Positives from tonight's game?

After the first 20 mins of sleeptime we at least matched them on the scoreboard and played the game out when the margin could have blown out to 10 goal plus.

Riewoldt and Webberley.  Not much else, I'm afraid.  We really missed Jackson.  We need taller players in the team.

Lids was fantastic in the first half I thought
Was moved into the guts and helps us get back in to the game.

Great game by Riewoldt too. Still doing the show pony things with too many attempted one handed marks and a couple of goals in junk time, but it was still a great game. He's having his break out year.

I thought our kicks in showed a huge improvement. Not once did we bomb the ball to teh boundary line with Hill or Ryder waiting to pick off a poor tactic of ours.

As members you cant ask much more of Hardwick to experiment and try new things. When things dont work then try something different. Hats off in my book.

We're not good enough to win games but all you can ask if for the coaching staff to try everything in the book to find something that works and its evident they are doing so.

Another fantastic game by Jack Riewolt.10 goals in the last 2 weeks.

Brett Deledio almost single handedly brought us back into the match.(in the first half)

Highest score of the year.

what did you guys think of McGuanes game tonight..i notice people around me applauded his game .However I thought ordinary would be the word i was looking for.he seems to be a metre or so constantly behind his man and then has to stretch to spoil.he also seems to make the wrong decision far too many times .And his kicking skills coming out of defence seem to create problems for us rather than open up the play.

McGuane's game was the same as always. He's ponderously slow in mind and body, deplorable by hand and foot, and is too short and skinny to play centre half-back. Do you remember when the ball was switched to him to escape at the Ponsford End, and he took the mark and played on despite being completely surrounded? Oh yeah, did I mention he has absolutely no awareness or poise at all? As long as he's in the side (among many others, I aint singling him out) we will be anchored to the bottom for all eternity.

At the 20 minute mark of the first quarter we were 43 points down, yet only lost by 35. except for a diabolical 15 minute lapse we matched them on the scoreboard.

Kept his man to one goal, so did his job
It was the Essendon smalls that killed us

Isn't it funny than we are constantly cut up by opposition small lightweight players yet some complain about players like nason being too small

Jeremy Webberley
Jack Riewoldt
Brett Deledio
Trent Cotchin

Angus Graham also looked okay in patches too.
Highest score of the season.

When 53 down in the last Essendon took the foot off and we kicked some junk time goals. 35 pints was not a fair reflection of how far behind we actually were. Essendon did kick 10 15 since they were 9.1 and 26 points in front of us in the second quarter. Margin could have been a lot greater. Very lucky to lose by 35 points IMHO.

True, tucker, but in the previous couple of years we probably would have been 70 odd points down when Essendon took their foot off the pedal, by which stage we would have lost all semblance of fight and not been able to take advantage and kick those goals

Good points Tuckerbag and Al. Thought Tuck was okay. Very disappointing game. Thought we had some hope against Essendon. Don't rate Essendon that highly but they comfortably beat us. Desparately need a ruckman who can take a contested mark. Not the first time this year beaten badly in the ruck won't be the last either. Does White have a future at richmond? what do people think?

I dont think White is a long termer but he will survive this year's cull because he isn't in the worst ten and that is a sad state of affairs indeed

Sorry?  That's his only job?  A strangely a shallow view on a backman's responsibility.

He was deplorable out of defense and through his own doing gave Essendon far more than 1 goal due to his brainfades and turnovers.

Should be dropped, was a disgrace and looked disinterested.

They wouldn't have been anywhere near that much in front in the first place if the game had been umpired fairly.

Regardless of the quality of officiating yesterday we were lucky not to lose a 10 goal loss. In the final analysis the umpiring although unfavourable was not as influential as some of our efforts errors and turnovers in the match. I can't agree wholly with that Smokey. We were poor last night for the most part. Clearly had a huge let down from the match the week before.

Lids - leads by example
Martin - star in the making
Jack - love to see him on a third defender one day
Cotchin - should learn alot from this game.

Riewoldt.
Martin - crushes through packs.
Cotchin - in and under work.
Highest Score.
Nearly kicked over 100 points.
Matthew White - he has pace and needs to learn to keep using it!
Graham - 35% taps to advantage and getting more football and ... played two above average matches in a row!

the hot chips I got at the start of the game were nice
The little kids next to me who kept imitating me and my mate when we arced up had me laughing.

I have to say I don't think the Jake King return worked and I am not sure what the point of playing him is I don't see any upside other than he can tackle.

Forgot to mention I was very impressed with Webberley.
