Some nutter on twitter had been spreading a rumour today that Cuz had fallen off a cliff in NZ and died ::). Supposedly Richard Wilkins and/or 3aw got hold of it and reported the rumour publicly.
3aw twitter now saying - "Ben Cousins in Perth and 3AW and 6PR have spoken with his father Brian and other sources who strongly deny Ben is 'dead', despite rumours."

Yep. Also how did 3aw seriously not see this as a garbage anonymous tweet or perhaps they didn't care and just wanted the attention they'd get from going with this crap about Benny.
As for the no-life instigator of this crap. Some people obviously are so obsessed with Cuz they can't leave him alone even in footy retirement ::).

Ben Cousins is not 'dead'

Ben Cousins is not 'dead', despite malicious rumours being posted on social networking sites like Twitter and stuff, as well as via text messages seen by 3AW, that he has died.
Fairfax Radio has spoken with Ben's father, Brian, and other sources close to the controversial former AFL star, who strongly refuted that he had passed away.
3AW has been made aware that Cousins is currently in Perth, and there has been an issue with him in the past few days that has come under the notice of AFL powerbrokers.
If there's anything further to report on this matter 3AW will do so, but - repeating - Ben Cousins is alive and in Perth.

They've been caught out broadcasting unsubstantiated rumours of a low type and rather that back away and admit they were wrong they just have to have a deflection shot at Ben.

There is a website, the one that was used for the Jeff Goldblum rumour (who also died in a cliff fall in NZ ::)), where you type in a persons name and it makes up a false news story. Can't remember the link though,
