Title: Mitch Farmer cops a reprimand from the MRP
Post by: one-eyed on May 24, 2010, 05:30:15 PM
Mitch Farmer, Richmond, has been charged with a Level Two striking offence against Michael Hurley, Essendon, during the first quarter of the Round Nine match between Richmond and Essendon, played at the MCG on Saturday May 22, 2010.

In summary, he accept a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record with an early plea.

The incident was assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to a reprimand and 93.75 points towards his future record.

Contact between Richmond’s Jack Riewoldt and Essendon’s Tayte Pears from the first quarter of Saturday’s match was assessed. The panel said the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

You've got to love the MRP. So putting someone in a headlock after being provoked is worth just a fine yet a slight headbutt after being provoked is worth 3 weeks. Go figure! :-\

Is this the 3rd or 4th week we've had a player cop something from the MRP? Either we've been unlucky compared to other clubs or we're living up to Dimma's message of not caring about giving away frees and suspensions.

yeah, id much rather get the love tap that Jackson gave Brown than put in a headlock like Hall did to Thompson. Thompson thoroughly deserved what he got though. Hall should have offered to settle it after the game.

They seem to have decided it's easier to not suspend Hall and thus deal the whole episode of cheap snipes when players know there will be no real opposition.

The message from the AFL is load and clear. It is OK to bump someone when they are doing up their laces, even when the ball is not within 5 meters.

I agree al they've put Hall into the too hard basket. The doggies of all clubs though can't complain about cheap shots off the ball as they haven't been known as the scraggers all these years for nothing. When Plough was their coach they turned it into an artform.

Not really, they've admitted that should have been a free kick to Hall, but the umpire was looking the other way by focussing on a stoppage

Consistency. Next week kicking to the head will be a reprimand whilst tapping someone on the back will be a lengthy suspension. Kudos to Adrian Anderson he's developed a system nobody understands.

I get the feeling he'll play against his old side this week regardless of his poor game on Sat night.

Surely this guy wont get picked this week!

Disgraceful effort if he does as we will be playing with one less man.
