Next up is Kel.
Moore played 19 games in 2010 to take his career total to 84. He had 5 games with 20+ possies - R2 vs Dogs, R7 vs Adel, R14 vs Syd, R15 vs Freo and R19 vs Melb.

How did we all rate Kel's season?
-
5/10
I like the guy but the jury is out on all our tall backs.
'65
-
Gave him a 7 based on the games I saw (had the son tape all our wins while I was away too), tend to agree with 65 though, I really think if we cant target a decent backman in the draft we should try to get one in the trade period.
-
at his best he's of AA quality, sadly we only see it a quarter of the time...still a very much required player, is as good offensively as he is defensively which is rare...at this point he is our best defender..Id love to say in 12 mths that grimesy and goo have gone past him but they both have the job ahead of them yet

6 for me.
Showed glimpses of 2008 form one week, then would be well beaten the next.
I would see what teams would be prepared to offer for Kel.
-
5. I find it hard to rate an of our guys much more than about a 6. There's lots of good signs in this 15th placed side.

3.5
tried to develop into more of a rebounder type this season which he isnt a smart enough footballer to do well. Constantly got caught out in no mans land ie not close enough to his opponent and got exposed a lot.
Moore is at his best playing as a KPD even if he is a bit undersized for it. He was bulkier in 2008 and could keep his feet against the big guys, and was quicker than them when it hit the ground. He then trimmed down in 09 to play a more rebounding role and has never been the same since.
We can do without 1 or 2 of him, McGuane or Thursfiled, take your pick, i don't mind bc i think all 3 have had plenty of chances and are not up to scratch.

A 5 from me
As summed up by Mr Magic

Like so many of our players the difference between good & bad is still too great IMO
-
4 - (from me :)) I think he has gone a bit possession hungry!
Forgot about the basic "punch the football".
Why doesn't he play on the Monster Forwards? He is big? What is the problem?
:-[
-
Gave him a 5. Like some other posters, I think he had a very inconsistent year. All 3 of our key taller backs suffered from it and none have put on the bulk required to match it with the opposition key tall forwards. I think we need to look at moving 1 of the 3 amigos on (Thursfield is my choice but it wouldn't worry too much which one) and letting Gourdis and Post develop into the role.
-
5/10
His game against the Hawks was his best in yellow and black but like others have said we don't see it enough.
Solid but yet to take the next step up and stay there.
-
Trade for a kid
-
A 7/10 from me. Thought he had a really good , consistent season. Easily our best tall defender.
-
Not consistent enough but still a poo load better than Thursty and McGuane. Been hoping he'd reproduce his 2008 form for a while now.
Gave him a 6.
-
I thought that during our "purple patch" Kel Moore was playing at the same level he was during the 2008 season.
When fit,Kel is clearly a level above Thursty & McGuane however Kelvin still had some ordinary games in 2010.
Trade bait.
-
Trade Bait?
I think it would be very dangerous to trade our best tall defender when all of his understudies still have big questions over them, i.e. Gourdis and his disposal.
Maguantanamo Bay and Thirsty Slapper are trade bait, yes. But if we lose Moore, our defence could go to complete poo.
His year wasnt great, but it wasnt bad, and he is still easily our best KPD.
I gave him a seven.
-
gave him a 4 cause he dropped right off this year. another bad year & he be out the door playing for Omeo / Benambra
-
If only we had a quality defender like Harry O, then we would be set
-
Would give him a six. Was very good on occasions but agree can be inconsistent. Apart from Newman was our best defender. Would not get rid of him. Would get rid of McGuane. Would keep Thursfield. Thursfield is the best spolier in the team
-
8th in the B&F behind Cotchin means the coaches must have thought he was doing something right
Especially when you consider McGuane & Thursfield came in 18th & 19th

disagree with this. has never been above 86kg like mcguane and thursfield has always been undersized to play kp.
unlike thursfield and mcguane he has genuine pace agility and neat skills. he should be playing as a genuine rebounder whos primary role is to give his other tall backs a chop out.imo we certainly need to persevere with him in the role.
i do agree we can do without 1 or two of the three i just think moore has more attributes and is much more rounded than the other two.
thought his 2010 a marked improvement on 09 which was filled with niggles. would give him somewhere around 6 or 7 out of 10.

while on our backs i reckon we need to structure up thus.
b; moore 190/86 gourdis 193/93 newman 183/84/tambling 180 80
hb; deledio 188/88 post 195/95 dea 186/83

For what its worth , I dont rate Harry O.
Can be exposed if you can get the right match up.
You need to get Harry O back to the goal square.
Is deficent overhead.
Opposition clubs play into his hands by letting him "'peel off ""down the ground, thus he kills you on the rebound., as your players chase kicks and push through the corrdior.
Example I think to mind for a similar player is Sam Fisher when he played us, we got the match up we wanted and Sam had to go back to the goal square with Jack Riewoldt, guess what, Jack kicked 7

He's a damn sight better than Andrew Raines Jackie. ;D
I'd have Harry in our team any day of the week.
-
Hey Tiger Monk,
Do you know of Omeo/Benambra?
I played for them when I was living up there for a couple yrs.
Spin out to hear you speak of them, even if its taking the pee..lol
-
my old man used to own a Hotel up that way called the Blue Duck.
i used to go and watch Omeo/Benambra

Yeah your right.
What about some other over rated hack Collingwood defender.
I am just trying to keep the dual membership people happy.

disagree with your thoughts. He was clearly bigger and stronger in 08 and was instructed by the coaching staff that he was to become more of a rebounder in 09 so would need to improve his running capacity, hence his traning in the 09 preseason was heavily geared to more running rather than strength and power, his shape became more lithe and lean. Wallace and co were banking on Thursfield ad McGuae to take the next step as KPD and thus release Moore who played the majority of 2008 as our number 1 key back, this backfired with Thursfield losing favour and McGuane not doing much in 2009.
Moore is simply not good enough or smart enough to be a kingpin rebounder. Leave that to those who can play it like Lids and Newman. He should have remained a sightly unersized KPD where his superor agility to most KPF enabled him to thrash themonce the ball hit the ground.

No you are wrong he has never been bigger than he iss now his form flunctuates so much because he is so lightly framed and even minor injuries knock him about.
he does not stay on the park for us because we ask a much smaller framed bloke to compete with gorillas he will remain inconsistent if injured and if we continue to ask him to compete way out of his division.
we have stuffed enough players around over the yrs lets not make moore another.
