Title: Tambling to Gold Coast BF rumour
Post by: one-eyed on July 21, 2010, 09:02:45 PM
The trade "rumours" have started early this year on BF. Most likely garbage but anyway here it is from the BF Gold Coast board:

Have strong mail from a Richmond insider that he is a done deal for next year to GC.

Wants a fresh start away from all the scrutiny in Melbourne

i think this would be an ideal situation for all parties.

For some reason i feel sorry for Bling, he is a victim of situation and expectation. If he left, thats a big if, i would love to see him tear it up. (not against us of course).

You could not get a fresher start than GC, if they do sign Ablett the attention he will recieve is minimal. I think Tambling still has the potential to be a star, i just can't see it with us. Its been made pretty clear that the expectation has gotten to him throughout his career.

The best rumours have a plausible aspect to them, but im highly sceptical of this one.

The guy is a known BSer.  He made a thread before the Sydney vs Richmond game saying to put your house and life savings on Sydney to win, and that he had.  :lol

I don't care if Ambling was taken at 4 or 400. He's a list-clogger who ambles along beside most contests. Sadly, he probably isn't going anywhere. We have a bad habit of holding onto duds for years hoping they'll come good.

I think that has all changed with the coaching changes.

I think it was WP who said that Hardwick's biggest challenge will not be 2010 but 2011 and that is looking so true at this point.  Next year will tell us whether the culture of the club as a whole has changed or we have just been riding the wave of 'youthful' enthusiasm.  Let's see who 'fronts' up next year and continues to improve, who was a one-year wonder, and whether the new coaching regime are actually creating developmental change.  My money is on the fact that the change is for real but none of us will know for sure until this time next year.

no u have got it all wrong. He is following instructions by Dimma to perform circus acts by jumping up and down in the one spot and making space by running directly into the opposition players area. :banghead :banghead

we have done very well to rid of our club of your JON and Petrified types, sadly for Ritchie he will fall into the same category unless we bite the bullet now and sell him off to the highest bidder.

Ritchie is a late bloomer and will one day be carving up.

I think a late first round draft pick is reasonable for such an exciting prospect.
Failing that we should look at a mid second round draft pick for him.
If we must we should probably then go to an early round third round draft pick.
I suppose if they take McMuppet as well I would consider a fourth rounder

Interesting comments tonight from Hardwick re: the different role they have tried Tambling in this year and how they have decided it hasn't been successful so he is going back to Coburg to the role he played very successfully last year in defence.  Said blame for his form this year was partly player, partly coaching group.  He believes Tambling will be straight back into the senior side in a defensive role.  Won't be going anywhere if he recaptures his form off the hbf of last season.

Been nothing in the papers up here about Tambling.  They're still after Gary Ablett.

Compensation probably wouldn't be too bad given its off a mathematical equation
#4 pick, over 108+ games as a 23 year old, 4th in our B&F last year
Perhaps a 2nd rounder, maybe even a pick at the end of the 1st round.

4th in 1 B&F isn't going to weigh much on the calculations Infamy. I reckon you'd be lucky to get a late 2nd round pick for him.

It's not going to hurt, even the guns of the comp don't always rate highly in their own clubs B&F.
The fact he's still young, an ex #4 pick and has already played over 100 games will mean he won't get a terrible pick as compensation
If it was anything worse than a pick at the start of the 2nd round, I'd rather keep him

I agree with this, I just don't have the same faith as you in the system working fairly.  :P

The fact that compensation is based off a maths formula will work in the favour of a weak team far more than a strong team
We have average players getting regular games and polling higher in a B&F than an average player would in a strong team

agree. i dont think we would recieve very greatly from a trade with the gold coast. maybe keep hold of him for another year and if he doesnt come along try and get GWS to pick him up.
