I reckon that the 2007 list would defeat the 2010 list, but 2010 has more 'upside'.

That said, it isn't clear how much potential is in the list and its going to take a spectacular effort to build it into a regular finals team. And even if we do that some very good recruiting to turn it into a genuine flag contender.

that 2010 side is pretty horrible
taking out martin, cotchin & tambling and the side looks pretty vagrant.

eugh, we are such a long way from being anything other than pathetic, as the year goes on im getting more and more despondent about it all.

I can't imagine how this playing list gets up week to week, knowing whats coming. Hopefully they are spurred on over the next weeks by some better oppertunities to win.

2010:

Geelong Attribute Richmond
188.3cm Height 187.0cm
91.1kg Weight 82.7kg
26yr 3mth Age 23yr 7mth
111.7 Games 64.1

Take out Simmonds & Cousins and the average age of the Richmond 22 would be v young

We are going to have to be very patient. The 2010 side is a very young side. Youth is on its side. At least since 2007 we have recruited some key position players. But having said that by years end there will be another significant cull of the list

we have too many of the same type of players. We cant build a list with what we currently have got. Another 12-15 need to go.

watching this 2001 replay we had a list skinny list even back then.  :banghead :banghead :banghead Fiora, Holland, D Bourke

Although 2007 would beat the current 2010 side the upside is this.

Veterans were the better players in 2007

Young players are the better players in the 2010, players who can still be at the club 5 years from now.
Plus Wallace is no longer coaching. Clearly better off now.

Furthermore this years wooden spoon is expected and we are preparing and acting accordingly.
2007's wooden spoon although expected after about round 4 and especially the rd 6 debacle against the Cats was not on the horizon for many after we finished 11-11 the year before  and some were even saying we might be a silly chance to squeeze into the 8. How wrong we were with no game plan and a coach who was there for a five year plan of stacking his bank balance and selling us a message of hope but giving us a dose of false hysteria. Club Coach and the List clearly better off in 2010.

That weight difference is huge.  You'd hope it just relates to age and not training but Ive always thought we were a bit skinny.

3 Years x 3kg weight gain per player per preseason would make up the difference
