Civil Engineering is obviously a new concept in Delhi lol. Sheesh 7 years to get it all built and we've got bridges collapsing, ceilings falling down and water pipes that don't work :help. The 100m sprint will be an obstacle course around bobcats, over ditches and hurdling jackhammers :wallywink.

Time to pull the pin and say CANCELLED
12 months ago you could see they weren't going to be ready
And BTW I applaud that young lady who pulled out yesterday. She was 100% spot on with her reasoning - it just isn't worth it

They worry about terrorism
They have their own terrorists - construction engineers lol
Will do more damage than Osama :rollin

I remember the Greeks getting slaughtered by the Australian, US and British press for there preparations for the 2004 Olympics- I might add "post twin towers terrorist attack" but they got it done and without any terrorist action, the buildings were fine, the only disappointment was they didnt stick a roof on the pool - these indians have disgraced themselves. Its a massive stuff up. How can you have 1 billion people and 7 years to build the stuff and still not be done and have buildings and infrastructure fallinga part. Its unbelievable.

"Wednesday's minor disaster, however, wasn't the result of a design or construction flaw but caused by a person stepping on to a no-go zone and on the soft tiles that aren't built to take weight, officials said.
"A man was walking along the roof and not the catwalk, which is the way to get to the roof. When he fell, he must have grabbed on to the false ceiling, a portion of which came down along with him,'' said BK Chugh, director-general (works) of CPWD."

An overreaction by the press to say the least.

the crowds look very poor where is everyone??
hopefully they give out tickets if they need to. watching sports at this level without crowds feels like its just missing something.

Who wants to see heats in the swimming with athletes from The Isle Of Man, Gibraltar, Seychelles and Papua New Guinea all in the same heat lol. It is farcical the commentator mentioned the WR in 50 butterfly I think was in 25 secs and the athletes from aforementioned countries pb's were in 42 secs.
Doesn't help when the whole thing is poorly organised and the Aussie athletes were stuck in a tunnel for 1 hour prior to the opening ceremony in 40 degree heats and the organisers had no idea what to do with the Aussies complaining. Never give anything of this magnitude to a Third World country. Appalling.

im talking about netball and all the other sports on today that had very appalling crowd turn out. Most of them looked like they was playing in empty sport facilities.
If a country doesnt go to the games and support the athletes they shouldnt hold the games again.

That seems to be the Indian public's reaction to the actual competition. The grandstands at every sport are empty. Of course another reason may be the price of tickets is too expense for the average Indian and the Games' organisers were hoping for so many foreigners to come and pay over the top prices for events. Seems the tourists have been scared off from going by the risk of terrorism and the disorganisation leading up to the games. The South Africans did the same charging overprice tickets to foreigners for the World Cup but when they found out they wouldn't get near filling the stands they lowered the prices and sold the remaining tickets to local South Africans so at least there were crowds to every game.
It was quite funny btw hearing the whole Indian crowd at the opening ceremony booing the chairman of their organising committee even whenever just his name was mentioned. Obviously a popular figure with the locals lol :wallywink.

They just said on the telly that Shane Perkins who won the gold medal in one of the cycling events is grandson of Bill Perkins, 1943 premiership player and has a massive tiger tatt on his back.
Well done son....

Was the Nigerian one of the ones who protested? A bit of karma if so.
Sally finally got her gold medal anyway in the hurdles :clapping.
