Excitement machines
Martin Blake
August 19, 2010
It's the unpredictable, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants players that the crowd comes to see.
Our top 10 crowd-pleasers:
1. Lance Franklin (Hawthorn)
2. Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn)
3. Gary Ablett (Geelong)
4. Jack Riewoldt (Richmond)
But Jack Riewoldt is the best pure high mark in the competition nowadays. Riewoldt's launch at a high ball without any obvious concern for his personal safety is something to behold in a time when the game is planned and strategised to within a centimetre of its life. His is an old-fashioned way of playing footy.
5. Steve Johnson (Geelong)
6. Alan Didak (Collingwood)
7. Adam Goodes (Sydney)
8. Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda)
9. Brendan Fevola (Brisbane Lions)
10. Aaron Davey (Melbourne)
For future consideration:
Lewis Jetta (Sydney), Nic Naitanui (West Coast), Liam Jurrah (Melbourne), Jeff Garlett (Carlton), Chris Yarran (Carlton), Stephen Hill (Fremantle), Jarrad Grant (Western Bulldogs)

Dane Swan isn't an excitement machine, he just gets plenty of the ball and kicks mongrels.
