Title: Travis Cloke
Post by: one-eyed on October 11, 2010, 11:58:47 AM
David Cloke on Trade Week radio said he hasn't been contracted about Travis as his manager so 99% certain nothing will happen. However if a new deal with Collingwood can't be done by the end of this week then Travis will head into the draft.

PSD?

Gold Coast obviously as well as has been rumoured.

And on cue here's DeepThroat on BF:....

David Cloke has just let the cat out of the bag, PSD draft pick for us, Carlton are trying short circuit it, we have offerred him a 3 yr deal. Carlton and collingwood have found out what we were trying to do, no money in the pies salary cap. It all depends on today with houli will determine what we do.

Hutchy just said Blues don't have the picks to do a deal in 2 hours. Pies don't have the cash to move. Talk of real disenchantment. The Pies have misread this and the severity of it. Barrett reckons from what David Cloke said that Travis is movable and he could be off to the National draft or PSD.

If true to form Damir is just grandstanding to get more $$$ out of Collingwood. Travis was on an inflated contract after his B&F so the Pies are now offering a reduced contract of around $400k a year according to Hutchy.

I don't really want him
Although it would be nice to get him and then just trade him at the end of next year for draft picks

Would West Coast overlook him for PSD #1?

Good call, be strange for him to be missed by GC or WCE.

Pies offering 2 years; Clokes want 3 years.

Don't want him either. Not bad on the lead, takes a pretty good grab but in front of goal he is like a drunk man on a cruise ship.

You guys are letting emotion get in the way of a fantastic opportunity. Cloke is 23 yo with 10 years infront of him. He is a CHF which we dont have and if you stick Griffiths on a stuff. Its a forward line that could destroy opposition defences in the future.

Would be sweet irony if we get Cloke jnr for free after he walks out of Collingwood. Mirror image of dad 28 years ago.

If this is true then the Houli trade becomes a question of " Is T Cloke worth a second round pick?" Now if we were keen on him you'd think the answer to this question would be YES. The fact that we are not giving up our second round pick for Houli implies to me we are not after Clock in the PSD.

He actually said they could have first 8 but are likely to use one at most.

Also didnt answer the question regarding whether they were interested in Houli or Cloke.

Ta al and X

Clayton said he was happy with the 8 uncontracted players they got. IIRC he said any more would get in the way of their kids getting games. He also used the reason as X posted that their salary cap is maxed. Room for just one ND or PSD pick.

Don't think he will become available but if he does i dont want him and i am absolutely letting my emotions getting in the way he is one of my least favourite players in the league. Jakey and him in the same locker room could be interesting but...

If a uncontracted Cloke went into the PSD would GC be able to select him anyway given they have already picked up their one allowed uncontracted from Collingwood (Fraser)?

He didn't exactly perform when it counted in the grand final(s).
The Pies could threaten him with them using Tarrant down forward again and tell him to shove it  :rollin
God, I'd hate to get him and his baggage (family) at our club

if reports are true about GC's salary cap, then we'd be able to offer cloke more than them. I still think he'll definitely stay at the pies, but if he goes we'd be stupid not to get him. As a hit up leading fwd he is gold and would take heat of jack and allow a 3rd fwd to do damage too.

Whatever we all think of Travis and his family, (and his dad is a premiership player for a club and finished his career with us) any team would want his talent. There is no rules saying you have to be a good bloke to play in a premiership.
Would do everything we can to get him if he is available. Would even go as far as to say he was worth our pick 5.

Most of the contracts would be heavily front ended
Their cap space will actually grow and then they'll eat it back up again paying to keep their gun kids

McKenna said before Trade Week that they wanted Forwards and Rucks. Remember it well since I was hoping they were desparate for a key back that we had.

Can't get much better than the current premiership CHF, even if he does need a muzzle.

David Cloke defended he decision to talk openly about a possible national draft gamble for his 23-year-old son.

"I've said all along, we want to stay. We are negotiating with Collingwood and that's where it's at," Cloke told the Herald Sun.

"All I said today was if it can't come to an agreement, the option he has got is to go into the national draft; that if you can't come to terms with Collingwood his next option is then to go into the draft."

He dropped his request for a three-year deal to two years at the weekend, but the parties were still at an impasse.

Collingwood said it was confident a deal would be done, and tried to downplay any significance to Cloke's comments.

"We are confident the deal will be struck and player and club will get on with business,'' football manager Geoff Walsh said.

Where you hear that? Huns reporting our ex players demanding we grab him, nothing on AFL site...
I reckon if he is around they will definately do a deal for him with Damir and a fat pay check.  Imagine a that huge forward line, it wouldn't matter if he was a poo kick really, between him griff Jack and our other opportunists the scoreboard would be collapsing under the weight of the scoring.  Starting to warm to the idea as long as Damir doesn't start pushing for him to be Captain and head cheerleader in his first year.

Travis Cloke was never going to leave Collingwood and for him to sit there and bang on about this as the biggest story ever was a load of garbage and pathetic journalism.
