Post by: one-eyed on April 12, 2010, 05:14:36 PM
Dustin Martin, Richmond, has been charged with a Level One bumping or making forceful contact from front-on offence against Josh Kennedy, Sydney Swans, during the second quarter of the Round Three match between Richmond and the Sydney Swans, played at the SCG on Saturday April 10, 2010.

In summary, he can accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.

I know he isnt suspended but this is crap, initially it looked bad but when they showed the other angles there was nothing wrong with the bump.

Even Richmond hater Tony Shaw agreed on the coverage.

So breaking an opposition player's jaw off the ball is okay yet colliding in a contest where no one gets hurt is given a week (downgraded to a reprimand with an early plea). Che! ???.

The MRP and tribunal decisions are consistently inconsistent  :banghead.

Dwayne Russell made a big stink about it and of course being the Richmond hating scum the AFL are, couldn't help themselves.

The MRP is based on emotions and not on common sense or the truth.

Not sure about that Wayne.

Rising star rules say you must be suspended.

Brownlow rules (you would think they would be consistent) are 100 points in a season so the early plea means he hasn't been suspended and is under 100 points.

Presume you're talking about the Kennedy hit on Sylvia.

The one I'm incensed about is the Leigh Brown hit on Riewoldt behind play on Friday.
Behind play, intentional conduct, high contact and severe impact. Not even a reprimand.
While everybody was looking at Malthouse/Milne and Riewoldt's hamstring, the scum have totally gotten away with it, as usual.

Martin free to face Melbourne

Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin is free to play this week after accepting an early guilty plea on a rough conduct charge.

Martin was charged with a Level One bumping or making forceful contact from front-on offence against Josh Kennedy, Sydney Swans, during the second quarter of the match against the Sydney Swans last Saturday night.

He will carry 93.75 points towards his future record, can still be nominated for Rising Star award, but will be ineligible to win it.

The incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction.

The early plea reduced the sanction by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.

Martin has been one of the shining lights for the Tigers so far in 2010, averaging 20 possessions per game.

Fair enough mate.

It is the number of demerit points before the guilty plea then.

Does this work the same way for the Brownlow? I thought a reprimand didn't disqualify you from winning Charlie.

It seems an anomaly that Martin is still eligible to be nominated for the Rising Star but can't win it. Why would the judges even bother nominating him now knowing he can't win it.

I suppose it's a bit like umpires awarding Brownlow votes to players who are already ineligible to win.
