Not many RFC players in the starting 18 ???. It looks like a 12/10 rule but that rule doesn't apply against Bendigo.
I think Duhau is a TAC Cup kid (?). If he is then Coburg will have 5 on the bench. So that means two RFC guys will be in the ressies. I don't see the point of Jordie with his papers stamped playing ahead of one of our cubs but presumably two of Hicks, Contin and Roberts will play VFL ressies :-\.
-
Browne in the seconds....
I'd go with the firsts - that's where he will play :thumbsup
-
Coburg vs Bendigo will be broadcasted live on VFL Radio this Sunday - www.vfl.com.au
-
Coburg ressies came from behind at 3/4 time to win by 12 points.

Is he the ex-basketballer?
It would be great if he progressed into Senior ranks.
:thumbsup
-
Still very raw is Westy, if he maintained some form he may get a game towards the end of the season.
He is a bit of a project player i would think.
-

:thumbsup
He was selected to play for the U18 basketball side, but pretty sure he played more AFL as a junior than Dae did, the other baseketballer

I went to the game at Vic Park today. Coburg looked gone for all money at half time, four goals down in a low-scoring game. But as with Richmond last week, when the rain came down in the second half thay went up a couple of notches.
Very impressed with Grimes at stuff. He reads the play well, contests hard, is cool and composed in heavy traffic, and his kicks always hit a target.
Once he fills out a bit he'll be a definite upgrade on McGuane.
Westhoff too was very impressive, a strong mark, good shot at goal, and even ran back to help in defence when Sandy were pushing hard late in the last quarter.
Somebody who wasn't mentioned in the post-match write up was Alroy Gilligan, who is very quick and elusive, and a smart user of the ball through the middle/half forward.
Contin I thought made a number of silly mistakes today. But the sheer amount of the ball he won probably made up for it.

1st one on the board for tigers

miss to Polak 1-2-8 coburg 0-1-1 bendigo

Cheers Suffered :thumbsup
Started well and using the ball well :o.

Good to hear Grimes doing well. If he comes on then that gives the club an option to try and trade out 1 or 2 of the current players playing in those positions.
-
Lawton had 3 or 4 grabs at it in difficult conditions but wasn't paid. Didn't matter as Carnell snaps a goal from 20m :gotigers

The dud Quinn levels it up.
15 - 15

50m against Polo or for backchat by Jordie towards the ump gifts Quinn another goal.
And then out of centre Bendigo get another

Rance gives away a 50m this time throwing Reimers to the ground after giving away the free.

Coburg 2.3-15
Bendigo 5.3-33
Goals: Puselli, Carnell

Coburg came out of the blocks early on and got our game going. Polak up forward provided a target and Carnell under the pack. However as the game post-18 min mark went on Bendigo's experience showed and Coburg became very undisciplined.
There's a 4-5 goal breeze.
-
Newitt said he's pretty happy where we are at ???. Said a couple of undisciplined acts cost us a couple of goals.
-
Coburg player falls over in defence as the handpass was being delivered and Bendigo get gifted another goal.
15 - 39

ugly 45 -15

goal to polak playing well not many mates 21-45

Sounds like Post has been pushed forward. Good luck given the way we've moved the footy.
Hicks making his VFL Senior debut. First time I've heard his name mentioned and that was a free against.
Rance's defensive work has been good but his disposal iffy.
Polak, Polo and McMahon our best 3 players so far they're saying.
Roberts crumbs but misses

Yep Coburg dominated the last 15 minutes. Could've been even closer if we took all our chances. Small forwards Taylor, Hicks and Roberts coming into the game where before then our forward line was dysfunctional. It helps when you move the ball direct and quickly rather than having 8 possessions to get the ball out of defence then go wide and sideways as Coburg were doing.
-
yep showing signs that quarter! sounded like the discipline improved also!

Vickery taps to Thomson hands to Puselli who hits Taylor on the lead. Goal :gotigers

Jordie saying we wanted to play 4 quarters today after a disappointing past 3-4 weeks. It was a solid effort today. Backline really shut down their forwards and thanks go to our mids and forwards' pressure. Polak was great.

Final Score
Coburg 2.3 5.6 8.10 13.12-90
Bendigo 5.3 7.3 9.7 10.15-75

-
Commentators bests: Polak (BOG), Carnell, McMahon, Kadhlefelt, Puselli, Clifton, Taylor, Roberts. A great team effort.
Our small players dominated from midway thru 2nd quarter onwards - Roberts, Hicks, Taylor (commentators would go ape everytime Troy got the ball).
Commentators saying we've got Gold Coast and Werribee in the next two weeks so potential wins there for Coburg and not out of the finals race yet if we can get to 4-6 after those two games.
-
Final Score
Coburg 2.3 5.6 8.10 13.12-90
Bendigo 5.3 7.3 9.7 10.15-75
Goals: Hicks 3, Carnell 2, Post 2, Puselli 2, Polak, Roberts, Taylor, Clifton
I really believe we have a player in Hicks, he features in the best every game he plays...that's a terrific sign. Needs to add a stone in weight to that nimble stuff forward to seeing him break out in 2011

You never know what could happen Ramps, would depend on what happens with the playing list in the later half of the year. Jimmy shows great agility and is very physical and hard at it. His skills look fairly good and he is a ripping bloke. Really works hard and wants to learn as much as he can.
It was a fantastic job today on Houli.

Dea is a slight worry. I'm hoping he is just struggling because of his predominant basket ball background.
-
I'm amazed at the relative success of the last draft. I think it is as much to do with the education and development these players are recieving as to their previous ability. Every player has shown something this year which is the first I can remember this occuring since, well, ever. Dea will come good after more work with the coaches. I am particularly impressed my Leppitch's work with our KPP!

Very cold day at Windy Hill today
There were some good signs from some of our kids today
I really enjoyed Taylor's game just has fantasic skills and a great ability to read the game. I'd seriously look at bringing him in next week
Thought Polly was good just gave a fantastic contest everytime he was near the ball. If he wasn't marking it held bring to ground
Rance was the best of the RFC boys for mine. Played across the back half
Interesting about Jordie; I thought his first qtr and a half was ordinary (like Coburg's) and then he really got into the game. Wanted to throttle him iwth one of his kickouts int he final qtr when off 1 step he kicked it striagh to the opposition - thank goodness they couldn't kick a goal to save themselves in the final qtr
Hicks - kicked a couple of good crumbers goals but gee he is tiny as a result got pushed off a lot contests very easily and couldn't really land a tackle. Foot skills good though.
Post - kicked a couple of nice long goals but that was about it
Jimmy the Irishman - need to keep playing this kid - he is a great to watch - just gets better every game. Love the ways he attacks the footy but the pleasing thing is he can play as an inside or outside mid
Thommo - fair - hardly notcied him in the first half
Gourdis - solid
Relton - solid
Polo - poor first qtr, solid 2nd, very good 3rd and very good 4th
BrownE - another solid game, took a couple of contested marksa around the ground which was good to see. Deserves another shot at AFL footy I reckon
-
And BTW was there any word on the wireless as to why Connors didn't play?
He was at the game watching (sat a few rows behind me)
-
WP Only goal by a Bendgo key forward was Neagle, Gourdis seems to hold most opponents to a minimum, can he do that at AFL level and has he done enough to warrant elevation

Only the second Burgers game i been to this year and have to say that Taylor is a beauty. Must see him play to realise how good he can be. He seems to have all the time in the world when he has the ball in his hands. He must come in at the expense of Nahas or Nason. One or both have to go back to Coburg.
Dont agree on Polo i watched him closely today and on about 3 occasions when it was his turn to go to a contest he looked up and backed off. POOR!!! yes he got the odd kick here or there but weak elsewhere.
Interesting about Mclovin apart from that kickout he was actually allright. Directly after that he won a contest in the middle of the ground then handpassed beautifully 20 metres which i think resulted in a Coburg goal. Not enough to get recalled but where was that kind of play when he was playing for Richmond.
not convinced on Roberts. Needs to trim down or something. Disposal not all that convincing either
I wanted to drop into the Bowling club and thank them for pushing those pricks out of there
-
WP or anyone else that went to the game.
Where did Polak play?
If it was forward then he only got the one goal. How come?
If it was back then did he hold his man as it is notable that the bomber tall forwards didn't do much from the best player/goal kicker report?
We played Browne and Vickery as rucks and Bellchambers was named as best for Bombers. If true, who comes up next week?
Will Connors play for Richmond next week - injury?
-
Age report....
Coburg Tigers came from behind to snatch a hard-fought match from the Bendigo Bombers by 15 points at Windy Hill.
The Tigers trailed at every change but rallied with five goals in the final term to win 13.12 (90) to 10.15 (75).
Graham Polak was best on ground with 27 disposals and 11 marks, while Jordan McMahon played his best game of the season with another 30-plus possessions.
''We were rapt with Polly and the way he played. He took a couple of strong marks in the last quarter which was pleasing to see," Tigers development coach and Coburg coach David Newett said.

WP Only goal by a Bendgo key forward was Neagle, Gourdis seems to hold most opponents to a minimum, can he do that at AFL level and has he done enough to warrant elevation
Yeah Neagle's goal came from a Coburg skill turnover when they all rushing forward of the ball which left Neagle unmarked
I think they will promote Gourdis, he deserves a chance at AFL level, how he will go remembering that it is a another big step up in pace etc we will just have to wait and see. But he is certainly playing a lot more team focused and consistent footy this year
Dont agree on Polo i watched him closely today and on about 3 occasions when it was his turn to go to a contest he looked up and backed off. POOR!!! yes he got the odd kick here or there but weak elsewhere.
I do remember 2 of the occasions you mention daniel and I agree it was poor but I thought his attack on the constest in the 3rd in particular was first rate and he carried that over into the 4th.
Where did Polak play?
If it was forward then he only got the one goal. How come?
If it was back then did he hold his man as it is notable that the bomber tall forwards didn't do much from the best player/goal kicker report?
Polak seemed to play every where ;D Actually started deep at FF and then pushed up around CHF with Post remaining at FF. Then as the game went on he roamed around, sometimes he was taking marks down back or on the wing. He seemed to playing the role of hit up CHF playing between the 2 arcs
Will Connors play for Richmond next week - injury?
Very good question - I hav eno idea why he didn't play yesterday. Personally becuase he didn't play yesterday I wouldn't be playing him this week but that's just me and probably means he will come straight back in :P

And BTW was there any word on the wireless as to why Connors didn't play?

Coburg upsets Bendigo
richmondfc.com.au
Mon 07 June, 2010
Richmond’s Graham Polak was best afield as Coburg registered its second win of the season yesterday, upsetting Bendigo at Windy Hill.
Polak collected 27 possessions, 11 marks and a goal in the Tigers’ 15-point win.
Coburg trailed for most of the match after a slow start, but finished with a five-goal last quarter to overrun an experienced Bombers outfit.
“I was rapt for the boys. They’ve worked really hard in the last few weeks and deserved the win,” Tigers’ coach David Newett said.
“We probably struggled early in the first quarter, but once we got it working our way I thought the boys played some really good footy.
“They came at us in the last quarter, but we stood up and kicked some important goals. It was pleasing to see the resilience in the players and the ability to weather the storm.
“Every player contributed to the team, which is what you need to win games.”
Jordan McMahon was among the busiest players on the field with 28 possessions, while Relton Roberts (25), Alex Rance (20) and Adam Thomson (20) were also prolific ball winners.
Richmond rookie Robert Hicks kicked three goals in his first game for the Coburg seniors, while Jayden Post kicked two.
The in-form Daniel Connors was a late withdrawal through injury, but is expected to be fit to play this week as his club-imposed eight-week ban is lifted.
Newett also singled out efforts of defenders David Gourdis and Dean Polo.
The Coburg reserves were also on the winners list on the weekend, defeating Sandringham by 12 points at Victoria Park, with Richmond rookie Nick Westhoff booting five goals.
Coburg returns to Highgate Reserve in Craigieburn this Saturday, June 12, to play the Gold Coast, in what is expected to be the first game of football for rugby league convert Karmichael Hunt.

WP Thanks for the reply on those questions.
-
Westoff could be another forward star. With Jack already there and Griffith, Astbury, Post and Westoff all showing plenty of potential, the competition for Power forward is quickly becoming fiercely contended. :o
With Taylor, Nason, Nahas, Morton, Roberts, White and even Hicks all challenging for the small forward spots, our forwardline could turn from a weakness to a strength very quickly.

i expect that nahas will be the first to slip down the pecking order, with a WATCH on HICKS

Round 8 Match Report
Coburg Tigers website
Reserves
The Reserves went to Victoria Park to meet up with Sandringham who just 5 weeks ago thumped us by over 100 points.
We fielded a much stronger team this time around and we wanted to make sure we had a better performance this time around.
While Sandringham looked dangerous in the 1st qtr they failed to show it on the scoreboard and we went in just 16 points down.
We could only manage to score 3 behinds in the 2nd quarter and it was a very similar margin to when we played them the previous time and they came out and kicked 18 goals to 1 in the 2nd half and the pressure was on us after the major break.
The boys came out and kicked 5 goals to 2 in the 3rd quarter and we went into the final quarter 7 points down.
For the 4th time this season we came from behind to register a win kicking another 5 goals to 2.
Nick Westhoff made light of the wet conditions to kick 5 goals
Pat Contin,Dylan Grimes and Tom Groves all did great jobs in the back line and shut down some of their dangerous players.
Alroy Gilligan’s 2nd half was instrumental in getting us back in the game in conditions that didn’t suit him.
Murphy Ambrose continued his good form in the mid field
Tom Lucin was dangerous around half forward.
Goals: Westhoff 5, Jordon 2, Cattapan, Ambrose, Allan, Lucin,
Seniors
We headed out to a wet and cold Windy Hill on Sunday to meet 2nd on the ladder Bendigo Bombers.
They fielded a very strong team with a lot of AFL/VFL experience and it was going to be a tough day.
The 1st quarter confirmed that,as they had 4 goals on the board before we posted our first major of the day.
We went into the break 3 goals down, but the playing group were still confident.
The 2nd and 3rd quarters were dour struggles and we refused to let Bendigo get away from us and heading into the last quarter we were 3 points down.
We were adamant that we were not going to lose another close game and the boys rallied together to kick 5 goals and walk away with our 2nd win of the year.
Graham Polak was sensational up forward and made the wet conditions look easy with 11 marks and and 27 possessions.
Sam Power was also dominant around the ground with 36 possessions.
Robbie Hicks game in for his first game and being consistent in the Reserves and kicked 3 goals at crucial stages.
Jordan McMahon played his best game of the year and his run from the half back line set up a lot of forward entries.
Relton Roberts was also dangerous and had he had his kicking boots on he could have kicked 4,but he was still an important player to our forward set up.
Dave Gourdis continued his good form and kept Neagle to 1 goal.
Courageous skipper Nick Carnell kicked 2 vital goals
Jamie O’Reilly did a great shut down job on Essendon Rookie Marcus Marigliani
Tasmanian recruit Shane Piuselli also played his best game for us and the Tassie like conditions suited him down to the ground.
Goals: Hicks 3, Post 2, Carnell 2, Piuselli 2, Polak, Taylor, Clifton, Roberts

Thats a really enjoyable video to watch.
Post looks to be moving and jumping really well now.
Taylor did some really silky things as did Roberts.
Hicks also looked good.
Taylor's bump at 11:00 was good. The jumper punches to him after suggests his assault charges are laughable. He didn't look like a guy comfortable with physical confrontation at all.
The burgers song is horrible lol.

First one wasnt a jumper punch your holiness. I think it may have stunned troy a bit.
