Dimma after the game:
* Too many turnovers coming out of defence. Blamed our lack of run.
* Asked why did our contested possies fall away? Dimma replied if I knew that I would've turned the game. We just didn't get our hands on the footy.
* We had 76 tackles. Hardwick said footy is pushing towards 100 tackles whereas in his day it was only 30 tackles per game.
* Crows went inside 50 14 more times than us in the last quarter. We couldn't get our hands on the footy at centre bounces.
* We missed a couple of easy shots early. It goes through the side and stops us putting scoreboard pressure on them.
* Drop off was mental rather than physical. Voice dropped away in the last. Could tell that from the coaches box. Will talk to the leadership group about rectifying that.
* I think Dimma said Cuz pulled up okay this morning but it was too great a risk

What about the pathetic kicks ins Dimma ?
What about our players standing behind there direct opponent at stoppages.
No wonder we got beat by 50 points. :banghead

Tambling going backwards
Kickins to Crows ruck & 2 on 1 hot
wasting energy going sideways & backwards, short who teaches this rubbish

I thought that Adelaide came out after half time going much harder at the contests. It seemed only a matter of time before our kids would lose it mentally. There's only so long that you can keep it together when you are being battered by bigger bodies. A team only needs two or three of the 18 on the ground to drop off and the flood gates open. The writing was on the wall half way through the third.
Not surprised at the result. Need another two pre seasons to catch up with the competition size-wise.

Hey Monk, we must watch a different match to some on here.
tonight was a disgrace
Hardwick has no idea

No we all seen it and think it was utter crap, it is just that most see the players in the side as the problem where you are convinced it is a coach into his first seven weeks of his appointment.
You thought we were going to surprise this year, you thought we would beat the dogs, you have no idea of how bad this side is. Your unrealistic expectations show you up for the fool that you are.

this
we have no genuine kpd
we have one young kpf but nothing else
we have 4 quality midfielders , one has been injured most of the year , one has limited pre season and no where near afl fit, a first year player and a 32 year old struggling for fitness
and past his best..
no established ruckman
little skill in the back half hence lids being moved there..
a lot of kids with limited fitness making it hard to run out games..
after 5 years of a loose attacking game plan we are trying to teach our players a more defensive style..
most other coaches would be doing no better..perhaps a few would have us marginally more compettive but thats about it

You worked there 4 years ago for a completely different coach with completely different staff
Hardly in an influential role either, your opinion of your contribution is greatly over exagerated

Tigers need elder statesmen: Hardwick
richmondfc.com.au
By James Bartold
9:30 PM Sun 09 May, 2010
THE CROWS' elder statesmen proved the difference between the teams on Sunday afternoon, and Richmond coach Damien Hardwick knows his side needs to fill this void.
After a 50-point loss against Adelaide that left the Tigers the competition's only winless team, Hardwick said it was the opposition’s maturity that sealed his side’s defeat.
“Adelaide to their credit had really good players that stood up,” he said. “I thought McLeod and Goodwin were outstanding in the last quarter.
“We are looking to develop those long career players who can drive us to continued success.”
Hardwick blamed a lack of poise for his club’s last quarter fade-out, with Adelaide kicking the last eight goals as the game blew out to an unflattering margin.
“I thought our composure was poor about halfway through the third quarter and particularly in the last," Hardwick said.
"Mentally I thought our boys switched off and thought someone else was going to do it."
Trent Cotchin (18 disposals and six tackles) fought hard all day for the Tigers after returning to the team from a leg injury, and Robin Nahas (two goals and one assist) showed glimpses of brilliance.
The Tigers were wasteful in front of goal in the third term, missing five opportunities to pressure Adelaide on the scoreboard.
“We had some really good chances inside 50 from tackling pressure but couldn’t capitalise,” Hardwick said.
Hardwick said he felt confident approaching the final term that his side could still win the match.
“I thought we were in really good shape as Adelaide’s last quarters haven’t been great,” he said.
Mitch Farmer was a late exclusion with a virus but should be fit to face Hawthorn at the MCG next week.

The criticism of Hardwick is embarrassing.
The expectations are for him to come in and fix problems from day 1. The issues from the kick ins have been addressed, tried and clearly have failed for the past 2 weeks. Back to the drawing board and the proof will be in the pudding how we go about Plan B to try and fix the poor kick ins.
I've heard that just because the club appoints Hardwick doesn't make it right, well it's full circle. Just because Hardwicks first remedy to the problem has failed doesn't make him a failure.
-
I cannot understand the fuss that after 7 games a coach is being criticised on having no plans. Way too early to come up with such tripe on a team that for the most part has players who are substandard.

You haven't worked there for how long is it now? 4 Years?
So how would you know what the place is like on the "inside"? You are not there, so how would you seriously know?
Unless of course one of the gutless leaks at the club is feeding you with their vitirol
And BTW in YHO we were a discgrace yesterday for what the entire game, the last 15 minutes or what?
Calling for a coashes head 7 weeks into a season give me a break
-
you tell me who is in charge of the game plan, if there is one :banghead
Continual kickins to contests 2 weeks in a row, to opposition ruckman I might add ? Who is to blame for that ?
The waterboys ?
And who is to blame for players standing behind opponents and centre bounces and stoppages ? the waterboys ? Nah ,
Someone is to blame.
Pathetic effort yesterday.
Adelaide were terrible for 3 quarters, they play one quarter and beat us by 50 points.
As anyone ever thought that the people in charge at Punt Rd actually know what they are doing ????

And what's funniest is that those criticizing him already are those that were fully "supportive" and "understanding" at his appointment last year, of the amount of time it will take to rebuild the list and the club. Short memories and even shorter attention spans. ::)

agree 100% - looks like some just want to stick the knife in just for the fun of it all. Our club is going to the dogs and we this level of disgraceful disunity. Its not on. People are with us or they can stuff off!

Excuse me, I wasnt.
I wanted a senior coach who knew what they were doing.
Not a coach on ""L "" plates.
What if, Hardwick aint a good coach ?
Jury is out at present.

We win and lose as a team.
If you need to blame someone you can stretch a long bow
The kick ins:
The kicker
The players making options
The defensive coach
The head coach
If we won we wouldn't have gone over the top crazy how good hardwick is, but how gutsy the team was.
Difference in our last qtr is we couldn't keep our intensity up. No new amazing game plan can fix that

Jack you wanted Sheedy for all your own interests and nothing else! You thought you would be a chance to get a job again if Sheedy got the gig.
He didnt get it so let it be, it is embarassing your constant bagging of Hardwick all because of your own interests.
For everyone else on here why dodnt you give an insight into what it was you actually did at RFC for a small time and then also detail your qualifications for being such a know it all on todays football.
And dont mention being a trotting driver or a swimming pool life guard!!!!!!!!!

The jury was still out on Dean Bailey after round 1 this year, 2 years after he was appointed. Now he looks like a genius.
Although the rewards aren't there like in the past and as much as I don't like seeing us lose, we need pick 4 this year and pick 4 and 6 next year.

we mixed it with the crows for 3 quarters
they are a much bigger and experienced unit than us but for 3/4 we mixed it with them and went toe to toe
they we switched on bec there was no way they were gonna let us beat them and they were only poor in that time because our game plan forced them to be poor. i thought that hardwick coached them quite well and we had no ruck all day
then in the last quarter , the tanking for pick 4 and the PP began, hardwick is coaching us for the future not for today.
Edwards is gonna be a dynamite midfeilder just like his dad, he has shut a few of his critics up but his pace and evasive skills are important to our midfield and he definately knows how to break the lines, next yr he will be even more thicker in the hips and thighs and will thrive even more with cotch and martin around him. titch is a better player than foley, foley is the one we ned to get back in and made to look good so we can trade him.
we threw the towel in in the last bec we could not afford to win as we want that PP and 16th spot. next week we can win and maintain our 16th position and i bet we do win. we will win 3-4 games for the yr, and hardwick knows when and where to win them to keep that pick 4 and PP with us
this yr we must stop our whinging and just watch the kids cos its not about winning at all its about abusing the system as the blues and demons have done

you cant be serious?
we did not tank that last quarter. tell me what signs did you see that we tanked. Was jack moved sent to the bench alongside Lids. UUM No
Believe me mate we have pick 4 sewn up and in the bag. no question about that. Dimma wants a win because no coach no matter how long you they been coaching for wants to go through a season winless.
we were not good enough its as simple as that and it was left to the same players flying the flag for us and yes Lids was one of them. Edwards another, Nahas, and Tuck.
the rest can get fu.cked including Jackson who is not a footballer. he is a poor excuse for a tagger also.
In fact its laughable how we claim his as being our 'tagger"
-
jackson is one of about 7 players who should be playing VFL standard only...1 or 2 would do ok in the amateurs - its diabolical we have so many average footballers
-

Agree, I have all the time in the world for Hardwick and he is heading in the right direction, he has not been phased, but he has a challenge... great challenge... ;D ahead of him and I take my hat of to the way he has handled himself. There is a game plan there and you can see it, once our players have the skill or once we have players with the skill and fitness to match I think we will play one of the most exciting brands of football around. We saw glimpses of it yesterday until 15 minutes into the last qtr when our boys ran out of legs.
-
Pathetic effort yesterday.
Adelaide were terrible for 3 quarters, they play one quarter and beat us by 50 points.
Pathetic? You are kidding
Can you take off your anti-RFC glasses for one mini second and actually consider that the reason Adelaide were so terrible for 3 quarters was becuase of the pressure they were put under by the opposition? Are you saying they couldn't have possible been crap because they couldn't handle the pressure from an under 23 team?
Give some credit where is due for goodness sake.
Yes the last 20 odd minutes was terrible but the first 3 quarters was the most intense tackling I've seen from a Richmond side in a long long time. And considering we are the worst tackling team in the competition that is a bloody good sign.
I was there and there were some very good signs. No doubt there are alot of things that need massive improvement.
But sadly it would seem you don't want to see any form of improvement in anything that is happening
As anyone ever thought that the people in charge at Punt Rd actually know what they are doing ????
:-\ :-\
Er YEAH I have ;D

no question best tackling i have seen in years. What i cant understand is why should it not be at this level every week, especially from players who have been in the system for years.
This is nothing that can be taught and is all played between the ears. Our players in most games dont want to tackle or chase.
