You'd think he'd be better. At the risk of being taken to task, though I love Dustin and am really please he's wearing Y&B, it is quite obvious there are flaws in his game. The great thing about Dustin is he works really really hard to make up for those flaws, and from watching him I feel he will more than make up for the small problems in his game.

Could you imagine Dustin if he had just a weeny bit more pace.  :gobdrop

actually martin has a 2.89sec 20 metre split which is elite. No pace issues for him at all.

It's more about endurance with Martin. Once he build that base he will be more powerful over longer periods of time in a game.

I remember 1 game this year he had 17 touches at half time only to then fade out of the game and have little influence, That's the are of his game he'll improve on next year.

There you go then  :D I have always found the Dusty gave me the impression that he labours a bit when running and can be at risk of getting caught. Perhaps this is more endurance as elliot suggests. I suppose pace might not have quite been what I meant. Maybe I meant sustained pace. (Maybe I'm just completely wrong.  ;) )

Slightly better.  Swallow is a stuff.

Scully could also be a stuff but Dusty looked 100% better than him this year. Time will tell as always and it will really depend on their roles and the player support they gain around them. Most great players only look great because of the hard work of their team mates. I won't swap Dusty for any other midfielder in the league at the moment...but of course I have a man crush so... :whistle

I reckon you and Elliot are right about the sustained pace due to endurance/fatigue. He gave everyone that perception last year until draft camp times which amazed everyone.

Martin is already very good and will get better, Swallow hasn't done anything yet at AFL level. AFL level is a whole different kettle of fish just ask ANY player.

Scully had 20 odd touches in last 1/4 vs dogs mostly due to being very fit

Swallow won the medal for best u18 player ahead of Martin, scully, trengrove

Saw Swallow with EF in 09 playing against men in the WAFL seniors.

He will be elite, and will have many a good battle against Dustin.

Swallow probably has a touch more polish with his disposal off either side, however Martin has greater pack crashing ability

Gee it could be scary how quick GC get to top 4 if they harvest the draft effectively which would match the RFC rebuild timing.

you must remember martin was a late starter, spent much time in sydney with his dad so didnt get to play as much
martin is tough and a stuff also

Edited for avoiding the swear filter. As mentioned previously the "C" word in any form is acceptable and will not be tolerated.

;D Problem is I know I'm no footy expert so most of my opinions are formed from interested observation. I also know I don't always come to the right conclusion. I was raised to be basically honest. Blame my parents, I do.  :rollin

I actually enjoy being wrong, have always seen it as an opportunity to learn something. Lucky for me since I am wrong so often.  :wallywink

People who think they are right all the time never tend to learn anything in my experience.

A bit like,"those who don't learn from their mistakes are doomed to repeat them."

You old sh!it st!rrer.

Back to the topic, there is no difference between a swallow and a martin, just different names for members of the Hirundinidae family  :P :outtahere
