Richmond midfielder Richard Tambling will miss the remainder of the 2010 season with a hip injury.
Tambling will have surgery on Monday, and is expected to recover in time for the Tigers’ summer training program.
The 24-year-old has played 13 games this season for a total of 108 in his career so far.
Tambling joins Nathan Foley, Ben Griffiths, Adam Thomson and Tom Hislop with season-ending injuries in 2010.

;D
If Richie has been carrying the hip all year it would explain his drop off this season. Agree with FFV that it's a smart move to put Blingers in cotton wool and get him right to go for the preseason.
-
Is there any other player in the side that's sore? Put them in cotton wool as well.

we will
the target is to have the whole squad fit and firing for the first day of pre-season training.
Expect a heap more season ending surgeries in the next couple of weeks
Prudent planning

Yes, let's hope he recovers in time to start pre-season training with the Gold Coast :thumbsup

Like most Tiger supporters with a pair of eyes in their head, I realized long ago that after 6 seasons and 108 mostly forgettable games this bloke is just no good.
But by all means let's hold onto him a bit longer, until his value on the open market is as negligable as his value to our team....

Disagree with on a couple of things there mate.
I Reckon only about 10% of tiger fans thinks he's "no good" as you state.
I still think Tambling still has time on his side to be one of the Richmond greats.
If Hardwick has big plans for Richie. Then your comments also show a bit of disrespect for Dimma.
If I may ask out of curiosity, How many games of Senior footy have you ever played?

How many games RR has played is irrelevant and though I think "no good" is harsh there is no possibility of Tambling being a great player as I would use the term, servicable or foot soldier, not great
-
Would like to think if Richie can get his act together he can be remembered as a wonderful and great tiger like a Rodger Dean.
As KB or a flea type legend would be nice but probably dreaming a bit there. ;D

Since day 1, the club still dont know where to play him.
That means after 6 years, the player and the club dont know what to do.
Is he a forward, a backman , an on baller, who knows, I certainly dont, does anyone?

He is a good ordinary half-back flanker.
Don't you go to the football?

Very funny,
Can tell you his name is moved around like a chess player at the monday meetings. ;)
One minute forward, next minute back, next minute not on the whiteboard at all

Sometimes it is up to the player to find a position and make it his own.

Roger Dean was a dead-set Tiger champion. Tambling would be lucky to be remembered as the next Michael Laffy. And I reckon the figure is closer to 90% of Tiger fans who reckon he's no good, if the many supporters I've spoken to are any indication.
X, I believe it was you on the official Richard Tambling thread who said that he's performing a role in the team that many fans can't necessarily see, but Dimma is pleased with. But when asked by another poster to explain exactly what that role is as you see it, you didn't offer a reply.
Because mate, I've watched him closely over the years struggle as an onballer, a crumbing forward, and a rebounding half-back flanker, and for the life of me I can't see what his value to the team is.
For the most part I reckon he just jogs along beside the contest like a police escort. And apart from a few social games, mostly for Punt Road End, I've never played footy in my life, if that's in any way relevant.

Totally agree. he has little impact on a game. He cant even read the game well enough to run forward of the ball and kick a goal. Even Jake King has now learnt to do this

Snoring huh? Well, while you're sleeping you might like to dream a little dream of how much better our list would be today if our recruiters at the time'd had the sense to overlook Tambling and Meyer with picks 4 and 12, and recruit Buddy Franklin and Matthew Bate who went at 5 and 13 instead.

Correct.
Could you imagine Bate playing inside our F 50 now

the reason was " he had a role to play and was playing it beautifully' but as it turns out he has a injury so that now becomes the new excuse for this dud of a footballer.
I get confused with the list of excuses that have come about for him since 2004 and the only positive people can turn to is the 6 games last year where he played well.
reminds me of one jay Schulz where for years we held onto him in the hope he would kick 6 goals again like he did in Brisbane. A few good games dont make a player Tambling should be offloaded to the highest bidder not that i think we would get much.
-
said it once said it hundreds of times, Tambling doesn't know how to run and spread to the right positions, doesnt know when to get into the contest or wait for the next one, hence why he is so often caught in no mans land between contests. I've never seen an afl player get ignored by teammates so often, regularly bypassing him for another teammate down field. Even his own teammats are thinking wtf are you doing there.

Good point, RR! I agree with one exception. I am not sure our club could have got the results out of buddy and bate as Hawthorn and Melbourne has. Our ability and or resources to develop players in the past has been questionable!

True Richo.
It's quite possible that if Tambling was at Hawthorn and Franklin at Richmond people would be saying why did we pick Franklin over Tambling

I agree with this possibility with the non existance of development under the Wallace era. So many hopefuls turned out to be duds.
At another club such as Collingwood or hawthorn or Geelong they may have made a great player.
Look at the development of Travis Varcoe at Geelong. The cats were tossing up whether or not to pick him or JON.
True story.

i suppose tivendale isnt here anymore and morons have a hunger to keep stuffing kicking in to a player
next yr when tambling kicks arse i hope all u wankers stuff off

I think most of us including yourself hate mediocrity at punt road.
The angst against Tambling is evidence of how much people are fed-up with mediocrity over the last 28 years.
Everyone would be wrapped to see him succeed at Richmond and help propel us into a grand final but sadly I don't think he is mentally strong enough to do it.
It would be great if he did though.
