Zantuck gone from Tigerland

The Richmond Football Club and the management of Ty Zantuck have come to an amicable agreement to release both parties from the playing and employment contract that Zantuck has with the Club.
The details are subject to a confidentiality agreement, but the end result is that Zantuck will be delisted by the Richmond Football Club and nominate for the AFL’s pre-season draft on December 14.
Zantuck, 22, played 68 senior games with the Tigers after making his senior league debut in 2000.

Hoorah for small mercies :thumbsup

Heard a "newsflash" about this on the way to work. Good work by all.
Hopefully we haven't paid too much. I can't see Ty getting paid elsewhere what he was getting at Richmond. I'd guess that means it's welcome back to Tigerland Steve McKee especially with the new ruck rules and we'll see Ty running around in red + black next year.
I'd reckon the PSD will now go something like this.:
Richmond - McKee
Collingwood - Caracella
Carlton - Knobel
Roos - Picaione (sp?)
Freo - Schofield
Essendon - Zantuck

Wonder where it leaves Justin Blumfield - homeless :help :-\

excellent stuff(up) i mean stuff ;D

Thie is a real shame, while i dont disagree with the end decision to offload Zantuck i think that this will come back and haunt us.
You cant keep people at the club who are tearing the playing group apart.
i have heard that Ty is allegedly shacked up with Jason Moran's former wife.
Bloody Sheedy will turn this kid around and it will Pi^& me off!

arent we all over rating ty a bit too much...
granted he has got some talent but unless he gets his head right, its no use to anyone, bit like his old man great footballer but stuffed in the head....
good riddance i say, let it be someone else's problem...
just wait till he plays us, i bet ya right now he will go straight for the man...
all this gangland poo, god he is liable to get his stuffing head blown off...
good to see the last piece of trash has been put out... :lol

As a result of the settlement with Richmond, Zantuck will be available in the pre-season draft on the base minimum, plus match payments - more than $100,000 cheaper than his now-voided 2005 playing contract.
Richmond football director Greg Miller said Zantuck and the club had agreed yesterday morning to "release each other from their obligations under the contract", enabling the Tigers to delist Zantuck before today's final lodgement of lists.
Zantuck had asked for a trade at season's end, his position made untenable at Punt Road when it emerged that he had a poor relationship with senior players, while coach Terry Wallace was also keen to see him go.
Port coach Mark Williams yesterday confirmed that the club would consider drafting either Zantuck or Blumfield, although the premiers would consider taking the best available youngster in this month's pre-season draft.
"He's certainly someone we'll be looking at," Williams said of Zantuck, who parted company with Richmond yesterday after reaching a financial settlement with the club. Zantuck was contracted for 2005 on a deal that would have resulted in him receiving about $250,000 if he played all games.
Essendon, which failed to trade for Zantuck before the trading deadline, appears to be the other club that is the trouble-prone defender's best hope of continuing his AFL career, his chances boosted by the drop in his price tag. Essendon has a pick before Port Adelaide.

Ty Zantuck would have to have another club alll lined up to go to in the PSD.
I doubt anyone would walk away from a guaranteed contract amount - he aint that stupid ..... :-\ then again :rollin
Even if he spent all of 2005 at Coburg he would have been paid handsomely for it. I still think he'll end up at the Bombers - Sheeds loves these types of players - you know the ones lots of baggage and in need of rescuing :thumbsup ;D
I am glad this mess is now over and he is gone - a disruption to the younger blokes we don't need. Example:
I was watching a game from 2003 on Fox footy -v- Freo at Subiaco. Half way through the last quarter we were only a goal down - Ty had one of his brain explosions gave away a stupid 50m penalty to Medhurst and then an even more stupid free kick after Medhurst kicked the goal - Freo got another goal without the ball being bounced - game over folks >:(
Thanks Ty and bye :thumbsup

If Ty gets picked up by another club, it will be very interesting when he encounters his former teamates that he has managed to put off side. There will be fireworks on the field and the head slamming Ty did on Williams will be nothing in comparison.

Looks like Ty's AFL career is over. According to 3aw it doesn't sound like any other club will pick him up in the PSD.

Yeah I heard Dwayne "there aint no way Terry Wallace will coach Richmond" Russell say that as I wainted in the drive thru queue at KFC on Saturday at about 12.45pm. Did they say anything else about it? Does anyone know?
Because I would be surprised if this wwas true - there has to be someone out there, doesn't there :help

Whether he gets picked up by another club or not it's difficult to see him being in any side's best 22 and if he does manage to get a gig at another AFL club he will survive till the end of 2006 at best.
