From the Age....
Meanwhile, as Richmond prepares to meet Sydney next week with three wins under their belt, Hardwick says the mood at Punt Road has changed.
"I think after the (round eight) Hawthorn game our guys found a standard they were really happy with and have built on that.
"It's amazing, belief in a footy club is such an important factor and confidence within a player is even more so.
"Our group at the moment are going well, we've got a fair way to go but we've made some inroads, there's no doubt."
He said that with back-to-back wins, the Tigers now felt they could compete with most sides.
"I think so. Most sides are like that, you've only got to look at Fremantle - their personnel over the course of 12 months didn't change that much but all of a sudden they've become a top four side," he said.
"To see the emergence of guys like Dustin Martin, the continued improvement of Trent Cotchin, Brett Deledio...Chris Newman's in some outstanding form.
"Some individual performances have been very, very good."

havent seen him this hard at the ball and contest since he first started. I really liked the way he used to bust a nut in the beginning but after a few years he seemed to catch the bowden/pettifer disease of cheating and doing it easy, no gut running, easy short kicks, loose man etc. Has manned up under dimma - find I'm respecting him again.

I have always respected him, as i do anyone who has enough guts to pull on a pair of boots at any level anywhere, but i hear what you are saying! I was not a huge fan of him being made skipper but this year he seems to have developed into a natural leader! I have feeling he did not thrive under TW as he should have but a change of coach has seen him realise his potential as a leader!

Hardwick is always very positive a great to see, it's also funny that from the beginning of his coaching appointment at the RFC he has spoken very highly of Newman while others were happy to bag him.

Hey Ox. Could you do me a favour a change your avatar? Watching someone hurl into a bag every time I read one of your posts isn't my idea of good viewing. Maybe it's my sensitive stomach but I'll have to make sure I don't get on the forum any more after meals :P
