All Australian: what they said
Jack Riewoldt (Rich)
"It’s been a great year personally but we were disappointing and hopefully we can improve next year."
“It’s a first All-Australian selection for me at any level, so I’m rapt, but I’d trade it to play finals footy at any time.”

Can someone explain WTF Harry 5 0 is doing in this side?
Did the match review panel pick the side?

What about Harry Taylor? His last month to 6 weeks has been poor
-
Harry Obrien deserved to be in the side.
Shuts all of his critics up who slagged him off after a excellent season
from watching every game he played mostly live he deserved it
congratulations to all those players
some big players missed out

Yeah right, if he played for Richmond he would be ripped into by you for not being accountable for his man, only getting a dozen touches a game and poor kicking skills and we wouldn't expect him to be AA. They'd be right too.
-
Well done to Jack, shame about Lids though.
-
Well done Jack, thoroughly deserved.
Lids on form might be considered unlucky not to be playing for a good side but not too often the 15th placed team gets more than one soldier in the AA team.
-
Harry O'brien's not even the best HBF in his team. He doesn't even lead the comp in his only redeeming feature, running bounces, Rhyce Shaw does (another HBF that had a better year). If you rate O'brien's year you've been sucked in with the best of them.
Compare him to the Shaw brothers, Malceski, Deledio & Newman and you will fall off your chair at how this hyperpotato got AA. Fair enough the 15th placed side gets over looked but there were at least a half dozen blokes that should have gone in ahead of him and most of them from finals sides.
Harry O'bribem aside, Hayes was the big shock for me.
Well done to Jack.

O'Brien :lol They're taking the pee, surely :rollin

another poo post, you must have a dull lifestyle
you think your better than the Australian Selectors. Harry O has been dominant in the magpie backline & his not acountable for his man when his the one breaking the lines & pumping it out of the backline.
Anyone saying this bloke cant play dont know what thier talking about cause his had a steller year. otherwise he woulnot get rewarded at all.
-
O'Brien :lol They're taking the pee, surely :rollin
its racial lol
and they needed a try hard humanitarian try hard politician in the team lol
ffs lids and Newman both have had better season than the try hard Brazilian
-
Harry had a far solid year than the go missing Deledio & Newman X. His consistant form is one of the reasons the Skunks are where they are. + they have players sitting out who can cover their backline injuries.
Afraid to say they are this years team & l'm going to reap the rewards from it bigtime ;D :thumbsup or l'm going to loose a fair few $ if l'm wrong on Swan & Skunks
otherwise they can all burn in hell ;D

Hayes' omission shows how out of touch the AA selection committee are. Everyone is just blown away by that, he should be a contender for the captaincy of the AA side.
The selections are so inconsistent. I didn't mind the unspoken rule that players needed 2 good seasons in a row to make it, now that seems to be wavering.
The last two years they have just stacked the side full of players from the two best sides of the year, rather than just picking the position and picking the best player, regardless of the team. Having said that, they still pick players like Jamar, Frawley & O'Brien. Judd could retire and still get picked, lucky to get a spot this year. Pavlich had a better year than Franklin in a better side, and played more games too.
-
I guess every side needs a turnover merchant and a whipping boy, even the AA. Well done Hazza :bow
-
Brad Green better than Hall this season
Hayes not making it is a disgrace
Harry O making it is an even bigger one
Judd lucky to make it
surprised they didnt give Pav his token freebie AA this season

Would hardly call Pav's year a freebie selection if he got one
21 H&A games, 400 disposals, 97 marks, 54 goals, 33 behinds & 69 tackles
That's a pretty fair season in anyone's books

nope, classic case of stats telling lies. He really dropped off after about rnd 9-10, and had limited impact. Was rightfully left out this season as there were better players vying for his possie in the fwd line.
and he was no way good value for the all the other 7 AA's, makes him look like an immortal of the game which he's not. No where near the likes of the elite of the elite, but 7 AA's depict him as one.

Might be a legit reason for that Infamy. It was mentioned on Monday night (not sure if it was in On The Couch or the AA broadcast) that the selection criteria for the squad of 40 changed this year from positional to purely best 40. From there they picked the best side possible (by ability and structure so positions then became relevant) as if it was game day. In the past the original squad of 40 was chosen positionally so x amount of mids, x amount of forwards etc, then the best of the best was chosen from that. So given all that, it would make more sense that the top teams would now have more AA reps than in the past because they would naturally have more of the best 40 players in the competition than the bottom teams. I'm not agreeing with the criteria, just mentioning it as a possible reason.

Was Franklin that much better to deserve the CHF spot? He had similar numbers to Pav but 100 less disposals and missed 1/4 of the season suspended
Would have much rathered they give Hall the CHF spot and get Brad Green in a forward pocket
Green was stiff to not get picked and Frawley & Jamar very lucky

MUCH better Infamy , missed 4 games but was dominant and was 1st or 2nd behind jack in goal average. Did those 100 less disposals come bc he mised 4 games?

Hmmm the Brownlow medallist named on the bench and the Norm Smith winner Lenny Hayes can't even get in the side ahead of the likes of Harry O'fumbles :whistle.
