No joke, I was just kidding around that he was ineligible from this as well as the Rising Star.

Put it down to age. I didn't get it at all - still don't.

the question was asked, can dustin win the jd medal
the replay was he is ineligible due to his report
it was all taking the pee out of that stupid rule which means he cant win the rising star
but what made it funnier, syou asked the question if this is possible :lol
read the transcript it is in english when i last checked lol
just playing with ya smokey
but read it again
u willl laugh at urself too
-
Dusty's mistake apparently going by the AFL's decision makers was committing a minor rough conduct offence onfield which made him technically ineligible rather than going out, getting drunk and physically assulting a cabbie on the street which is somehow totally ignored regarding eligibility for the Rising Star award ??? :whistle ::).
As for our B&F I would say my top 5 are:
1. Deledio
2. Newman
3. Riewoldt
4. Edwards
5. Martin
Cotch, Moore, Tuck, Connors, Cousins to make up the top 10.
Thursty, Collins, King, Gus, Jackson and Astbury next in line.

Interesting to see what the top 10 will be given Mic Cullen reckoned today Matty White would finish in the B&F top 10. I would have 10 names ahead of Matty.
1. Newy
2. Lids
3. Jack
4. Cotch
5. Martin
6. Edwards
7. Moore
8. Cousins
9. Tuck
10. King
Jacko (two suspensions will hurt him), Connors (9 week holiday will hurt him also), Gus, Whitey, Collo and even Astbury would be close to top 15.
Thoughts?

The 2010 Jack Dyer Medal shapes as the most even and exciting in many years, with as many as four top chances to take ‘Jack’ home, when the count is conducted tomorrow night (Wednesday, September 1) at the Crown Palladium.
Brett Deledio, shooting for his third straight Richmond Best and Fairest award, has had an excellent season in a sweeping role across half-back, but he faces strong opposition from Tiger captain, Chris Newman, star spearhead, Jack Riewoldt, and young gun, Dustin Martin.
Deledio averaged 25.3 disposals per game in his 22 appearances for the Tigers this season. The 23-year-old veteran of 128 AFL games had 20 disposals or more 20 times, with a season-best 35 against Hawthorn at the MCG in Round 8. He was ranked No. 1 at the Club for kicks (302), No. 2 for handballs (254), No. 1 for total disposals (556), No. 2 for total marks (116), No. 1 for inside-50 entries (76) and No. 1 for rebound-50s (93).
Newman enjoyed his best season of league football in 2010. The Tiger skipper averaged 19.5 disposals per game in his 21 appearances, with a season-high 28 against reigning premier Geelong at Skilled Stadium in Round 6. He had 20 disposals or more on 12 occasions. In the rebound-50s category at the Club, he was ranked No. 2, with a total of 79, while he was ranked No. 5 for total disposals (410), No. 4 for total marks (101), No. 6 for inside-50 entries (52), and equal No.5 for tackles (68).
Riewoldt kicked 78 goals in his 22 games this season, winning the Coleman Medal as the competition’s leading goalkicker. He scored three goals or more 14 times, and four goals or more on eight occasions. From Round 8-15, he booted 43 goals, the highest individual total in a consecutive eight-game period by an AFL player since Essendon’s Matthew Lloyd in 2001. Riewoldt was ranked No. 1 at the Club for total marks (123), No. 1 for contested marks (54), No. 1 for marks inside-50 (79), and equal No. 5 for tackles (68).
Martin had a major impact in Richmond’s midfield throughout his debut season of AFL football. The 19-year-old averaged just over 20 disposals per match in his 21 games. He had 20 disposals or more 11 times, with a season-high 26 against Brisbane at the Gabba in Round 13. He was ranked No. 1 at the Club for clearances (97), No. 3 for total disposals (425), No. 2 for inside-50 entries (74), No. 2 for contested possessions (179) and No. 4 for tackles (70).
The 2010 Jack Dyer Medallist should come from that talented Tiger quartet, although Shane Tuck, who has finished top-10 in the Best and Fairest in each of his five full seasons at Punt Road also has claims, along with the much-improved Shane Edwards.

You a Gus fan now, Jack? I'm still not totally convinced he will be good enough to ruck for us when we're pushing for a finals spot. We need Vickery to step up next year. Browney has made good progress this season though :thumbsup

7. Edwards
8. Gus
9. White
10. King
No Kel Moore ?
If I put Moore in i'd probably have him about 8 and move everyone from there back one position. White and King are question marks, Gus I believe deserves to be there he had a break out year of sorts, got a bit tired towards the end. Moore though is not without a chance, he could easily fit into the back third of the top 10.

Moore had a very solid season , played most games and in the first 9 rounds the ball was coming in every minute with bugger all midfield pressure. He held up bloody well. I'll be interested to see how the people who vote in the JD medal saw his season. Be very very surprised if he's not at least in the top 10
-
Great video presentation showing of all the past winners of the medal right now, with some 30 Seconds from Mars music playing in the background. Mark Lee, Trevor Poole, Flea Weightman, Michael Pickering and Tony Free all showing now
Tiger greats Tommy Hafey, Francis Bourke, Michael Roach and Flea are all here tonight, they get a great intro
All boys pulled up well from Mad Monday
President Gary March has taken the podium and will be delivering his speech
Richmond Football Club wishing Troy Simmonds, Ben Cousins and Graham Polak all the best in their retirements, all get great ovations from the audience

Troy Simmonds: It was good to come back home, spent 3 years in Perth and learnt a lot about myself and the game, but coming home was fantastic and was able to play 6 great years. The club has been so great to me, the club is laying some serious foundations now. "I've played at 3 clubs, but I'm a Richmond man now"
Ben Cousins now chatting with Craig Willis: "Last few weeks have been a big build up to my retirement, but tonight is a chance to thank the RFC family and the people in power that drafted me to this football club."
Cuz: "Gary March and and his wife offered me their house when I first arrived. I also want to thank Craig Cameron for his ability to mange the circus that surrounds me, its no easy task. To Dimma, Ive loved playing under you and staggered how much I've learnt off you in a short period of time. You've brought back some real belief and hpe to this footy club."
Cuz: "I'd like to thank Wayne Campbell for his advice in myy time at RFC. I owe a lot to the playing group who gave me a chance to play for this footy club. I'm forever indebted for being a part of it. Last but not least, I want to thank the Richmond faithful, you've taken me in as one of your own. In the bottom of my heart, I am a Tiger."
Polak: "The media gave me no hope of playing again. I want to thank the Tiger faithful, the support, to Greg Miller who brought me on thank you. To the current coaching staff and giving me a chance to come back to the game"

No surprises so far and still anybodies. Tucky is polling well given he wasn't considered for selection let alone in the team for the first month.
Good to see Nason gets votes/recognition for his early season form.
-
Tucky is polling well given he wasn't considered for selection let alone in the team for the first month.
Wouldn't that be a big story - from the scrapheap to the top of the pile in 1 season.

A massive turnup of the books if he did win it. If we traded him after a B&F to the GC we'll probably get a top 10 pick in return ;D.

Congrove Jenkin Medal went to Dustin Martin btw.
I agree!
1000%
People have paid money to go to an event and see the result live. Not to have it published on the front page of the Herald Sun website! Just Disgraceful!
-
Martin's award is for best first year player
martin: "I'd like to thank the club, coaches and teammates you made the transition a lot easier. Thanks to Gary and Bev for having me at their house". A man of few words
Most Improved player - SHANE EDWARDS!
-
"Popular Riewoldt's win had the approval of all in the Crown ballroom, but the biggest cheers of the night came whenever Ben Cousins polled a vote, despite him finishing outside the top 10."
How the hell does Horan know that when they are only halfway through the count ???
-
Michael Roach Award...most goals goes to, well you know, Jack Riewoldt!
Jack: "Unlike the other boys I prepared something" Ha!
He thanked the missus, Carli!
-
the herald sun have pulled down the article. its still a disgrace IMHO!

has there been a leak? disgraceful if so
I would imagine that these things are given in confidence to media outlets before time so that they can get tomorrows paper done ahead of time in exchange for a bit of back page action or at least a bit better exposure. Pretty unprofessional of the HUN

Riewoldt, 21, pipped his captain Chris Newman by six votes, with 210, to claim his first Jack Dyer medal.
Brett Deledio, aiming for a third win in a row, was third with 193 votes.
Riewoldt, who won the John Coleman medal as the AFL's leading goalkicker (78 goals) hit the front in the vote count in Round 9 and stayed there through 10 rounds of voting before being overhauled by Newman in Round 19.
But a seven-goal haul against his cousin Nick's St Kilda team in Round 21 put the Tasmanian back in front, where he remained.
Riewoldt's stellar season was highlighted by a stunning 10-goal haul against West Coast at the MCG in Round 12.
Emerging star Dustin Martin (159), seasoned midfielder Shane Tuck (153) and Shane Edwards (151) finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
Popular Riewoldt's win had the approval of all in the Crown ballroom, but the biggest cheers of the night came whenever Ben Cousins polled a vote, despite him finishing outside the top 10.
Cousins maintained a low profile during the night, declining to comment on the plight of the Hawks' Travis Tuck - brother of teammate Shane - and his 12-match suspension for returning a third positive drug test.

Jack Riewoldt has capped off a superb, break-out season of AFL football by winning his inaugural Jack Dyer Medal.
Riewoldt becomes the first player in Richmond’s history to win the Best and Fairest and the competition’s leading goalkicker award in the same season.
The exciting, young full-forward, who took out the Coleman Medal, with 78 goals in the 2010 home-and-away season, edged out Tiger captain Chris Newman in a thrilling Jack Dyer Medal count held in the Palladium Ballroom at Crown this evening.
Riewoldt polled 210 votes to win by six from Newman on 204 votes, with Brett Deledio, winner of the past two Jack Dyer Medals, in third place on 193 votes. Dustin Martin underlined the impact he had in his debut season by finishing fourth with 159 votes, while in fifth place was Shane Tuck, who continued his remarkable run in the Jack Dyer Medal. It was Tuck’s sixth top-10 finish in six full seasons of AFL football with the Tigers. Shane Edwards, who received the Club’s Most Improved Player award, was sixth, while Trent Cotchin, despite missing four games late in the season due to suspension, finished seventh.
It took Riewoldt until Round 9 to take the lead in the 2010 Jack Dyer Medal count, which he did, courtesy of a top-class, six-goal effort in a losing side against Essendon. The 21-year-old then racked up the votes in the following few rounds, scoring a perfect 25 for his outstanding, match-winning 10-goal display against West Coast at the MCG in Round 12. Riewoldt had a comfortable 14-vote lead after Round 15, but by the end of Round 19, Newman had worked his way in front. The Tiger skipper still held a slender lead after Round 20, but a brilliant seven-goal performance by Riewoldt, in the Round 21 loss to St Kilda at Etihad Stadium, was the clincher. Riewoldt regained the lead and did enough in the final round to hang on to claim his first Jack Dyer Medal.
Throughout the 2010 season, Riewoldt scored three goals or more 14 times, and four goals or more on eight occasions. From Round 8-15, he kicked 43 goals, which was the highest individual total in a consecutive eight-game period by an AFL player since Essendon’s Matthew Lloyd in 2001. Riewoldt was ranked No. 1 at the Club for total marks (123), No. 1 for contested marks (54), No. 1 for marks inside-50 (79) and equal No. 5 for tackles (68).
Newman enjoyed his best season of league football in 2010 and his second placing in the Jack Dyer Medal was his highest finish in the Club’s Best and Fairest. The Tigers captain averaged 19.5 disposals per game in his 21 appearances and had 20 disposals or more 12 times. He was ranked No. 2 in the rebound-50s category at the Club (79), No. 5 for total disposals (410), No. 4 for total marks (101), No. 6 for inside-50 entries (52) and equal No. 5 for tackles (68).
Deledio had an excellent season, in a new role under coach, Damien Hardwick, as a rebounding half-back. The 23-year-old veteran of 128 league games had 20 disposals or more 20 times. He was ranked No. 1 at the Club for kicks (302), No. 2 for handballs (254), No. 1 for total disposals (556), No. 2 for total marks (116), No. 1 for inside-50 entries (76) and No. 1 for rebound-50s (93).
Martin had an instant impact in Richmond’s midfield throughout his debut season of AFL football. The 19-year-old averaged just over 20 disposals per match in his 21 games, and had 20 disposals or more 11 times. He was ranked No. 1 at the Club for clearances (97), No. 3 for total disposals (425), No. 2 for inside-50 entries (74), No. 2 for contested possessions (179) and No. 4 for tackles (70).
Tuck didn’t earn senior selection at Tigerland until Round 3, but he quickly made up for lost time with his customary vote-catching form. The 28-year-old averaged 25.5 disposals per game in his 20 appearances and had 20 disposals or more 16 times. He was ranked No. 3 at the Club for kicks (227), No. 1 for handballs (283), No. 2 for total disposals (510), No. 2 for clearances (92), No. 3 for inside-50 entries (66) and No. 1 for tackles (103).
The voting system for the Jack Dyer Medal is, as follows . . .
After each game, the five members of the Club’s match committee cast votes for each of the team’s 22 players.
Each player receives zero to five votes from each coach, so the most an individual player can poll in a match is 25 votes.
Five votes are awarded for an outstanding performance, four for an excellent game, all the way down to zero if the player is well beaten on the day.

Hard to disagree with the top 10 and the other awards. It was always going out of Jack, Newy and Lids from the top 3. Perhaps Cuz a fraction stiff not to squeeze inside the top 10. The good sign for us is most of the top 10 has plenty of footy ahead of them in the future. A great effort by Martin especially as a first year player to finish 4th.
-
well done ramps :thumbsup
love to take the credit but it was someone elses handy work using my nicname
-
Well done to Jake King.....played only 15 games and came in 9th
It just proves 12 months is a long time in Football. My personal opinion of Jake ability has changed dramatically.
He has gone from being a real backline liability to forward line "spark plug".I love him.
-
As smokey said during the count Tucky was another one who turned his fortunes around after coming into the season on the scrapheap and wasn't in Dimma's original plans. A top 5 finish is a top effort from him.
-
Thoroughly deserved Jack!
Awesome year bleeds yellow and black!!
Great medal duo a Coleman and Jack Dyer! Makes it even better silencing the hidious thoughts that you are lazy or lacked potential (mainly Collingwood members) nothing more ridiculous!
We always believed in ya Jack!
Looking forward to 2011 with another Pre Season behind him and Griffo fit and a pre season aswell, can't wait to see more transformation in 2011!! :gotigers
-
Awesome effort by Martin 4th in first year, still can't believe some thought he was a wrong pick.. Lolol dear o dear how funny does that seem now..
Shane Edwards thoroughly deserve most improved!
Interesting Jack got more votes than Lids in the last game? I thought Lids was better than Jack
-
What a night!
Dusty what a way with words he has.
Such attitude I love it.
Polo said in his own words "I think I'm gone"
The nicest bloke there tonight was farmer, a real good kid to chat with.
Told him to stop fluffing around and kick the stuffing thing.
Spoke to foley about his Achilles and he said he wasn't even close to playing this year. Really worrying injury that, fingers crossed.
The only downfall is those big plates and small servings. What was that entree what a joke!!
-
Well done Jack. Thoroughly deserved. Well done to King and Tuck as well.
-
The only downfall is those big plates and small servings. What was that entree what a joke!!
Agree the chicken (which was very nice Jack ;D) could have run around the plate headless and still had plenty of room. As for the entree - one mouthful and I was done with it
It was a good night
From the "casualty ward" = Edward's in a sling, Webberley on Crutches, Astbury a slight limp, Benny Griffiths said his shoulders are coming along well, :thumbsup

Great post Daniel!
Had a big laugh about Dusty his attitute is amazing too everyone on Richos farewell it was just a get stuffed get out of my way lol I didn't mind it in fact I liked it. Shows his on field aggression and style isn't fake.
He looks to get on well with his team mates which is the main thing but not a very chatty bloke lol! Be interesting how long before the media start asking questions and pointing the finger, I hope they don't make an issue out of it.. He's a gun
Farmer was tanked the last time I saw him will make the effort to have a chat, chance to speak to our Skipper? I'm still blown away at how good of a bloke Newman was and howprofessionally he speaks about the RFC and things in general.. Heart and soul for mine

X to hear Martin when he went on stage to receive his awards was quite amusing.
this bloke does not give a flying af-uck about these awards or any crap like that. He can hardly string 2 words together but gee there lies a Brownlow medalist if ever ive seen one.
Gary March though was either wasted or not a very good public speaker
Polo is finished he knows it everyone there knows it too.
Did anyone speak to Mcguane. I wanted to ask that dud about this infamous 450k a year deal which i dont think has been confirmed because pepople were saying its not true.
As for the Ben " sorry i dont do photo's" Cousins i can actually understand that. 300 people would be messaging the herald sun and before the days out he would be on the web site.

LOL nice quote down the bottom there Pope. Did Monk really say all that? IM shocked!
Yeah l sure did Owl, back in 2008 ;D when Rewoldt was a lazy prick right upto the start of this year, his attitude & watching the ball coming out of the forward line was shocking
funny enough the players & coaches said the same thing about his attitude & lazyness & his only played 3/4 of as good season.
was widely talked about among the group to him nearly being punched in the face. l cant help if l posted this early in his career.
l suppose if they keep you for along time to do a apprenticeship you become a tradesman ;D most dont get that long
Popelord will latch onto Rewoldt as some superstar but his got alot of work in front of him yet & he dropped off late in the season
-

You've always bagged Riewoldt, it's pathetic. in 2008 he was a 19 year old, stop trying to defend a pathetic comment.
The quote speaks for itself, "You didn't rate him for the future at all, and suggested Hughes would be better"
Horrendous call lol. 18 months later he is the Coleman medallist lol.
I wish your Magpies all the luck this September.
-
ahh come on I didn't wanna start you two up lol ffs. Just some ribbing. Now tongue kiss and make up.

I really struggle to believe any of that as being true, apart from the bit where you admitted to making the quote of the century in calling Jack a dud
Baaaaaaaaaaaaaa
-
Popelord, I think it was admirable of Monk to come out and state his opinion at the time about Jack and now putting his hand up and saying yep that was me and that is what I believed at the time rather than hiding under a rock.
I think after that Port Game in 2008 when he bagged 6, Many of us thought Cleve would be the next king of the forward line, also I reckon a lot of us thought Jack was a little soft and slow at the start of his career and knew he had some work to do. To his credit, Jack put in the hard yards, got rid of the yips and is now a Coleman medallist. Who would have predicted that two years ago?? Not me that’s for sure.
There are many here who fly under the radar and are too scared to post their opinion in case they get proven wrong later. Monk is not one of them. Sometimes we're right, sometimes we're wrong, but it takes a fair bit of intestinal fortitude to make detailed predictions on individuals that seriously leave you open to potential ridicule.
If we all reserved judgment until such time that it is a safe bet to give an accurate opinion, this forum would be as boring as Bat Poo.
I think We all have gotten it wrong here at some stage or another (except for Jackstar ;D) and if you dig deep enough I'm sure you'll find plenty of dirt to dish out. Just start with the prediction threads over the past 4 or 5 years.

What I don't find admirable Tiga is an internet nuffer slagging off at a young developing player and a KPP at that.
I found it immensely amusing that TM made personal attacks on Jack and has been proven to made the biggest dud call in the history of forums

You bagged Kingy out no difference & that was this year
l dont like Rewoldt fullstop, seen him at a 21st birthday party a few weeks back what a dip & on the slops

I don't mind as I wasn't posting back then

if you want to play that game how about we go through the posts where everyone loved Mcmahon and Wallet when we first got them.
Would be a very interesting exercise now wont it as opposed to all those who are slagging him now.
Ooh and shall we go through the posts of those that said Dimma was a failure or leave it for now.
TM i thought Kingy was done, dusted, throw away the key now he still might not make it but if you ask me now id say id say i got that wrong.
GET OVER IT YOU IMBECILES EVERYONE GETS IT WRONG BUT NOT MANY PEOPLE ADMIT IT.

Agreed.
It's one thing to have an opinion on the present, but to try an attempt predicting the future is stupid. When your proven wrong you look even dumber.
You cop you're right whack if your dumb enough to claim you'll know how a player develops and you get it wrong.
I have every right to defend Jack and our club, and I'll continue to do it cause only the biggest flog would lay into a 19 year old KP player, especially from his own club.
If he had any class he'd put his hand up and laugh about it but for the last 4 months TM's tried to defend it saying it was warranted which is about the dumbest thing of all.
-
good to see connors was sober
he wasnt at 4.00am in the morning :cheers
See this is silly, your not claiming Connors has broken his commitment he has made to the club and leadership group that hes going to remain sober for 12 months?

You've always bagged Riewoldt, it's pathetic. in 2008 he was a 19 year old, stop trying to defend a pathetic comment.
The quote speaks for itself, "You didn't rate him for the future at all, and suggested Hughes would be better"
Horrendous call lol. 18 months later he is the Coleman medallist lol.
I wish your Magpies all the luck this September.
prefer to bag Rewoldt than say l'm a professional & personal involved in the AFL draft :rollin :rollin
You bagged Kingy out no difference & that was this year
l dont like Rewoldt fullstop, seen him at a 21st birthday party a few weeks back what a dip & on the slops
King's criticsms were valid, he had horrendous disposal and is still undisciplined, he's turned it around and full credit to him. I never said he'd amount to nothing and Relton Roberts will take his place. You don't criticism Jack you take pleasure in slagging him off, proved by your admittance you don't like him. Farcical...
If you're going to sook up every time we bring up the fact you've made the worst call in OER history whats the point of making opinions if we only talk about the right ones.
ROFL @ you claiming you were at his birthday party, did you bring your mate Travis Tuck lol. Shame Riewoldt wasted an invite on a bloke who hates him.

if you want to play that game how about we go through the posts where everyone loved Mcmahon and Wallet when we first got them.
Pretty simple daniel if your going to bag someone in a open forum make sure you get it right cause when they come back and prove you wrong, win a Coleman and B&F, you look like a effing idiot.

I think you should do that because I don't remember many people on any Richmond forum being in favour of that trade at all. You have a strange recollection of the past. Perhaps going back to find those posts may make you realise how few people there were that were that wanted him.
How could Dea get votes, he didnt have a kick did he ??
Making up "facts" yet again, how many times do you need to be told how wrong you are before you'll stop?
-
Here's the fully tally of votes
(http://www.richmondfc.com.au/Portals/0/overall.jpg)
SO we had 42 players get senior gigs this year - there's 41 on the list - who's missing ???
BTW I know the answer but consider it a trivia question
Felton Roberts

Lol had a good chuckle over this
Dea had 16 possies against Freo in round 5 including 7 kicks. That's where he would've got his 6 votes.

All up the Club got it right IMO. On OER our predictions had most of the top 17.
Nason and Farmer polled very well for their first genuine season at AFL level (Mitch only played 3 games in 2 years at Port).
Astbury polling more than Thursty and McGaune is telling. The latter two would be nervous with trade week coming up in a month. The rest of our young talls - Vickery, Griffiths, Rance, Browne, Post, Gourdis and Grimes - in the second half of the tally show we are as expected still in transition with a young developing list. Hopefully most will make it and come on in the next couple of years.

You've got to love the way Jack speaks about the Club. He sounds like a everyday Tiger supporter as well as a player :thumbsup.

How far the cherry?
BEN Cousins didn't crack it for a top-10 finish in the Jack Dyer Medal race. This would have seemed a little odd to those who thought he was not infrequently among the top two or three Tigers players in matches during the season.
To regular observers, the Richmond best-and-fairest award remains a constant source of top-drawer puzzlement.
The case of Shane Tuck might provoke another head-scratch or two. First they tried to trade him off, then they didn't select him for a substantial portion of the season, and finally he secures fifth place in the best and fairest.
When that Chinese philosopher bloke coined the famous curse, "May you live in interesting times", apparently he had Tigerland in mind. The times are certainly never less than interesting there.

That would be the same Shane Tuck that missed 2 games for the season? Just when we think we have found the dux of moronic lazy journo's, along comes a new contender.

Foley and Jackson at the Jack Dyer medal
Daniel Jackson and Nathan Foley were let loose with the handycam during the 2010 Jack Dyer Medal presentation evening.
The boys grilled winner Jack Riewoldt, fifth place getter Shane Tuck, midfielder Andrew Collins and assistant coach Justin Leppitsch.

Think Astbury played more games than Will & Luke. This may explain part of it.
Edited to correct quote

Think he played more games than them because he's the future and those two are no longer all that important. :thumbsup
