Walls just said this on 3aw.
What club would tolerate a situation where the senior coach (Walls) and the football manager (Waldron) weren't on speaking terms :-X.
Geez I wonder why everything went pear-shaped post-95 :P.
-
I met a few yrs back a player that played briefly during the Northey/walls era..when I asked what the diff was when walls took over he mentioned a POOR communicator...Only really got to know the name players in Campbell, richo , Kellaway and co, barely speaking to anyone else on the list...Not suprised at the ex school teacher arrogance :lol

Well if you talk to players who arent playing when they think they should be im not surprised that some are saying that Hardwick isnt a flash communicator. From what I see, Hardwick has done everything right, giving kids a chance, playing the youngsters, sacking 14 blokes etc etc. I take with a grain of salt these type of criticisms, especially if they are coming from players who are not playing.

I mean between Cameron and Hardwick, not the players

Craig Cameron hasnt done anything as yet to show us hes the real deal in his job. Neil Balme should have been chased for this particular job anyway.

IMO if hardwick doesn't make it, it will be due to decisions like holding onto Cameron.
Dimma has done all the right things so far that was asked, but why on earth would he hold onto Cameron.
Cameron was millers sidekick in the Wallace era. This man was instrumental in recruiting guys lime Thompson, hislop and co.
It was a big mistake holding onto him when you had balmy and Scotty Clayton there for the taking.
You might find the current situation aint real flash either

he just plays the political game down there.
Worse than Miller if thats possible :banghead

If there are differences in philosophy between Hardwick and Cameron then Cameron should be out.

Ramps, you might disagree with this.
But we should of chased Balme and thrown a bucket load of money at MARK WILLIAMS.
They did speak to him and thats it.
Mark Williams is a great coach and the task at hand at PUNT RD is way too hard for a young inexperienced coach.
We need a coach who will stand up to the board and knobs like Cameron, not vice versa , as is now the case.

there is.
Also between March and Cameron, interesting hey

tbh Neil Balme is grossly overrated, him and Kleiman were almost strung up at the end of his Collingwood tenure following one Tarrant escapade too many, certainly landed on his feet arriving at the Cattery smack bang in the middle of a Golden era...we could argue all day on his influence but I'd suggest little more than the chief property steward :lol

Success follows Neil Balme, was at Melbourne when they played in their recent GF, went to Collingwood and they played in 2 GFs, moved to Geelong when they were treading water and they played in 3 GFs and won 2.

ur a mate jak but geez u talk poo.
Walls is a megolamaniac who taught a former player discipline by making him stand in the middle of a circle while his team-mates punched the crap out of him,
The guy has issues over it to this day.
Walls' picture in the dictionary appears beside the first meaning of the word,"dog"
I dont blame anyone, let alone waldron for not taling to him...besides,Walls got the ars,not Brian.

Why ?
We have been absolute garbage for years and you people saying we are on the right track.
FACTS are, we will struggle to win a game this year and the way the club has managed and handled players this year is nothing short of a disgrace.
I will also say everything that Caro has written in recent weeks is correct.
Cameron is a real issue
-
name one example on the mismanagement of players, err suspending Cuzz for hadning out prescription medication, or suspending Connors for being legless :lol...yeah shocking
-

Mate, I told you the truth , you would bag the crap out of me, so whats the point.
Both players you have mentioned would of been banned for the entire season if it was any other club :banghead
Mate, you have a short memory! Cousins wasnt in hospital for a headache you clown
And Connors , dont go there

I could name far worse behaviour violations...err, howzabout young Hurley kicking the $%#$% out of a cab driver just for starters, ummm the Blooze Cruze....ummm, like the one about Dane Swan beating a guy to a pulp..or maybe renoufs affray atthe geebung...but if none of them stack up partner howzabout Stokes on drug trafficiking charges
hmmm, me thinks that connors geeting a little woozy on the booze, pails into insignificance to all that but hey, maybe Im just a little crazy :lol

It impacts the team when you have players who continually dont take notice.
Connors and Cousins have had plenty of warnings

So did Brendan Fevola
Cousins will retire at the end of the year and Connors will be gone too if he doesn't make the most of this lesson.
We're only in Round 5 so how about we use the rest of the season to try and make the most of rehabilitation
-
cause we are a football club, not a rehab clinic

When I ever heard Waldron on SEN he sounded like a total and utter boofhead. Totally full of himself, no wonder he stuffed up the Storm. Started believing his own press.

Walls has alot to answer for. He was rubbish as a coach. Should have kept Northey. Only Walls could have stuffed up such a talented team as the one we had in 96.

I agree Walls was a dud and I think he admitted later that he was past it when he took up the Richmond job, he just didn't realize it at the time. We all think we're invincible but age catches up to all of us.
-
The Walls appointment was the worst thing we could've done at that time after making finals.
Club has never recovered.
Walls is a sensationalist drama queen who jumps on every bandwagon and claims to have picked a teams rise and fall. He is a turncoat and a fraud.
-
without getting into specifics how common are spats like that at AFL clubs?
Do the players really want to play for each other or would some rather poke out the eyes of another.
i remember hearing many years ago kevin sheedy say how he never got on with royce hart but was just in awe of his ability

Elevating Polak on to the Senior List.
PS I've got more if you want.

While I agree it was the wrong decision and I thought that Gourdis should have been elevated after his performance on Lance Franklin in the NAB Cup, we had to make a decision prior to Round 1 on the rookies we would nominate in place of veterans. Other than Gourdis (and he wasn't exactly demanding elevation with his form), no one else had really put their hand up.
The idea of having Polak as a bigger body to straighten up or forward line I think was sound, however obviously he has plateued or dropped in form and not demanded a spot.

I have more as well, but whats the point, havent got the the time to list them all down
-
Infamy, you've sort of gone around the point.
The important point here, as referred to by others previously, is that Cameron is making decisions on the playing list, that are at odds with the match committee.
This has been going on since before the trade period, throughout the draft periods and through the period before the season. Is it still happening and will it influence who we put on the LTIL and who is elevated mid-season?
While Cameron as LIST MANAGER has the right to make these decisions, to do so against the advice of the match committee through the season, simply creates problems for unity within the football department.
Cameron should cede the List Manager position to Hartley (who was recruited for this very job) as soon as possible because these decisions (LTIL, mid-year elevation) are now upon us.
Taylor is looking like a possible LTIL.
Mid year elevation is only five or six weeks away.
Do we want another situation where the List Manager elevates a player that the Match Committee won't play?
It is obvious that Cameron, Campbell and Jackson made the decisions on Polak and ignored the long term planning of the match committee, to give the younger ones a big chance to develop.
-

not sure that fits into the mismanagement of players there partner, what next using JR in the backline on sun night :lol...fair dinkum some of you guys will try anything on for size

I think you're having a massive over reaction. We HAD TO make the call before Round 1 on who we would elevate in place of our veterans. Other than Gourdis showing a couple of positive signs, no one really put their hand up, so they elevated both the mature rookies.
-
If there are differences in philosophy between Hardwick and Cameron then Cameron should be out.
there is.
Also between March and Cameron, interesting hey
And you got this earth shattering piece of gossip from where this time?
Give me a break - you cannot really be serious
So let me get this straight outside of everyone at the club being liars am I to now believe we have a club of Oscar calibre actors as well?
Because we certainly must have because the 2 you mention above were at Craigieburn on Saturday together talking for the entire game. But based on your gossip they must be bloody brillant actors ::)

I'll try and make this as simple as possible for you.
Management of players involves who is on or off your playing list.
Elevating players from rookie to senior allows them to play for the RFC.
As said in my last post, elevating Polak is not as important as the point that the senior coach did'nt want the player elevated.
-

"we", "they"?
Richmond as a club had to make the decision on elevations.
Cameron elevated both the mature rookies.
As I have pointed out, by his actions Hardwick has shown that he does not agree with that Decision.
You call it a massive over reaction, I worry about the senior coach wanting to fast track young players being hamstrung by the List Manager not allowing him to play them.

No I didn't turn anything around. Just basing my comments on historical evidence
I asked Jack on another thread (one of the Cousins' ones IIRC) if everyone at the Club was lying he said YES
He has now implied that there are problems between the President and the Footy Chief - all I've raised is they must be good actors becasue they hide their "differences" so very well ;D

What was the alternative? Elevate rookies who had shown nothing and weren't ready and be stuck with them on the senior list for the rest of the year? By elevating the mature rookies we had some bigger bodies to throw in for senior games if required. Gourdis is the only unlucky one and he can get elevated in a few weeks even without a long term injury. Contin has only just made it into Coburg Seniors, Hicks is too light, O'Reilly is still learning how to play AFL.
Even with the benefit of hindsight, who should have been given the nod instead?
-

FYI

Edit: Now understand you were talking about - the first "he" is Jackstar while the second "he" is Ramps.
To get to your (and Ramps) point, you seem to believe that the President and Football Manager cannot socialise if they disagree about the philosophy behind the playing list.
Think that's a pretty naive viewpoint but do think that something has got to give if the List Manager and Match committee are too far apart in their ideas about the list.
-

What was the alternative? Elevate a key position player that the match committee may have wanted to play - unlike Polak who they clearly don't want.
Elevate Rookies who have shown nothing? Unlike Polak who has shown what over three years and most pertinently this pre-season?
Be stuck with them for the rest of the year? Do you seriously think Polak is a better bet than Gourdis thru this year and INTO THE FUTURE?
Bigger bodies? Polak 193cm 93kg Gourdis 193cm 93kg
Elevated in a few weeks? After 11 rounds of competition we will have a player who could have replaced Thursfield and McGuane already, remember against Melbourne?
With or without the benefit of hindsight Gourdis was a better bet and has been on our list for two years already.
