
I can't stand 'em either. Their style of play is an absolute disgrace, and is detrimental to the game. Especially when it nets them a premiership, and inevitably other sides (like St.K,Coll, and Crows to name a few) start copying them.
Unfortunately for most people the ends always justify the means.
-
from the RFC site....
Cousins is one of six changes the Tigers made for round three, with Alex Rance, Shane Tuck, Dean Polo and Matthew White all playing their first games this season.
"We're looking to give some others a chance," Hardwick said.
"A guy like Alex Rance has played well in the reserves as have Tuck and Polo. Some of the guys that went out were probably a little bit stiff but we thought we could get some more input from the guys coming in."
Ball-winner Shane Tuck returns to the senior side for the first time in 2010 after the coaching staff worked with him in the off-season to adjust his role in the side.
"We feel with our midfield with Cotchin, Deledio and Martin, that we needed to reconfigure Tucky in a way. So you'll see him playing a different role, which he's excited about and I'm excited about too," Hardwick said.
"It's good to have him back in the side ... he's a competitive man and that's what I like about him, so hopefully he comes in this week and has a good game."
Mature-age recruit Relton Roberts has also been given a chance to prove himself after a lacklustre AFL debut in round one.
"We felt he deserved another chance to show us what he's got. We think he's going to be a player for our future so we want to give him every opportunity to show us how he can play."
Will Thursfield (leg) and Mitch Farmer (leg) will be sidelined this week due to injury, while small forward Robin Nahas, Jake King, Tom Hislop and Adam Thomson have been dropped.
http://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/6301/newsid/91951/default.aspx
Hardwick admitted the Tigers' learning curve was a steep one after successive hidings by Carlton and the Western Bulldogs to start the season.
But he was pleased with the way his young players were responding to the challenges.
"You learn something every week and every week we highlighted three areas, and we look for improvement in those areas against Sydney,'' Hardwick said.
"We're reasonably happy with where we're at and the way we're learning, and we just want to get better.''

Really?? Hard, passionate and accountable brand of football being played. What i wouldn't give to see that kind of endevour week in week out by the tigers.
-
It was Collingwood's abysmal kicking that made them score that low.
-
It won't be a low-scoring game for the Saints when we play them :help. If they turn up with their A-game they'll swamp us with that kind of pressure, toughness and intensity :help.

Tucky obviously going to play forward this week. Probably as a lead up HF after we had King, Nahas and Nason as our HF line last week :P. Hardwick must have been reading OER. Rance may play forward as well.
HF: Nason Riewoldt Tuck
F: Morton Rance Roberts/Post.
Post may be used in defence though with Thursty out.
-
I'd like rance to take goodes. Basically follow him everyone and play him like a negative tag. Even if Goodes towels him up, he'll learn about elite endurance running......

And what I wouldn't give to see scorelines regularly topping 120 like they used to every week when I first started following the game.
-
It was Collingwood's abysmal kicking that made them score that low.
The Saints were pretty accurate in front of goals and they only scored 68, a pretty modest total by any reckoning.
For large chunks of the game the ball was just rebounding from one half-back line to the other like soccer.
And there was PLENTY of that swinging the ball backwards and sideways, and chipping through the flood.
If you people enjoy watching that, and think its' "good tough accountable footy" then you've just become desensitised to the gormless sludge that is modern footy.
-

Yeah I know. I remember what they did to us last year. Or the last six or seven years.
In fact we've been absolutely blown away by all the teams that like to flood.Because we're too dumb and/or lazy to do the kind of gut-running that's needed to beat them at their own game. >:(
-
Tuck's been playing off half-back recently. He'd be better as a forward, but that's how he's been played. Maybe he'll go with Goodes?
